About the mosque you saw, it's the Masjid Jamek which is the oldest mosque in Kuala Lumpur. Non-Muslims are allowed to visit outside of prayer times. You happened to visit during prayers as I could hear the call to prayer (azan) blaring over the loudspeaker.
Yes the mosque sits on a very special site after which the city is named for. At the confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers. The name Kuala Lumpur literally means muddy river confluence - Kuala (confluence or estuary) and Lumpur (mud). The Masjid Jamek mosque was designed by a British architect, Arthur Bennison Hubback, who was also responsible for the old KL railway station in the "neo-Moorish" style. If you like that sort of thing do also visit the Sultan Abdul Samad Building, the KL Railway Station (the old one, not KL Sentral) and the KTM (Malayan Railways) Administration Building . We hope all visitors to our city enjoy their stay :)
for your information,in Kuala Lumpur there lots of mosque.and not all of it allow non muslim visitor.you can try to visit Masjid Negara ,where they provide shirts, scarf and pants for non muslim.
+Lessilu Anytime you can visit to any mosque ..for woman you cannot wearing sexy shirt..as long you cover your body, long pant/long skirt, put skarf on your hair..& for man is easy just wearing long pant..
the mosque area is under huge renovation works. Non-muslims are not allowed during prayer times cuz it will be too crowded in the small compound. Once the renovation is completed end of the year it will be accessible to all visitors. Behind the mosque is a vast heritage district of KL called Merdeka Square. Plenty of historical colonial buildings around there.
Musnahkan Malaysia Bodo where is your respect...We all respect your country and religion...You should show some respect to the public...This is TH-cam man...
I think the mosque should put a big sign at the entrance for tourists, saying that, during prayers hours, none muslims are not allowed.Because i have seen a vlog from another tourist facing the same situation.
That's actually a good idea because we thought that we are NEVER allowed in, so we didn't plan to visit the mosque at a different hour, which is a shame!
yeah true, the mosque should have put a sign. but just want to let people know that the mosque is still under renovation. maybe some part of the site is quite unsafe for visit. anyway, thank you for understand the situation because as a muslim i also feel ashamed when someone not allowed to visit the mosque. mosque is open to everyone but a visitor may need to in respectful manner. most mosque provides cloth and headscarf for visitor before entering if the visitor wears are unsuitable. but don't worry there still lot of mosque in KL if you would like to visit.
Chua Boon Jung pls don't create any wrong perception. we don't mind if you don't know but pretend like you know when you know little is worse. Mosque is open to anybody. Yes a person need to be proper wear not that it is a strict rule. In Islam, a man must cover from knee to navel. But in today society a man need to wear a shirt to show some politeness. For women their aurah is whole body except face, forearms and feet. Some mosque provide cloth for visitor who needs but no fees for it.
Is it? Non muslims cannot visit the mosque during prayers? As a muslim I think we should allowed the nons throughout the operating hours.. muslim temple lol actually you can go to main mosque in Putrajaya visited there but non muslim will be given robe and scarf to cover the body before entering the great floating mosques
mikakami93 muslim temple .. hmm dont see any prob with that actually .. we even say solomon's temple and solomon, he's a muslim if u knw what i meant ...
Sestra Almoharebah erm..they can still go in even if it is prayer time. I think it is better if they can ses how we pray rather than they are kept wondering. There are people in the US thought that we will be doing barbaric things during prayer. Well this is my personal opinion. TQ anyway
You should REALLY go to PUTRAJAYA... Not much to do there.. yet....but the Architecture is Stunning!!! I can't believe how many Visitors to KL miss that spot!!!
Because architecture is nothing for most of tourist who visit Malaysia. They probably have even better in their country, Malaysia maybe famous for it's nature and being quite 'exotic'.
They didn't allow you in because it was a prayer time. They shud have a schedule at the gate, I think. I visited it once and they provided me with a sarong to cover my knees coz I was wearing shorts. (I am a guy). I even managed to get onto the prayer area even. Not too far inside tho. It was magical. Very serene and humbling. And surprisingly it was cool.
