Why is there no discussion of what Trump's policy toward Israel's actions in Gaza would be? Trump and Netanyahu share a predilection for autocracy and antipathy for Muslims/Arabs.

Agree-do all these Michigan voters listen? Yes they can protest Biden’s policies but did they hear Trump promise to round up 10 million undesirables (do they not know Muslims are probably at the top) and inter them in Texas. A Trump presidency will annoy me but as a WASP I doubt my life will change much and my taxes will probably go down-yet I vote Democrat mainly to help others in this country. If their vote or nonvote elects Trump-no sympathy for what will happen.

The ice cream does not matter, it was an optics argument. Optics in politics does matter, from a purely electability standpoint. It particularly matters to Biden re Gaza, bc many of his voters already see him as too callous on the matter of Palestinian lives. The substance is obviously fundamentally more important, which is why he then addressed the substance of the answer. Either way, it ended up looking bad for Biden, both in terms of substance and optics.

Buttigieg will never have enough support from blacks unless he finds a way to make amends for firing the first black police chief when he was mayor of South Bend. Pete was getting literally 0% of the black vote in multiple primary contests back in 2020.
Also, I don't know if the USA is ready to vote for an openly gay president. We're still not even ready to vote for an openly non-religious one.
And personally, as someone who supported Bernie in 2020, I think Pete is an establishment guy to his bones and I didn't like his attitude and some of the things he said during the 2020 primary. Like most establishment liberals, he sounds good when he's attacking Republicans, but he'll show his true colors when dealing with the left wing of his own party.

He ran before, I thought he was great but I think there’s too much intolerance of him being gay to be elected in the US. In New Zealand our Deputy Prime Minister in the last government is gay, nobody cares, we wanted a good job done that’s what’s important. He’s just announced he’s retiring from politics to take up a job at a university. Good for him, but a big loss to his party. He has been a Member of Parliament for about 15 years.

If I were Biden and I truly cared how people felt about issues close to their heart, I'd be paying attention and having meaningful conversations with them. I honestly believe that there's solutions to any issue when people work together for the common good! If he can stand with striking union workers, he should be standing with other groups who need him!! That's what a president for we the people does!

Listening to Pete describing life with twins. I can totally relate! I'm the mother of not one but two sets of twins 16 months apart! The first set I was a single parent with a teenage son. You find ways to make things work; from feeding to changing diapers to playing to bonding on an individual level. I liken it to on-the-job training. You do what you gotta do! I wasn't afraid to ask my son for help or any of his friends or mine if they were around and I felt I needed it. Sometimes, I got it regardless. Having the 2nd set so close to the 1st set made things more hectic but also more interesting! Now, they're young productive adults at 25 and 24 years old who are doing well for themselves and I'm proud of each and every one of them!

We are 51 so when we were little we turned heads bc there weren’t lots of twins around and my brother was so little. Now, just as we planned since we were super little, we live only a couple houses away from each other. She is my best friend. What a gift.

As an Albanian-Lebanese American who was born, raised and still resides in Detroit, myself and many I know abstained entirely or voted "uncommitted" this primary as a direct result of this administrations stance on what is happening in Gaza. This isn't just another news cycle story for us. We, loved ones or friends of loved ones we know have felt this in our communities. We want to urge the President into action to do something to curb the violence and bring it to an end as quickly as possible, not welcome fascism into the U.S. with open arms. None of us want to see Trump in office again, although I cannot speak for everyone. We have to, and will, vote our conscience and continue to hope it is enough to bend his ear and still push back against what could be even worse if Trump is re-elected in November.

    • @Lll20498

I have no connections to Palestinians. I'm not Arab or Muslim and none of my lineage is from the Middle East. I'm a Christian Midwestern housewife (in a swing state). The carnage in Gaza has been horrific to watch. The more I learn about Palestine the more convinced I am that what is happening to the Palestinian people is a grave moral injustice. I am appalled by the role America continues to play in the oppression, murder, and displacement of Palestinians.
It's been especially discombobulating to see the apathy and the "whaddya gonna do" response from Democrats and this administration. Biden and his administration have NOT done a decent job of projecting a sense of empathy for the Palestinians. Again, I say this as a person who has zero ties to Palestine. I think I am the voter they assume will be able to shrug it off and ignore it. But I can't.
My husband (Caucasian, Christian, midwestern, white collar) is also horrified. We talk about it every day.
We have voted in every single election for the past two decades. We are not voting blue no matter who. We don't like Trump. But we also get the message that the Democrats think (hope?) everything is fine so presumably they don't need us. The messaging is messy. It feels contradictory simultaneously:
_Not voting Blue en masse will definitely end our fragile democracy.
_We are NOT worried that Biden will lose.
_If Biden loses, it's your fault.
_We know everyone will vote for him in November anyway
In the end...I hear the "we aren't worried about your vote" message loudest because of Biden's inaction and the Democrats basically making the rounds saying people who care about Gaza are Arabs, Muslims, Palestinians or progressive college kids - although we are none of those things. 🤷‍♀️

      @@Lll20498 Good on you.
Basically what the Democrats are saying about the people who voted to indicate their strong support for stopping the carnage in Gaza, amounts to a disinformation campaign. I know, hardly a surprise in politics. However when you're trying to present as saving democracy from an opposition candidate whose campaign is based in lies, how good a strategy is it really to mount your own disinformation campaign?

Look at the previous ceasefire. It was fine, Hamas kept their word, hostages were released, rockets stopped. The Houthis stopped attacking shipping. What didn't happen was the increase in aid, even now they are slow walking it and destroying the ability to deliver it.
One of the biggest lie of great many by the Israelis is the idea you can't talk to Hamas or won't hold up their part of the deal. I am not worried about another Hamas attack in a future ceasefire. I am far more worried about Israelis unilaterally attacking or maintaining the blockade.
