I have the slightly cheaper Mahogany laminate model ... I think Mahogany suits the 6 string better than spruce ... so mellow ... and I never did like the octave pairing on the A string so now I have a low rather than a re-entrant G string and doubled (kinda chorus effect) A strings. Its quirky and I guess not very ukulelel-like but its uniquely mine!

Cant you just use a cheap Bara case and pack it with some foam?
Good job the strings aren't catgut,otherwise your cat could get really paranoid!
