Hey guys, if you want to dive deeper into this tutorial and also download the Procreate file for this lesson make sure to check the Gumroad link in the description of this video! Happy Holidays!
Now this is what I watch procreate tips for. Not basic features like "how to make a straight line," but outside-the-box stuff like "how to cheat with the motion blur tool to make 3D letters." You might be able to achieve the same effect faster with curves & layer masks. Rather than select the motion blur layer > make a new layer > color it blue, color it blue, color it blue, color it blue, etc; instead you can make a new layer > fill it blue > select the motion blur layer > create a layer mask on the fully blue layer > use curves to move the white almost all the way left.
Hello Ghost paper, at 4:34 i did exactly what you said but i don't have the same result. The layer is becoming full blue(from the color) all over the screen. Can you help me please?
Bambata Candt no worries, make sure that you follow the step at 4:15, where we have to make a selection from the motion blur layer and then keep that selection as you paint with blue onto a new layer. Good luck!
Tried this at least a dozen times, the shading often caused yellow bleed into the blue and more often did not work. No subscribe from me although this comment helps… hoping you will address the issue in follow up blog using 5.2! HOPEFUL

It’s almost like you read my mind, I was just thinking I want to do something like this 👌🏼 thanks
When I create layer 5, it brushes on everything. Not only wow blurred layer. What do you think is wrong here?
Super helpful🙏

@@ghostpaper Thank you for your reply, I will try again. Maybe it is because i have not updated to Procreate 5..
It was happening to me too, keep hitting select on that layer until u see zebra lines, then create the new layer then fill
Hi there! May i check if you have found a solution? I am experiencing the same issue as you too ):
I can’t do this step.
sweet! this is pretty cool
Did they change this from 4? I remember doing this technique before but you didnt have to fill in the selected motion layer so much.
I think they must have changed it! I noticed that too, it was easier in 4
What does rasterize mean?
Knowing these tricks can earn extra income
WOW!

Wow 💣💥💣
😍
This was difficult to follow without consistently pausing and going back for a beginner.
Same. A 10 minute video usually takes me around 50 minutes and that's with playback slowed down too. Then I've forgotten how to do it again.
so all i had to do is use motion blur this whole time!?!?
Darkening the shadow by selecting and brushing on new layer is not working as per the instructions in ver 5.1.8. Pls suggest the updated flow.
Way too fast dude. Slow it down a bit.
Speak too fast