Whoever says u can't go inside the mosque are totally wrong.. Other religion are allowed to go inside the mosque with exception that u hv to wear a modest clothes and covering ur hair with scarf for women.. Once u're inside u just hv to keep ur voice low as to respect those who come to pray.. But u'll surely can enjoy the beauty of the mosque :) I hope u'll hv another opportunity to visit a mosque... Every mosque was built with its own beauty and uniqueness, but one thing for sure u shall feel calm n peace inside the mosque.. Peace be upon u sister :)
i brought a friend from thailand to masjid jamek as he wanted to visit, we were denied entry into the mosque even though both of us were decently dressed, only allowed pictures outside the mosque compound reason being we are not muslims
Streetball, You can enter the Mosque after The Prayers. She can’t enter it too cus it was the time to pray, you can hear the “Azan” on the background. LoL
it was 12.30pm that time when we got chased away by the people in the mosque.. i dont think it's prayers time at 12.30pm.. well i might be allowed in if you were the committee member back then
This is what I noticed about yr videos. You had ten of thousands views when you posted about great places in Malaysia and I'm pretty sure you had more subscribers among Malaysian as well. I wish I could travel like both of you one day. Thanks for the cool posts!
Hi Harry,I hope that you will manage to travel too one day, everyone deserve to travel! We have many followers which are Malaysian and we are really proud of that, because we love Malaysian people! :) cheers
enjoyed your video and thank you for visiting Malaysia. There are so many places to visit and a lot of them do not require entrance tickets. There are free bus rides too at the city centre. If you have the time explore the outskirts of KL and also nearby states where you can experience the true Malaysian Hospitality. Dont be hesitant to ask anything, most speak English although broken but they will try to help you find your way. Happy travels!
Hi Wiz apa khabar and thank you for watching! :) We´ve been in Sabah, Perhentian and currently in Cameron Highlands! We are gonna visit much more of your amazing country and I can totally tell you that Malaysian people are the most welcoming and helpful ones! My favorite country in South East Asia so far!
Lessilu aaaaawww I'm glad you are still here visiting other places than KL. Try to head down to Melaka, many quaint places to stay and eat and UNESCO historical sites to experience. Stay safe and enjoy the vanilla coke! keep making videos too!

Correction. You boths are allowed to enter the mosque but during ur visit is a prayer time...so visitors/tourist are restricted for a while till prayer period end. Other that, visitor/tourist hv to follow several rules/regulation. Easy n simple ones. Pls try again.
Ooh, you visited my neighbourhood! Bangsar, Telawi :) My family got a house in Bangsar in 2000, when I was 5 years old. Grew up there ever since. It's actually been pretty heavily gentrified but home to some new unique stores too. There used to be a wonderful MPH bookstore, I think 4 floors with a spiral staircase in the middle which is gone now. My favourite is the Cziplee bookstore (3-storeys of sationery and art supplies!) Across the main road is another area called Lucky Gardens which is home to a traditional wet market that sets up in the morning until mid afternoon, and older brick-and-mortar stores ranging from magazine newsstands to hardware shops etc and wonderful koptitiams (malaysian hawker food centres)
How did you end up in Bangsar? That is where we chill out for locals and expats who know the neighborhood. Rarely tourists will go there as it is out of the city. Glad you enjoyed our hideout!
Thank you for reminding about how near the suburbs are to the city. Was nice to see another perspective. You stumbled upon Bangsar, a very popular place for meeting friends or business meetings.
Dear Lessilu, You could visit a mosque any time you wish, exept Friday at noon. The time you picked was the weekly Friday noon prayer, which is comparable to a very packed holy mass.
Omg this is so sweet! I'm glad we can help you somehow! Your written skills are great! I just posted you comment on my Instagram stories as "comment of the day", follow me on lessilu____ if you want to check it out!
You could visit the mosque of course! I've been a volunteer in that mosque showing around the place to tourist before. Just come back in 10 minutes after the prayer, someone will show you around :D What you heard/recorded was the call for prayer.
Actually the national mosque are open for tourist, they do provide clothes and headscarf to cover up.. maybe it's prayer time that's why they didn't allowed visitors at that moment.. after the prayer finished, it will be open again..
nice video. if you love theme park you can go to Sunway Lagoon ..19 mins drive from KL & Genting Highland (hill resort), about 40mins drive from KL. Currently 2Oth Century Fox Theme Park is under construction up there.
It's always lovely to hear about Kuala Lumpur from the point of view of a non-Malaysian. Makes us thinks and see differently and realise the things that we have taken for granted all this while.
Ahahahha I know! Even in Bansar they had a shopping mall and now we are in Sandakan, Borneo and surprised to find a shopping mall! But it's quite fun in days like today that we have plenty of time to kill!
I think you're not allowed to go in the mosque bcs of that time is the prayer time. The one you filmed the mosque with sound from the mosque is actually called azan (call time for prayer). But there's a lot of mosque you can go visit ☺️
what time did you guys walk around in the day? it gets so hot in malaysia starting like 11am to 4pm impossible for me to walk outside without umbrella for a long time
I'm sorry they didn't let u guy in the mosque. But it's not because of u guys are non Muslim, it's rather they didn't have cover up robe for both of u to wear :) Perhaps some sort of miscommunication by them. Like everyone mentioned here, come to Putrajaya mosque, u guys are more than welcomed there :) Cheers
I'm sure that's the reason. Probably the mosque doesn't provide the appropriate clothing needed to enter the mosque - things like hijab (headscarfs), trousers and long robes with long sleeves.
