      Fast no reason to toss em back

    • @FishYanker
      @FishYanker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Gotta thin some of the bigger
      ones. It gives some of the smaller one a chance to grow. The smaller gills are constantly targeted and attacked by the gar and other fish.

    I been watching fishing videos constantly for the past 4 months and I have to say yours is the best I've seen by far. No foolishness no camera or technical problems just fishn'. I am 71 years old and if I can't get on the lake, watching videos is the next best thing. I just found your channel and I knew immediately this was gonna be my go too. Please keep up the good work and just fish.

    Great video and love the scenery. Looks like the areas I fish in Louisiana catch huge bluegill like your catching. Next to crappie, bluegill is my second favorite to eat and my favorite to catch. Should be big crappie in the area your fishing in this video.

      Thank you. I agree I would love to go to Louisiana and fish some of them swamps, it's beautiful down there. I do catch crappie in this spot too. when the bluegill slow down I'll be chasing the crappie soon.

    Awesome. I fish in crystal clear water and no matter how light a rig is I can always watch the big ones scatter when it hits the water. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for them to come back and bite.

      @@FishYanker It will be at least a year or more before I can meet with you for a fishing trip. I have a lot of work to do here and will soon start construction on my dream camping/fishing boat... a 17 1/2 ft. skif... with an enclosed cabin. That way, I can use it for fishing... for camping, cooking & sleeping in as I travel to different lakes to fish for Bluegill. Meeting up with you at some time in the future will certainly be something to look forward to. Thank you for your kindness and for replying. This fish is responsible for so many people becoming obsessed with fishing as a kid. I remember the day i became addicted to it. I was five, it was overcast with a light drizzle, my old man who couldnt have been older 23 at the time took me to a local gravel pit we used to sneak in to. We kept half a dozen. I had a snoopy pole lol. I remember him picking me up from my grandparents one weekend and he had gotten me a new zebco that lasted another few years. I can say it also saved my life ans our relationship as father and son. Id gotten into drugs and lost touch with everyone. He never gave up on me. Going on a year now and every time we fish be it for steelhead, smallmouth, crappie etc i always thought back to that day. Ive always wished we had the cypress up here in the north. Just because you akways find fish in some of them. My local private lake we have lake rights to has become nearly unfishable due to the weeds. Million dollar homes, giving money to the twin lakes association and they cant control weeds. Ive also always wanted to get big redbreast in the swamps

    As a kid we spent our summers fishing for bream. Nothing beat a light fly rod and Accardo popping bugs to keep us occupied all day. Our parents didn't worry about us getting into mischief plus when we got home and cleaned our catch we new there was going to be a platter of fried bream for supper, Unfortunately parents now a days are too busy or lazy to take their children fishing and hunting. It seems its a lot easier to stick them in front of a computer and forget about them. Spend quality time with your children now. The one thing you can never get back is time.

      Yes sir I agree with you 100%. I just took my son and my two grandbabies fishing the other day four and seven year olds. My grandson 7 years old caught his first fish all by himself. A little Bass and he was using a strike King mini King spinner. But to see how happy he gave me lots of joy with his reaction. I set the hook on three little bass and let my granddaughter reel them in on a spinning reel and she was so tickled also. Making memories with your family is wonderful.

    Another great video! Have you ever tried Black Soldier Fly larvae? I had not heard of them until a couple years ago. I had some wheat stored in my shop and they hatched and were on the floor. I thought, I don't know what that is but it looks like good bait, and was. People raise them for chicken feed. Their skin is tough like catalpa worms and look like larger wax worms. Crappie and bream love them. I tip my beetle spin jig with them, and catch most of my bream on smaller beetle spins with a 32nd oz. jig. You can order the larvae on the internet, about $18/ 1000. I grow my own in a compost barrel. Put the garbage in and they will lay eggs and produce the larvae. I put it out of the weather in my barn because the rotting garbage stinks. To separate, I put a scoop on some expanded wire over a container. They tend to want to go down so they separate themselves. I place the larvae in a ventilated container with some saw dust. They are dry, not slimy and I have had them live a couple weeks in my boat with no food or water. Sorry for the length. Love your channel, have a blessed day, my friend. PB

    I was wondering whether you used crickets and you talked about why you use nightcrawlers more in this video. Do you ever use wigglers or red worms and if so do you think bream prefer a certain type?

    • @FishYanker
      @FishYanker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do like to use crickets when I'm pole fishing. When I use a rod and reel I prefer to use a jig hook and worms. I have been trying Wiggler's and nightcrawlers. The fish like both of them but I prefer nightcrawlers because it's easier to cover up the hook so the fish don't notice the point as much.. they seem to get hooked easy with night crawlers.

    It's getting ever so close to Bull bream bedding, the Waters Warm enough Here right now actually (South Mississippi), I saw some dog woods blooming Too so both of those are really good Indicators to Start looking, I saw one local guy that uses Meal Worms he had a couple of pics of about 30 Bluegill he had just caught a couple of days ago, so I'm gonna do some looking around some known bedding Areas this week , they should be at least staging up on the ledges leading up to the shallow water ,,

    • @FishYanker
      @FishYanker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes sir that's what I'm finding is some early bream starting to work towards the shallows. All the signs were there it won't be too long and it'll be time for some big spawning bluegill.
