Was Princess Diana Secretly Buried Here?

I pay a visit to the Althorp Estate, childhood home and burial place of Princess Diana to see the private chapel that she is rumoured to be buried in as her ancestors have been before her. Before that we'll visit the oval lake at Althorp House to see her "official" grave and mausoleum where I found out something that shocked me. Oh and surprisingly we get to see the grave of US President George Washington's grandfather! Who was Diana's relative!
The apparent grave of Diana in the chapel shows a re-cemented area of stone floor that was removed so that Diana could be lowered into the crypt, It was sealed 3 days after her funeral and Earl Spencer later said that he changed his mind after he got permission to bury her on the island of the lake.

Thank you for this video - I too visited this chapel and believe whole heartedly that Diana was buried here too. While we were looking for this chapel the village signposts kept us going around and around until a local police officer stopped our car and asked us if we were lost. When we told him we wanted to visit this chapel he told us the local villagers hated visitors in their village so turned the signposts around to deter anyone from finding their way, in the hope that they would give up and finally go on their way. He told us to follow him where he took us straight to this church. He got out and spent the next half an hour or so with us telling us how he ‘knew’ Diana was buried here with her ancestors. He showed us where the stained glass windows by the Spencer crypt had galvanised fencing on them to deter vandals - we came away completely convinced this is her final resting place.
There is no way her extremely heavy lead lined coffin plus the pallbearers that struggled with the weight of it could ever had got across that small makeshift bridge - the weight alone would have made that bridge collapse !!!!!
Yes - I truly believe this is where she is resting too. Thank you for your belief in this and showing us what we all thought all along !

I always felt a solitary grave on an island in a lake was such a very sad, isolated place to bury a woman who was so spirited and enjoyed the company of loved ones and good friends. She had enough sadness in her life IMO. I am more than willing to hope Princess Diana lies with her ancestors in the chapel.

It is the water table on that little island in the lake that gets me. It would be sopping wet mud and finally a deepening pool of dirty water once you got more than a few feet down, and that doesn't seem like a place anyone would choose to put a coffin of someone they loved.

This is the first time I've seen the magnificent Spencer chapel. I know that Diana had in her will that she wanted to be buried there, and I can see why. Centuries of Spencers are buried there and it makes sense she would want to be there, as well. Her brother knew this, and I sincerely believe she IS buried there in her family chapel. The island is a memorial site, but not a burial site. I'm convinced of that now. When I saw that chapel I just said, "Of course she's buried there. Of course she is."

I thought this myself, when it was reported that she was buried on the island, that the water table level would be barely two to three feet below the ground level, and definitely not a suitable place to bury someone. This is the first time I’ve heard of her being buried in the chapel, and it makes more sense.

When visiting relatives at Abergwili in Wales, my cousin told me they often hear the booming sounds of floating coffins (or presumably the remnants of coffins) sailing about underfoot during services when the vaults are flooded, but thats ok because one of our ancestors was at The Battle of the Nile, so "he's just carried on sailing" LOL

What did upset me is the fact when princess Diana was getting a divorce she asked her brother if she could build a house on this property and his reply was no. He didn't want the press or people and everything that would then turn public like he's doing now during the worst time of her life when she needed a place to stay and her brother said no. You don't speculate in a disrespectful manner; you come across normal and really nice. As for Diana's grave, I fully agree that she can't be burried on that island. It's technically almost impossible to bury anyone there. Your thoughts make sense. When you stood in front of the vault, with a straight look to that rectangular headstone, it came to my mind that she could as well be burried left of the effigy to the left. Because when you filmed from the side, with your extendable stick, you could see that there was empty space. The sun shines right in and the place is empty. There could be a hidden grave between the outer wall and that effigy. But whatever the case is, thank you for this lovely video, and sharing your thoughts and comments on all the graves. Diana's housekeeper Mrs Maudie Pendry ( who Diana loved) was shocked when she learnt she might be buried on The Oval ( The Island) because this is where the family dogs were buried, you can read her story online, she has now also passed away but has some great stories, she was devastated when Diana died. As a Northamptonian i have no doubt her brother loved her dearly and this is why not many of us think she is on the Island. These are my personal feelings obviously. I think there is a memorial on the Island but that is what it is just a memorial again my feelings only.

      @Dia_7hom ปีที่แล้ว

@@deadgoodwalks it’s all very cryptic, and to an extent I understand why. I think because of the tsunami of grief the public displayed they knew they would have to keep Diana’s actual whereabouts secret, throwing the ‘lady in the lake’ narrative into the mix to muddy the waters, so to speak. But thinking about how waterlogged the earth would be on the little island I can’t imagine they would be able to dig a hole six feet deep, it would be like digging waterlogged sand so as fast as they take the earth out it would be falling back in. And say they managed to dig six feet down, it would be full of water… so even with a jcb and a pump taking the water out of the grave, who would want to put their sister/mum/ex wife into a waterlogged hole? Ok so Charlie wouldn’t give a monkeys but everyone else would. I think you’ve solved the mystery and I fully agree with your theory that Diana is probably in the crypt in an unmarked grave. I read at one time that the night of Diana's funeral the military took over the little town of Great Brington. A convoy of jeeps and other vehicles closed down the town and the crematory was seen burning into the late night. Villagers said they all thought Diana was cremated and probably interred in St. Mary's chapel next to the ashes of her father. He was cremated because they were running out of room in the family vault, and there was little room for a casket. I never bought that she is buried on that island. Never!