Some tips for both of you or anyone who is planning to visit KL:Download application Grab as soon as you guys arrive here/ but must to bought Malaysian sim card first cost only Rm10-12 already have some money inside the sim card (it's much cheaper to going somewhere rather than stop & take a random taxi or go to the driver taxi who is already waiting to hunt the victim because when they saw especially the foreigner they will cheat the cab fees, not all but mostly)We have many beautiful islands in other state in Malaysia and cheap & delicious meal in Kl or other states (all you have to do just search it in Google and you will found all the information you want to know but not everything is in details, but you can asking people who seems friendly and willing to help to show you around/the road) The restaurant inside or near luxury hotel and the menu inside the pub/night club usually so expensive. Take a look the meal/food inside the big Mall called Foodcourt (for example in KL, go to KLCC the foodcourt is inside there but not recommend for shopping in KLCC it's kinda expensive. But I highly recommend you can take a look in Time Square (walking distance from KLCC to go Time Square is 15-20 minutes, ask the people there to show you the short way/the bridge with aircond inside there from KLCC so you can walking comfortably doesn't matter in hot weather, raining time or could avoid annoying traffic jam or from full of people inside the monorail/train especially on the weekends or pick hours(back from office 5 pm - 8 pm so the train/monorail will be pack & so uncomfortable) So It's much easier by walking through the bridge until it will send you exactly inside the Time Square. I bet you will love it there in the Time Square, mostly fashion things like clothes, dress, shoes, bag, jewelery is beautiful, excellent and affordable, good quality and kinda cheap for do some shopping for yourself or for the gift etc. Or before/after shopping, go to another floor there for a foodcourt that provide many choices of delicious meal & cheap food, drinks and dessert. And there is plenty nearby Mall building as well for hunting another kind of food. I hope all of you have so much fun in Malaysia, love it and will come again here next time! Just be careful when you're walking around especially on the street. We as a woman usually put & bring the bag on the shoulder, in Malaysia especially in Kuala Lumpur there is highest criminal here which is about there is a heartless idiot who will snitch someone bag/ gold necklace while that asshole ride the bike/motorcycles. Just imagine if the victim fell down on the street when they trying to steal the bag/gold necklace then the car from the back hit the innocent victim!! And it does happen!!! Or the pyschopath bike rider who did a random acid attack that happen less than 10 years ago hit the tourist people and to local people especially to the woman & school girl. But I always hope & pray there is no such things will happen ever again to anyone in Malaysia or around the world. That's sad & cruel way to destroy an innocent people's life!! So better safe than sorry that is why I give you all of this reminder I know this sounds creepy or scary but this is the truth happen a lot here to local people and some to foreigners and I want you guys to always be aware of surrounding you!! Even some police here is fucked up and rude.. Not all but usually they are good if we talk to them nicely but still I don't understand why usually some of them are arrogant & show off eventhough with only a small sallary maybe that is why they like to stop people and trying the best found their fault and ask the "black money" so they can let them go without fine them or doesn't have to go court after get some money. Anyway just always keep on eyes around on the street in Malaysia, avoid walking alone on the empty & creepy street especially to a woman, be aware and just stay away from the suspicious stranger and not forgetten always take care of your valuable belongings. For example, you dont want to lose your expensive camera/phone with all the travel memorable picture and of course if so, automatically the important data/memory card inside the camera/phone went missing together with it right? On the vocation trip when it should be fun?? Hell nooo I speak from the experience, lucky if you already gotten it copy all inside the memory card to the laptop before or now more easier we having the backed up system but usually whatever it is, shitty things always happen unpredictably. Even stupid little things happen to me in Kuala Lumpur, it's not a big deal just that is some funny story when that day, it was raining outside. I went to the woman public toilet inside the train station and I put my pink umbrella on the middle of mirror and the sink.. I was inside the toilet for only less than 5 minutes and when I get back there my umbrella is gone lol I just wondering how is that woman thief look like until she is desperate like that lol I am not mad just found it funny when I remember it back. Imagine if somebody (and that's a woman) desperately steal the umbrella, how about if they saw a valuable things?? So never ever put your stuff outside just bring it together inside the toilet if no one that you can trust watching your bag or stuff. So remember my warning about Malaysia, not all is taste sweet here. Anyway, you sound like Colombian or people who speak Spain, will love to learn more this beautiful language soon!! ;) So for now, take care and have fun!!
