- Adey Greeno knows every nook and cranny of Althorp. He’s dedicated more than three decades of service to the estate, most recently as Conservation Manager, working to preserve and protect Althorp for future generations. From a massive oak, here long before the arrival of the Spencer themselves, to the tree planted by Queen Elizabeth II 70 years ago, Adey shows us a side of Althorp that few people get to see, while teaching the importance of planting for the future.

There is something magical about these glimpses into the hearts and minds of the folks who care for the estate.
Hello Adie, I wish I could hug that big tree. You are doing a wonderful job. You have a passion for what you doing. Its fantastic to see you so happy doing what you love most.
Very interesting to see all the different positions with long-term knowledge of the estate and the grounds. I hope that your work continues for generations.
What an interesting gentleman! People who dedicate their lives to their passions are the luckiest people on this earth!
Adey’s photography is incredible.
I loved learning about this wonderful man. How incredible to have so many trees, both old and ancient, with their history documented. The planting stones are fascinating.
Many Thanks Karen for these wonderful videos.
He was a conservationist before it was "cool". What a lovely man. He truly is a national treasure.
What a treasure of knowledge he has to the estate. Thank you so much for sharing your information on the grounds of the estate.
A man truly at home with nature and the estate and a good friend of many years. Well done Adey.
Great idea having the trees date stamped. Tiny acorns transformed into magnificent oak trees. Thank you for your conservation work 💚❤
This is remarkeble
I just love 1508 videos and their history. Thank you for vlogging this information about your home and history. I enjoy seeing the history, things, and rooms in your home. I love all the details you are fixing. I really loved the china room vlog and all the repairs you guys are going to try to do. I wish I lived in Great Britain so I could help out in any way I could! Till next time! Have a super weekend!
I love all these episodes but especially when such knowledgeable employees are featured. Thank you Adey for keeping history alive. 👏
Planting stones. What a truly magnificent idea.
The Spencer family is so lucky to have a caretaker who loves the estate as much as they do. Adey is a treasure.
The grounds of Althorp are beautiful!! Thank you for sharing a glimpse. ❤
These folks are so inspiring. They accept their fate with humility and do their best to improve the world they’ve been given.
A Very Important Man *** And Must have to be Very Hands On.. wow cheers Tc x
I have to visit my heritage site Croft Castle before I pass. While I am in the UK I would also like to visit Althorpe. Apparently back in history the Spencers were friends with the Washingtons who were distantly related to the Croft family by a common Welsh grandmother daughter of Owain Glyndwr.... It was a small world then. I will make this final trip back home from Australia. Love your beautiful land in Althorp and cherish every inch. Many kind regards ....C Croft
Bravo! Adey is wonderful, how lucky are Althorp and Adey to have each other. It also speaks to the Spencer family to have so many employees spanning a lifetime with them.
Such a valuable asset to have this man be a part of the history of this lovely estate. I love the information that you are sharing.😊
Thank You Adey for sharing your wisdom. I would love to hear more from Adey.
Wow! Incredible! A definite treasure!!!!! I hope your tree lasts! The Mighty Oak!
So much knowledge and love of nature and Althorp, he has!
He was either the conservationist at Althorp or in some really cool rock and roll band.
Lord and Lady Spencer are lucky to have him and his knowledge and expertise.
We are only simple caretakers for the next generation.
Funny that you say that, as I immediately thought he looked and sounded like Ginger Baker.
I can see you've dedicated your life and heart to this land, conserving & improving habitat for a diverse plant, wildlife & bird population. Your work is very important and contributes to the health & longevity of Mother Earth. Thank you.
I look forward to these beautiful and interesting videos. Thank you!
Truly beautiful
Thank you kindly for your response.
What a wonderful channel! I hope you won't stop posting ever! A similar channel, Highclere castle's, stopped posting on TH-cam and it's really a pity! These estates are very rare and a treasure too! Very movie like!
What a marvellous story. I love to get to know the people behind Althorp.
It would be so much fun walking around reading those stones.
The ol tree!! Your grounds keeper A'dee is a Gem !! What a flowing fountain of knowledge 💕 let him know I'm a Fan !!
I truly enjoy your videos
Adey is a great person to have at Althorp, he probably will never retire. A national treasure. Wish there were more like him. I am sure he is truly treasured by many🥰
It’s just absolutely breathtaking
So so wonderful! Really enjoying the weekly updates and insights into your lovely home.
Love these videos. Thank you!
Just Beautiful and so interesting ! It reminds me of Nelson Henderson quote “ The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.”
Can’t wait for the next vlog ❤️ thank you for sharing.
wow that was very interesting and quite cinematographic. You are all our rock stars. Thank you for sharing parts of your lives with us ☺
Thank you for preserving our countryside
Bellissimo , magnifico.
Wonderful!
I love this sharing of all this knowledge. Adey is clearly an asset to Althorp and his hard work and conservation is amazing. He loves that estate
I love everything about this!
Being a bit of a polymath is what it takes to do a thorough job at this estate. All that time managing the estate's annals must make one feel like a proper fixture of that place.
In the TH-cam videos I've been watching a lot have been dealing with forest management. They're getting dead trees & dead branches on the ground off, removing the roots of the vines that strangle the trees, etc. I was surprised at the amount of trees people are losing because of those vines!
Adey - what an amazing amount of history from you - delightful - thank you!
It ks good to see Adey Greeno. XOXOXO
I just finished re-reading ‘The Forest’ by Edward Rutherfurd- it was a delight reading the stories wound around the oaks and their passage through life over generations.
Unbelievable oak tree!
You should get something to wash those stones, clean them up. There are people who volunteer their time to go into cemeteries and clean the stones up. They look like new!
Actually, we do maintain them and have them on a rolling restoration program but we can’t scrub them completely as they are home to important lichen. You’ll learn about this on an upcoming episode!
Wow Karen Spencer responded to your suggestion, I am jealous! Anyway, I am loving all the updates, keep them coming, a fan here in the Philippines!
A very nice look at Adey and his great contribution, thank you God bless!!!✝️❤️❤️🙏🏻
