Y’all were so much fun to watch. I used to fish a lot with my ex-husband down in Southeast Texas and the most fun I ever had was catching a 31 inch redfish up in the bayou at hi tide going out. That One gave me a run for my money on a fly rod. About a 30 min run. When you catch a redfish, you have to work them until they come up on their side. When they start to float on their side, that’s when they’re ready to be brought into the boat. But they are hard to keep on that hook til then. That was so much fun. I miss fishing. Thank y’all for sharing I loved it. Y’all take care. We’ll see you on the next video.
I fished with my grandpa when I was a little girl. He always told me to be very quiet so I didn't scare the fish. Hearing ya'll scream, holler, and laugh while you fish leads me to believe that my Papa only wanted some peace and quiet while on the water. He was a clever old guy. Love your videos. Stay safe.
Tie a santee rig it'll float off the bottom using a cylinder type small cylinder bobber. This will help. 😊 I have the same issues with brush and grass in my river. I fish. Everywhere I throw, I get snagged. A santee rig helps me get snagged less.
The black bullhead cats in my area are definitely black. They are Live bearers, And most often seen in shallow waters escorting a brood of young. Here anyway, they seldom exceed 12 inches.
Another great video! Nice to see JayJay out having fun. I didn't think you could let bowfin back in the water. I thought it was an invasive fish. Let me know
Cole, wanna help the fish? Catch as many shad as you can and try to keep them alive. Go to a place like your fishing now and release them. Or, if theyre not very expensive, buy some shad and release them. Eithercway, it might make for a longer time of being able to catch some more PB's. 😊
Also try a medium sized weighted bobber with a 15 to 16 inch leader. This will help you not get snagged. If 15 to 16 inch is too short try 17 to 18 inch leader.
It would be so interesting to see you try some of our British tactics and tackle, such as bait runner reels, alarms, and barbless or microbarb hooks, it would give you a much better bite indication and no need to have your drag reduced on pick-up for this type of fishing. Lure and plastics are a whole different ballgame.
Cole split their tails about 4 inches up and let them bleed out. You can make mud balls about two by inch and a half to 2 inches long and they are delicious flower from any way like but they are delicious but they’ve got to bleed out.
Not too surprised except for the sunken boats we have found haha. Also some of the larger stumps surrounded by old cypress knees have been nice to identify!
Originally it was a 5 year plan. It's been 1 year and nothing has happened yet. They also plan to restock all the fish that died and it will take a few years before it's worth fishing. If you are retiring soon, I honestly might would look elsewhere. There really isn't any clarity on the future of this place at the moment because they haven't secured any permits to begin work
I always enjoy your videos, but the bofin, or grinnel as it is commonly called in the south, is no more prehistoric than a crappie. They were created on the same day as all other fish.
I really like the response series rods from 6th Sense ! 6thsensefishing.com/collections/response-casting-rods/products/response-70-med-heavy-mod-fast They also have a 7'4" Heavy Mod Fast that is really nice. It's quite a bit beefier than the 7' MH
Many regard them as a trash fish, but many do eat them, I ate something made with them, but they’re too ugly to eat! Big thing is don’t get them wet. It’s said to make their meat like cotton, so others would use old newspaper to clean the meat. Still too ugly to eat!
Ya'll make me want to fish freshwater. Always remember what a freshwater fisherman calls a "trophy", a saltwater fisherman calls "bait". It is all about the memories.
People don’t realize that bowfin serve a purpose to are lakes and creeks just like any other native fish. Throwing any native fish up on the bank is unacceptable.

Jay knows how to fish and does not need Cole telling her what to do.
Thanks Jay @ Cole best way to end my weekend with you'll bending rods!
Jay is such a cutie when she misses one. So full of enthusiasm ! Great attitude. Y'all make a great tag team😮
She's awesome!

Of the year 😮 ❤
It was a really fun time!
So much crazy fun watching you two. I have never caught a brown bullhead. Great job. God bless you guys
The colors on the bullheads are insane!
Great video I used to catch boffins on. Peeled crawfish tails and Peeled bait shrimp with a cane pole. Talk about a fight. Congratulations yall 🎉❤
We need to bust out the cane poles!!
When you can't keep 'em off your hooks, THAT'S when it's fun!
Can't ever complain about too much action!!!