Actually you can go visit to masjid jamek "mosque that you said not allowed to go in". You can go visit as per timetable on the entrance. Not during prayer time.
tourist are allowed to go into the mosque during visiting hours. 8.30am-12.30pm & 2.30pm-4.30pm. do expect to wear a robe for covering provided at the entrance
You can go inside putrajaya mosque, you just have to wear proper clothing ( i mean cover all your body and not to forget wear hijab) to get in there, thats all.
I'm non muslim and went to Masjid Negara with my Malay friends before to view the architecture. (architecture student here, we regularly visit mosque, temples, and churches to view the architecture) You might not been able to go in because it's during prayer hours? The last time, had to wait till a select time to enter, and there was a hella lot of China tourists in line there, too.
really enjoy watching ur video....actually in Malaysia... we have many awesome and great place for u to visit...not only that...we also have many culture here.... come again later then u will enjoy it!!!!....

5:48.....that's the correct way to pronounce Kuala Lumpur......bravo. So good to hear that. Most Malaysians pronounce it or rather mispronounce it as Kuala Lumpuh.
Hi!!! I would say that the most charming thing is the multicultural society, the incredible nature (so diverse as well) , the architecture and the warmth and kindness of the people!
Hi Kamarul! We explored a lot more of Malaysia and we will come back soon to KL to get more surprises :D Hope you´ll have a look to our other Malaysian adventures!
Lessilu!!! Come to Sarawak next time for the Rainforest World Music Festival... it's not too far from Sandakan, Sabah as well! And so sorry that you couldn't experience the mosque. Perhaps it's either because of the prayers time or they didn't have the attires (Abaya, headscarf, kandura and etc) for tourists who are wearing shorts, sleeveless tops and such
do visit Putrajaya! it's our administive city its kinda look like Washigton DC, you can visit the public park, mosque, prime minister office and lakes. the architeccture of the building there is different than KL

Thank you!!!! still in Malaysia and loving it! We visited the mosque in Ipoh, it was wonderful, right before the Friday pray and we also saw the Sultan getting off his car! :)
hello!!! The main places that we looked forward to visit in Malaysia were Georgetown (for the food scene), Perhentian (for the pristine waters) and Borneo (for the rainforest), we ended up loving every single place visited! Malaysia it´s an amazing diverse country!

"Terima Kasih(thank you) for saying a lot of good things about your country. we are open heart for you to come again and enjoy the scenery and authentic and diverse culture. :)
Great video, it gets me psyched up to revisit this great city. I'm not sure if Singapore is better, just a little cleaner but more expensive for sure. Anyway Asia can't be beaten, no doubt about it. Were are you from in Europe?
about the mosque, i think they do allow non-muslim to visit. took an italian friend there once before.. mybe the visit is close during praying time (i can hear the call for prayer in the video) during these times, i dont think visits are allowed. but tht is a beautiful mosque.. moorish design.. other than this one, u could also visit the national mosque (not too far from kl old station)
yeah welcome to malaysia everybody and singapore too.. we have a lot of magnificent asian culture including food that never be anywhere else.. come join me here..

Across the main road is another area called Lucky Gardens which is home to a traditional wet market that sets up in the morning until mid afternoon, and older brick-and-mortar stores ranging from magazine newsstands to hardware shops etc and wonderful koptitiams (malaysian hawker food centres)
Oh the Lucky Gardens sounds like such an amazing place, the next time we are in KL we will do our best to go there! Thank you for the tip :)
How did you end up in Bangsar? That is where we chill out for locals and expats who know the neighborhood. Rarely tourists will go there as it is out of the city. Glad you enjoyed our hideout!
I don't remember where I read about it actually xD
Thank you for reminding about how near the suburbs are to the city. Was nice to see another perspective. You stumbled upon Bangsar, a very popular place for meeting friends or business meetings.
Dear Lessilu, You could visit a mosque any time you wish, exept Friday at noon. The time you picked was the weekly Friday noon prayer, which is comparable to a very packed holy mass.
Hi I'm Japanese.I live in kl to study English 😋I started to watch your videos for improving my English skill.
I can catch your English easily ☺️
Omg this is so sweet! I'm glad we can help you somehow! Your written skills are great! I just posted you comment on my Instagram stories as "comment of the day", follow me on lessilu____ if you want to check it out!
I love ur video in KL, thanks for visiting my city. I hope u had a good time
Thank you so much Eril! I love your city and your country! Hope you´ll stay tuned to watch more vlogs from Malaysia! :)
You could visit the mosque of course! I've been a volunteer in that mosque showing around the place to tourist before. Just come back in 10 minutes after the prayer, someone will show you around :D What you heard/recorded was the call for prayer.
