Postman here. You would be surprised just how many dogs greet me that way. I know almost every one of them by name, I always have treats for them and unlimited pats and butt scratches. I also have that one dog, where I don't deliver post anymore, but I walk by on my way home, and even though she didn't see me for a year or so, she recognised me almost imidiatelly, grabbed my hand in her teeth and then walked me to her home :P I have many owners, that I am the only stranger their dogs like, because normally they are shy or skittish, but they are happy about me. This is the only thing I will miss about this job when I finally dump it. Edit: I seem to have befriended some crows as well. I give them some treats, and they call each other and land near me and follow me around. Though they don't let me touch them or come too close. One even scratches my bike with his talons to get to treats.
My dogs are still active ignoring our new Postman because they keep on waiting for our old postman (1 yr gone). Only the regular UPS driver and the trash pick up men are welcomed the old fashion way. Only the little furbaby will wag her tail at the new postman.

Pitties are not the same as "bully pits" as I've heard them called--obviously related but in my experience pitties are naturally more relaxed and gentle. I've met lots of delightful pitties.

Years ago, while I was living in Florida, I walked by a yard sale and stopped to take a look. There were dogs walking around greeting people, but I noticed there was a pitbull leashed to a tree just sitting, ears down and looking sullen. I said, "A pitbull!" and walked over to it. He stood up and wagged his tail as I walked over and as soon as I got to him, he flopped onto his back and was all about the tummy scratches. He was really a sweet dog. When I asked the owner why the dog was leashed up I was told that when he was up and around, people were afraid to come to the sale and only started stopping to look when the dog was moved away and leashed. Poor doggie.
@h.l.b.6122 Not sure where you are, but here in the States, when a dog bite is reported by the media, the only time the breed is mentioned is when it's a pit bull of some kind. That is definitely prejudicial. Pit breeds, as in any dog have their own personalities that vary from dog to dog. Generally, pits that attack people have been mistreated, improperly trained, or improperly socialized. All three are human errors.

Our Staffie is exactly the same. Loves human attention and the neighbours love him. He waits by the dwarf wall in the garden for the neighbours to get out of their cars. He doesn't bark, chase cats or sheep. Amazing companion.

I love when dogs are friendly. I had a neighbor when I was growing up, his dogs always came over to the fence, if you were friendly. When one passed away, we'd grieve and tell the neighbor, how much his dog meant to us. Dogs and cats, do bring people together.
She not only brings the community together, but she is a breed ambassador. There are far too many people who think pits are evil, when, in fact, they are sweet goofballs.

Yes, that’s true when they are treated well, but unfortunately there are still lots of people attracted to pit bulls precisely because of their ability to frighten people and kill other dogs, and train them to be weapons. Then there are owners who have no idea how to train or control dogs and let the dog walk all over them and everyone else. Assuming that all pit bulls are sweet and cuddly is just as foolish and unwarranted as assuming they’re all vicious. Dogs are a reflection of their owners; I generally don’t trust a pit bull or a dog from any fighting breed unless I’m cool with the owners first.

