Awesome series of the time and Wanda Ventham was my first schoolboy older woman crush. Incidentally she is Benedict Cumberbatch's mother. On one episode Ed Bishop's car tried to kill him. One of the cars used was a poorly fabricated and by road standards, unsafe, build on a Rover chassis. ..in a driving scene the grp body broke loose from the chassis resulting in a detour in to a roadside ditch....Bishop was driving at the time. Thanks for the reminder....I'm going to have to find the UFO series on DVD now👍

There is a strong Italian connection in UFO & Space 1999 being co-produced with Italian TV. The alien in UFO sometimes seen was mainly played by an Italian actor. Needless to say, both shows a very popular in Italy and there is a great Italian UFO fan club.

Straker would become a woman (the 'strong' female lead), Foster and Freeman would become what I believe we must now call 'persons of colour' (POCs?), Carlin on Sky 1 would tick the gay man box, while the moonbase ladies..., well, let's just say they'd enjoy one another's company... a lot... As for the Aliens? Well, obvious when you think about it... As the bad guys, they'd be the only white heterosexual males to get a look in...

I do not know where they got the women on that show. But, (wow!!!!) they were beautiful. Even the more mature women were good-looking.

In current timelines it would be shite if rebooted..leave it in its great and glorious past…look what they’ve done to worzel gummidge!!
But reboot it 1970s style. Same era, just better weapons. I mean the shado interceptor has a fundamental flaw in its arsenal.
