Great video, but in series I believe it was shown atleast once that sky 1 was able to self dock with the sub while at sea without aid. On the other hand it's still a great idea to have a mobile base that tends to the skydiver fleet.
Wonderfully unnecessarily complicated in the true Anderson tradition. The only thing missing was some stirring Barry Gray music. This was awesome - thanks!

This CGI is absolutely fantastic! I'm a lifelong UFO/Skydiver/SkyOne fan, so I can really appreciate your work here. Not that I won't offer a few well-meant critiques... You know, for future updated versions! I'd clarify that what's portrayed here is the more elaborate docking procedure that's required in certain instances. Following normal missions -- sea and fighter conditions permitting -- Sky One can redock underwater without external equipment. Some UFO episode scripts included the statement, "Sky One has redocked with Skydiver". Also, there were some references to "Replacement Sky One". In "Ordeal" , as Col. Foster pilots Sky One toward some unmentioned SHADO base, he looks out to the right and we see the replacement Sky One headed opposite direction. Skydiver transmits, "Roger. Commencing redocking procedure." But YES, when the fighter needs rearmament or maintenance, or when sea conditions are too rough, this magnificent Skydiver-tender ship is excellent for the job. (SHADO SkyTender?) VTOL. OK, there was at least one episode ("The Long Sleep") in which Sky One seemed to hover. Separately, in "A Question Of Priorities", Capt. Carlin is ordered to go ashore to command the Mobile Recon group, which he does. Thereafter we see "Replacement Sky One" (SID's words) blast off from Skydiver to do an interception as ordered. So we conclude that Carlin flew and landed Sky One in the Irish plains, perhaps using VTOL. However, a single ventral rocket nozzle would not allow any stability or control for a VTOL operation. I'd recommend four smaller gimballing nozzles in a rectangular pattern on the bottom... maybe also adding some small wingtip nozzles. Sky One flying low over the ocean surface, kicking up wake, is gorgeous! I know that the orange flames of the rocket boosters is a great visual, but in the various UFO episodes the boosters were never used for level flight. They were shown shutting down shortly after the launch from Skydiver UNLESS needed to propel Sky One quickly and directly into the upper stratosphere for a high altitude intercept (as in "Exposed"). Or, maybe not, keep it all as it is. It's truly fine work, much appreciated!

Great job. Brilliantly done. They should use your talents if they ever remake this series. I don't suppose the ship in your animation 'Liparus II' is a little nod to the Stromberg ship in James Bond The Spy Who Loved Me?
Thank you for creating work that gives a much bigger world for UFO fans old and new to live in and go on and create new stories, new effects. The effects are superb and beautifully written and executed with an eye on your what the original FX inspires.
Damn beautiful, top notch animation and execution. The flight just above sea level was awesome. Job well done. I always figured Sky reconnected to Diver either underwater or on the surface, I never figured it could be done this way. I did notice that Sky wasn't refueled as part of the procedure. In the CGI Captain Scarlet, the Angels were refueled and rearmed and even had the canopy cleaned as they were conveyed under the cloud base runway to emerge on the other side of the flight deck ready for takeoff. Maybe Sky was being refueled from the moment the clamps connected and while it was being conveyed back to Diver. Still, fantastic, I enjoyed watching over and over.
Well Done! Your version is much more believable than the one and only episode of UFO that showed the re-coupling. In that episode, the aircraft made a water landing, filled its' ballast tanks so it would sink below the surface, and then the sub and aircraft would re-dock below the surface (not very believable). There was a second episode that showed a sea cave that was used as a sub pen for Skydiver maintenance, but again only a short piece of a single episode. Best not to sweat the details back in the 60's. Again, your version is much better and certainly more plausible.
Makes sense. A disguised oil tanker that acts as a tender for Skydiver, and probably has more comfortable quarters and recreation facilities for the crew of the submarine. I liked the detail of a spare Sky interceptor in the hangar. The only issue I'd have is operational. Something as high performance as the Sky interceptor is going to need frequent maintenance. When the first Sky interceptor landed after a mission, I'd expect it to be transported to a maintenance bay and inspected, rearmed and refuelled. The pilot would swap to the other interceptor, which has been rearmed and refuelled, and that interceptor gets mated with the Diver submarine. No reflection on your animation which was top notch, and very in keeping with the style of the show.
@@colormedubious4747 That would give an incoming UFO a surface target to hit. As it is, trhe Sky interceptor only goes there once the UFO has either been shot down or has landed.
Considering Skydiver only had a few onboard I’m not surprised she’s was that small. Cool design, tho. I would’ve thought all this could’ve been done by the crew underwater, similar to how the Seaview reacquired the flying sub.
I think I saw the plane part diving directly and docking by itself in an episode where it saves a warship from an UFO attack at the last moment, when the bridge crew was already resigned that the next shot would sink them. But this looks much more doable,
Whilst the video sequence is stunning, the process seems impractical. After Sky 1 has completed it’s mission the whole system is redundant until the aircraft and submarine parts have rendezvous with the relatively vulnerable surface vessel, which would have to stay in close proximity to the sub to avoid long sailing times to join up. If you have to use a surface vessel you might as well use an aircraft carrier to launch and recover Sky 1, although not as visually attractive as the Skydiver combo. Does look great though.

Excellent work, I think the best I’ve seen of the ‘unseen’ bits and bobs of UFO. Looks like you even got the back detail of Sky1 right to the miniature, with no obvious place for that chute to connect. That’s often a problem with various Anderson machines…😁 (Ok, being fair, that rectangle bit at the top could be a watertight cover that moves out of the way but I dunno) It’s fairly well shown in the show(but not with miniatures, just action, dialogue and implication) that Sky and Diver redock under water. This takes nothing away from your work because the need to maintain and resupply is inferred by having resupply ships mentioned. Your tanker is perfect. One thing if I may, I do think you need some arms to extend to Diver for stabilization as well, that moonpool means Diver is subject to ocean motion different than the ship, and you can’t rely on perfect calm seas when you need to be back up on patrol soonest. I could also see a container ship as being part of the resupply fleet. That might be a dandy way to also transport Mobiles to different locations that don’t have a long runway airport near. Mind, the aliens do seem fixated on England for their hijinks. 😁

I’m impressed. Job job!
Just wonderful.
Very cool. I was a Fan of the UFO show. This was nicely done!
superb... could do with more of that secrecy today...sshhhh!
This was extremely well done. Some great fluid work going on here
That was amazing , nicely done cgi animation 👍
What an outstanding video. I can’t imagine what the Andersons might have done with today’s technologies. They were groundbreaking in their day. There is so much not covered in the shows and I, for one, have written a number of derivative stories based on UFO, Thunderbirds, and Space 1999. Bravo Zulu.
What an adorably stubby little interceptor!
Awesome work! Congratulations for all the way from concept, to finish! 😎
Very impressive work. The long shot of Sky 1 in that low turn is very cool. I would love to see a reboot of “UFO” with updated but respectful redesigns of the technology, like the excellent “Battlestar Galactica” reboot.
Unbelievable just perfect
Nice Work!😎👍
Thanks I really enjoyed this.
I trust that those who have criticised your work will be kind enough to send you links to their own efforts :)