Thanks for this , only found by fluke. I was living near Althorp at the time of Diana's death. That big old chest would be the Parish Chest where all of the Registers of Birth, Death & Baptism would be locked. Probably dates back to when the church was built. Very precious item!
    1. "The Memorial" as it is being called is actually marble. It was built years ago - maybe 1800s - originally as a temple to the Goddess Athena. I went to Althorp so, so many years ago - maybe 1989 - and have photos of me, Mum, Dad & my family sitting in it. It was "re-imagined" for Diana. The plaques on the walls prob are wood as added so much later than the original building, and at speed due to her sudden death.
    2. The Viscount opened a beautiful setting in the revamped stables to make a display all things Diana. Photos, Toys, Film, Clothing etc - even her wedding dress. It was fantastic. Dont know if this is still open now. The House & Grounds were open too and I spent a lovely day there with my 2 daughters who were both over the age of 21. We walked around the Island & we saw the remodelled Temple remembering how it was the previous time that we had seen it. It was loaded with floral tributes that people were bringing as this was the first time that Althorp had been open & seen after Diana had died. It was a year after Diana's death. There were gifts you could purchase in a shop too. I still have mine as well as my tickets to the event.
    3. I firmly believe that Diana is in the Church. It became painfully obvious that there had to be a more secure area. The island is a decoy. A 500lb coffin could not be buried on the island. Diana always said in her lifetime that she wanted to be laid to rest near her beloved father in the Spencer Crypt. Her brother would not have disagreed with her last wishes.. He loved her so much too!
The island is the memorial but not the burial spot.

I think it makes sense to have a place separately for the public to pay their respects since she was so beloved, while keeping the real place hush hush so she can have the peace she didn't get in life. And also because people can be crazy and despicable. If graverobbers managed to get their hands on her, she wouldn't be the first royal whose body has been desercrated. So considering her high popularity to this day, it's best to keep her real location private.

Thank you for this video. I visited Althorp in 2000 but didn't go to the church (St. Mary's of Little Brington) so I am thrilled to see your video. You are like me, appreciating the beauty in the old grave markers. My family is from Haddington in East Lothian, Scotland & I love to walk about the graveyards there. But let me get to the point - since Diana died I have been convinced she was laid to rest in the church, perhaps near her beloved father. He died in 1992. I remember hearing that the Oval island was where the Spencers buried their pets. I don't mean that as a criticism if Diana was interred along side the family pets (I'd like that myself) The ground on that island cannot possibly be deep enough to accommodate a coffin without leaving it to rot when the water table eventually comes into contact with it. Also not long after Diana's death I saw a news clip on TV where a reporter was at St. Mary's & they showed that rectangular spot in the floor that you indicate for us & they were saying in the news segment it was freshly laid back down. They said they believe Diana is there, with her father. She led a lonely life after her marriage, isolated from her friends & the lifestyle she enjoyed. Yes, she was always surrounded by people & got loads of attention but you can be lonely in that situation. I believe the story of her being buried on the island was a ruse to keep the family Chapel from turning into Elvis' Graceland. Ironically it also gave Charles, the current Earl Spencer quite a lucrative revenue stream. Believe me, I know how much I spent the day I was there.
Your video confirms what I believe concerning her final resting place. Again many thanks for sharing it. I.liked & subscribed! Cheers. Heather

I completely agree that she’s buried in the family vault. With such a tradition of burying family there, it doesn’t make any sense to bury her somewhere else. I didn’t realise the family rented out Diana’s old bedroom & honestly, I’m horrified! Talk about cashing in on his sister’s death! To bury Diana on an island in the middle of a lake, is quite simply completely stupid & definitely not lasting. Great video.

Althorp is a tourist attraction. I agree it’s poor taste to rent Diana’s childhood bedroom out. At Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, tourists r not even allow to see Elvis’ bedroom, let alone rent it out.

From the beginning I and others believed that the so-called burial on the island was conceived as being an inaccessible location where people could come, without swarming the grave site, disturbing the actual grave or overwhelming the church. A grave dug on that island would have become almost immediately waterlogged so it would have been a total impracticality to do so. There is no logical reason Why Princess Dianna should be buried in lonely isolation anyway . Of course she is in the church with her ancestors. All else is subterfuge.

I agree...I allways thought a grave would become waterlogged very quickly..not a clever thing to do..so I wouldnt be surprised if it was a fake site..I also agree that she wouldnt be buried in lonely isolation.. the island is a rather lonely place

@@FreeRangeChiHuaHuas you are correct about 'linings' but it's still a very bad idea..I genuinely think it's a good case for 'misdirection'..as was said in the video..three attempts to grave rob were thwarted..imagine their surprise to find an empty grave

I agree with you from all the videos I've watched the royals are entombed in the church where they held her service. if people would watch Prince Philip s funeral it shows what happens after the funeral.

I agree with your beliefs. When Princess Diana died, I was working as a Carer at a Care home built on land gifted by The Spencer family. I had knowlegde from one of the residents that the Church you mention did have stones moved in the family vault area before Dianas funeral, Why would a local elderly person make up such a story?

👩🏻‍💻After actually seeing it up close through you lense Diana, Princess of Wales is not buried on the lake island. So many trees and underbrush to put a tomb there, the water table is a problem for me. Was there even enough time to build a tomb in such a small space, 7 days? Very interesting. Thanks for sharing, now I feel I know Diana a bit better seeing where she lived and grew up, simple and down to earth. Much love and peace. 🙋‍♀️🪔🌠🐞🥰&♎🇬🇧🇺🇲