In the building I live in we’re allowed to have dogs but not many people do. So when I moved in with my dog Red, he immediately became the “building dog”. He’d wander around the halls, go up and down the elevator, just nudging people’s doors to see if they’d open so he could come in and greet people. One day I thought he’d actually gotten lost, but turns out he’d wandered into a neighbor’s apartment, was sitting on the couch with the neighbor, watching TV. Everybody loved him. And he really helped me be less shy and get to know my neighbors. When he passed three years ago, nearly everyone in the building wished me condolences. Some of them even came to say goodbye just before he passed. It’s amazing how dogs can bring total strangers together. Fly high my sweet boy.
This made my day. Sitting here feeling the floppies on a cloudy day and saw Tubs beautiful smiling sweet delightful face and how joyous she gets when greeting the neighbors. We need a world full of Tubs I swear we do.
It is my sincere hope, wish and prayer that all dogs will experience the type of love that Tubs gets. It does my heart good to see such a well-loved, happy pup!
I have a dog just like this one. He is a rescue. Everyone looks at him and they are instantly terrified. He is the most loving, gentle giant I have ever seen. Beautiful soul. These dogs get a bad rap because of the stupid human in their life.
Used to live with a lovely staffy who'd do that whenever I got in from work, he'd be there with a toy in mouth and tail beating the ground like a drum.
In my experience, that kind of breed does that a lot. That’s def their “thing” I don’t think I’ve ever come home without my dogs greeting me with a toy lol and then they almost wanna give it to you like hey look what I got, but then you try to take it and they’re like HA JK!!! Lol 😂
Tubs's gentle love and joy is infectious. She's such a sweetheart. Kudos to Isabella and Connor for recognizing that, and letting her create and share happiness in their community as well as themselves. There's a reason this breed is called nanny dogs in some parts of the world.
We shared our lives with a Dachshund for many, many years. She was & will always be Family. We used to say/still say; Technically she doesn't belong to us --- We belong to her. They are a gift. I once heard something that's so very true: Humans are born and then learn love, learn - to - love. So humans need many years to grasp that ability. But animals are born with love, ready TO love & RECEIVE love from the start. That's why they don't live as long. They don't need all those years to acquire the ability.
Tubs is the best example of how a dogs shows unconditional love and acceptance. It’s like Tubs’ family is not just the couple but the whole neighborhood. 🐶❤️👏👏👏

The way he was holding her in his lap and she just looked so calm and content was so sweet. I am so glad that the neighbors are petting her and saying hello, that they aren't afraid to pet her. I've heard so many stories where a sweet pitties just wants to be pet by the people that walk by but they are scared to pet them. It's so heart warming!

Look up the article called 5 types of pit bull bog breeds, it’ll tell you some of the breeds that are considered pit bulls or bully breeds. It’s important to know because of the discrimination around these dog breeds, like at apartments and even vet offices.

Not sure where you are, but here in the States, when a dog bite is reported by the media, the only time the breed is mentioned is when it's a pit bull of some kind. That is definitely prejudicial. Pit breeds, as in any dog have their own personalities that vary from dog to dog. Generally, pits that attack people have been mistreated, improperly trained, or improperly socialized. All three are human errors.

I love when dogs are friendly. I had a neighbor when I was growing up, his dogs always came over to the fence, if you were friendly. When one passed away, we'd grieve and tell the neighbor, how much his dog meant to us. Dogs and cats, do bring people together.
I had a neighbor who did the same thing for about 4 years until there dog bit through my brothers hand and was put down

Yes, that’s true when they are treated well, but unfortunately there are still lots of people attracted to pit bulls precisely because of their ability to frighten people and kill other dogs, and train them to be weapons. Then there are owners who have no idea how to train or control dogs and let the dog walk all over them and everyone else. Assuming that all pit bulls are sweet and cuddly is just as foolish and unwarranted as assuming they’re all vicious. Dogs are a reflection of their owners; I generally don’t trust a pit bull or a dog from any fighting breed unless I’m cool with the owners first.

In the building I live in we’re allowed to have dogs but not many people do. So when I moved in with my dog Red, he immediately became the “building dog”. He’d wander around the halls, go up and down the elevator, just nudging people’s doors to see if they’d open so he could come in and greet people. One day I thought he’d actually gotten lost, but turns out he’d wandered into a neighbor’s apartment, was sitting on the couch with the neighbor, watching TV. Everybody loved him. And he really helped me be less shy and get to know my neighbors. When he passed three years ago, nearly everyone in the building wished me condolences. Some of them even came to say goodbye just before he passed. It’s amazing how dogs can bring total strangers together. Fly high my sweet boy.

I have a dog just like this one. He is a rescue. Everyone looks at him and they are instantly terrified. He is the most loving, gentle giant I have ever seen. Beautiful soul. These dogs get a bad rap because of the stupid human in their life.

The way he was holding her in his lap and she just looked so calm and content was so sweet. I am so glad that the neighbors are petting her and saying hello, that they aren't afraid to pet her. I've heard so many stories where a sweet pitties just wants to be pet by the people that walk by but they are scared to pet them. It's so heart warming!
