That is not correct. I have hockey skates and I have do all of the edge control that figure skaters can do and I can do all of the single jumps including the axle. You have to bee EXTREMELY balances of hockey to to this but it is possible.

Not really. Sebi is not a good hockey player and Daniela is an pretty experienced figure skater. Also his skates arent made for tricks like that. Sure he couldt perform her tricks but she could do his either. She couldnt even lift the puck and totaly failed on the michigan. She couldnt even have flow in her skatin motions with the stick in her hands. I love both tho so dont get me wrong :)

Morgan Bolduc Well we play hockey every winter here in Finland. And I can say that none of the guys could perform any of the tricks that figureskaters do. We all skate and play fairly well, some even play in Liiga.
Then you guys obviously arent very skilled. Trust me a lot of people think they skate very well but once they actually compare themselves to a good hockey player they will see they are very far behind. Sure probably everyone can skate forwards, backwards, stop and mby even crossovers. I can do alot figure skating tricks as well, but once you actually gets into the sport you will notice a much harder technique than you expected. Making the blade even flatter (like goalie skates) would make matters worse, not better. You can't do spins and pivots on flat blades. Press a ruler into a rug and see how easy it is to pivot it. Now try the same thing with a coin.

The blade profiles are optimized to make these motions difficult on non-optimized blades. it is basically impossible to spin more that once on an arched blade (i.e. the hockey skate) and cutting just doesn't work the same way with a flat blade and toe pick, so they have developed different foot work, and Daniela does full pirouette instead of pivot turn (first hockey drill) because there is no arch and the movement is "more elegant" they aren't the same . I am going to stop analyzing there cause it is designed to be a false comparison

Im a terrible skater so maybe my opinion is stupid. Figure skatieng seems way harder but theyre always skating preset moves on preset routes on a completely open ice.( not counting when the man lifts the girl which seems ridiculously hard) On the other hand in hockey u are not only skating but playing a game which implicates following a small rubber puck which has a lot of unexpected moves also u have to keep ya head up for guys who want to smack ,you have to basically run on skates as you play a super fast paced game with a lot other people on ice & im not even talking about dekes & stick handling or fighting , the game is so fast paced we see a lot of times NHLers which are the best hockey players in the planet stumble, fall or lose their edges cause the way the have to skate while playing seems pretty hard. Overall we all agree figure skating is much harder & that a figure skater is an overall better skater but considering all the things that happen during a hockey game, a lot of then unexpected I dont think we can really say Figure Skaters are that much superior to Hockery Skaters. As I said I suck at skating I respect both but I feel hockey players get a bit disrespected when compared to figure skaters.
I can spin on hockey skates like that... It's fucking easy, I could do it when I was 10 with barely trying... I used to be able to do a front flip fully geared, might take some practice now hahaha.
Considering it’s practically impossible to do spins and jumps in hockey skates I think it was very unfair to the hockey player. You could argue that you can’t play hockey in figure skates either and I’d say you were right but the thing is, they weren’t playing hockey. There was no stopping, starting, tight turns, explosive speed, ect which you need hockey skates for. All she had to do was skate in a straight line at the net.

Sebi had more distance per stride so he is a better skater and figure skating moves are almost impossible on hockey skates

I can spin on hockey skates like that... It's fucking easy, I could do it when I was 10 with barely trying... I used to be able to do a front flip fully geared, might take some practice now hahaha.

Idk maybe if I remember. Should be playing on a mens league this fall, might be able to do it again.
I was taught how to skate by an olympic figure skater when I was little, so that might be a factor lol.

Considering it’s practically impossible to do spins and jumps in hockey skates I think it was very unfair to the hockey player. You could argue that you can’t play hockey in figure skates either and I’d say you were right but the thing is, they weren’t playing hockey. There was no stopping, starting, tight turns, explosive speed, ect which you need hockey skates for. All she had to do was skate in a straight line at the net.
