THAT'S THE KIND OF FISHING GEAR I STARTED WITH AS A KID, AND I JUST LOVED THE SCREAM OF THE DRAG WHEN YOU CATCH NICE SIZE FISH. IT WAS AN OLD ZEBCO 202 THAT HAD A PUSH BUTTON REEL MOLDED INTO THE ROD, AND I CAUGHT A TON OF FISH ON THAT SET-UP!!!!!

I used to fish a lot with ultra-light tackle. I used tiny hard body crank baits. I caught some perch and crappie but in the early spring these tiny baits really slew bass! It's fun to catch 2 or 3 pound bass on ultra-light gear. You may get hooked on small gear!

Love you both, many years ago I cot bass in the deep poles of a lake, the water was clear that you just put the bate rite in front and they would bite the best thing since bread. 2 and 3 lb bass with no problem. Love your vids keep on going my friends. Old Master Gunnery SGT USMC.

My dad was born in 1933 on a 360+ acre farm with a pond & a river. They had a johnboat & paddles. I remember cane fishing poles. The only rod & reel I ever remember my dad having was a very short rod with something like a zebco 33 reel. I believe this was because the short rod made it much easier to use while fishing the river, especially from the johnboat. The river wasn’t very wide & had lots of overhanging branches. The short rod meant less chance of “squirrel fishing”. 😂

I actually use a shakespeare ice runner ice fishing rod all year medium action though just incase I get something a little larger. Atleast for the lakes I generally fish It makes it fun even the little ones put up a better fight or so it feels. Though if I'm fishing rivers I'll use a larger rod.
Another one I use is a zebco dock demon deluxe it is pretty strong and only like $15. I just upgrade the reel and use rocket bobbers they cast further than any others I've tried