Actually the national mosque are open for tourist, they do provide clothes and headscarf to cover up.. maybe it's prayer time that's why they didn't allowed visitors at that moment.. after the prayer finished, it will be open again..
nice video. if you love theme park you can go to Sunway Lagoon ..19 mins
drive from KL & Genting Highland (hill resort), about 40mins drive
from KL. Currently 2Oth Century Fox Theme Park is under construction up
there.
We are considering a theme park visit actually! :D Thank you for the tips!
no problem :)
It's always lovely to hear about Kuala Lumpur from the point of view of a non-Malaysian. Makes us thinks and see differently and realise the things that we have taken for granted all this while.
We have hundred of shopping mall outside of Kuala Lumpur. Some residential area even have their own mall.
we actually have uncontrollable amount of shopping malls. it's just everywhere...
Ahahahha I know! Even in Bansar they had a shopping mall and now we are in Sandakan, Borneo and surprised to find a shopping mall! But it's quite fun in days like today that we have plenty of time to kill!
Lessilu i am sandakanite..welcome to my province
even in Kuching, Borneo, the malls are scattered around the city.
Dont exaggerate. Name me at least 50 malls in KL
Actually You can enter the mosque.... In the mosque also have tour guide and they will provide hoodie to wear
Very true!!! Afterwards we visited the mosque in Ipoh and Penang! :)
That mosque that you saw is Masjid(mosque) Jamek, it do accept tourist but not right now because it is in the mist of renovation.
I love to see how Malaysian are being very welcoming in the comment section. :-) Malaysia Bagus! :-) By the way, I am a Malay.
I think you're not allowed to go in the mosque bcs of that time is the prayer time. The one you filmed the mosque with sound from the mosque is actually called azan (call time for prayer). But there's a lot of mosque you can go visit ☺️
And try our banana leaf rice! All malay, chinese, India, sabahan and sarawakian cuisine r so yummy! And our tropical fruits!
You can visit mosque at putrajaya... They provide you jubah and head cover...
That two tower over there is called the twin tower and also known as K.L.C.C
Thank you Vincent!
what time did you guys walk around in the day? it gets so hot in malaysia starting like 11am to 4pm impossible for me to walk outside without umbrella for a long time
i just fall in this channel ! Love this
you should come to Malacca. Visit Jonker Walk!
Fahmi Piruz I'll go to melaka soon
We´ll go there :D
Lessilu go to batu pahat johor
+pardip pradip Hahaha batu pahat? 😅 Melaka is a must visit.. but what's interesting in batu pahat? haha..
Pardip Pradip jangan buat malu laa , aku orng batu pahat mna ad special😂😂
I'm sorry they didn't let u guy in the mosque. But it's not because of u guys are non Muslim, it's rather they didn't have cover up robe for both of u to wear :) Perhaps some sort of miscommunication by them. Like everyone mentioned here, come to Putrajaya mosque, u guys are more than welcomed there :) Cheers
I'm sure that's the reason. Probably the mosque doesn't provide the appropriate clothing needed to enter the mosque - things like hijab (headscarfs), trousers and long robes with long sleeves.
Or they visited during prayer times... sometimes they close to non-muslim during prayers...
They don’t let them in because it was praying time, you can heard the azan previously
That mosque is not open to public because it is time for Zohor prayer (Zohor prayer is one of the 5 prayers time in Islam which held on 1.18pm).
3:59 i just notice that... Kuala Lumpur is such a beautiful place (background music)
Muslim Temple = Mosque
that's cute 😅
XD so ignorant of me!
Don't worry about it :)
no. u just don't know, thats all =)
You can go inside putrajaya mosque, you just have to wear proper clothing ( i mean cover all your body and not to forget wear hijab) to get in there, thats all.
Awang Kelana good point
I'm non muslim and went to Masjid Negara with my Malay friends before to view the architecture. (architecture student here, we regularly visit mosque, temples, and churches to view the architecture) You might not been able to go in because it's during prayer hours? The last time, had to wait till a select time to enter, and there was a hella lot of China tourists in line there, too.

You can enter the mosque by wearing the "jubah" provided by the mosque, as long as it is not during prayer time.

about the mosque, i think they do allow non-muslim to visit. took an italian friend there once before.. mybe the visit is close during praying time (i can hear the call for prayer in the video) during these times, i dont think visits are allowed. but tht is a beautiful mosque.. moorish design.. other than this one, u could also visit the national mosque (not too far from kl old station)