Bowfin are native! They closely resemble the invasive snakehead though which you do have to keep if you catch any
@COLE_and_JAY thanks Cole.
About time you have her on your video.
I try to get her out there every day lol
Your video make me feel good.
Happy to hear that! Thank you so much!

GUUD 👍🏾 VIDEO
I wish you would use a landing net to bring the fish in,and take more care when putting them back rather than just throw them back
Top demais meu amigo ❤️❤️ paz e amor ❤️
Definitely do a catch clean and cook there
Would be fun!
Love these videos
Thanks! They are fun to make!
Ive only caught one bowfin in my life. Fair size. Thought it was a snakehead. Lol 😊
They look very similar! Bowfin fight harder I think!
Great video
Thank you!
You guys are so amitureristic
I'm not watched the video since you all said they was draining your lake and now I see it wow
Cole split their tails about 4 inches up and let them bleed out. You can make mud balls about two by inch and a half to 2 inches long and they are delicious flower from any way like but they are delicious but they’ve got to bleed out.
Can you show us how you distinguish the catfish from each other?
You should do a video on your fish and reptiles as pets.
We don't have as much as we used to but still have quite a few critters!
If your could breed tame green basilisk that could be good.
Have you been surprised at any structure or topography that would cause you to fish differently when the lakes refills?
Not too surprised except for the sunken boats we have found haha. Also some of the larger stumps surrounded by old cypress knees have been nice to identify!
Don't be down, Jay. Cole's first fish wasn't 1/4 the size of yours. Yeah, let Cole clear out the nursery for you. You get da big 'uns. Lol😂😊
So weird to see the water that low. Crazy they have bloody tails. I wonder what causes that.
Yeah! It's crazy!
J. Is busier than a one arm paper hanger
Question. I'm looking at retiring and looking at houses in Mayflower on the lake. How long are they saying on the lake before they refill?
Originally it was a 5 year plan. It's been 1 year and nothing has happened yet. They also plan to restock all the fish that died and it will take a few years before it's worth fishing. @COLE_and_JAY thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking around tablerock or maybe the Cherokee Village area as well. Tight lines!
One thing about it. When you got a muddy girl you know you had a great time.
Dang straight!
Her shoes are cute.
Yeah they are!
Nice video. You must be using 6th sense hooks to lose that many hook ups.
Gammys 😳

Bowfin supper mushey fish but they make great fish patties
Need to try it!!

Cole what is a good medium heavy power moderate fast action casting rod between a7' to a 7'4" budget rod

Some people do but they are kinda gamey.
@@rocksandoil2241Our neighbor was a Mississippi man where he made something like a sauce piquant. Tasted good, but again it’s too ugly to eat!
Like eating carp.
They put up a fight and i just throw up on the back
What's gonna happen now that the lake is drained?
We got you babe …JJ for president …the big boss ….slab queen …..rodeo star ……mom..wife…tv star …..university grad …..
Forgot life guard.
Yall should feed the local food banks
They won’t take food like that. They won’t take turkeys from a local farm. Nothing without fda control. It’s a liability game.
Would be nice, but they wouldn't take these fish
I’m from Jersey avid fisherman just wondering what part of the country you guys are in…
Ya'll make me want to fish freshwater. Always remember what a freshwater fisherman calls a "trophy", a saltwater fisherman calls "bait". It is all about the memories.
I wish I knew where this location at 😢
Are you doing ok after the hurricane
Yes, we weren't affected
Bucket
Up in in ohio were suppose to get rid of them. Nobody does though.
Why are you supposed to get rid of them there?
@COLE_and_JAY they are not supposed to be here. They take over they eat everything.
@@COLE_and_JAY invasive species.
"invasive species".
@@brucefortune5861 they're native to ohio
I just got to ask: why throw them back when they are only going to die due to the lake drying up?
I think they are going to survive until the next big rain and be good for a while!
I got flag for telling y’all how to cook those fish
No snakes?
Not this time surprisingly lol
Should never put back the bowfin
Why?
People don’t realize that bowfin serve a purpose to are lakes and creeks just like any other native fish. Throwing any native fish up on the bank is unacceptable.
BOWFIN DO NOT = SNAKEHEADS .... BOWFIN are native to almost all waterways.... STOP FKIN KILLING THEM !!!... It is illegal to leave them to die.

Cheers from the great state of Arkansas!!
I could teach you how to throw that net a lot better!
You guys put out some good content, but it gets a little bit annoying when Cole repeats himself.
Might need to visit a speech therapist lol
