    Do we use soil to incubate snail in soilless pen?

      It's not compulsory, but you can also use soil for incubation.
      Over here, we use both sawdust and soil.

    Can I use sawdust to hatch the eggs

      Yes, you can use sawdust.... We've used it severally.

    Is the sand treated or just any loamy sand from the ground.

      I usually do not treat my incubation soil and I've never had any challenge resulting from that, but a lot of farmers for boil (sterilize) their soil, and it works for them too I suppose.
      But I do not treat that.

      You can use a seperate pen for the purpose of incubation and hatching your snail eggs

    What is the first feed to give the newly breed.

      First thing to do is to quickly rinse them in clean water, then add them in the pen and supply soft leafs or fruits; those are best delicacies for baby snails

    Thanks, please how many days will it take it to hatch?

    Why do the hatchlings drag along other eggs to the top when they have hatched out?

    • @BonniehoodFarms
      @BonniehoodFarms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's their normal routine... When eggs hatch, the snails would stay under the soil for few days after that, they try to find their way to the top, that process of movements distracts other eggs and move them to the top.
      Now, that's one thing; the other thing is, eggs serve as calcium sources for snails and so they dig out the eggs, drag them to the top to eat them

      Thanks but how do you actually line the soil less pen with the sacks?

    After hatching will you put the baby snail in thesame pen with old ones?

    • @BonniehoodFarms
      @BonniehoodFarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you put them in seperate or in a pen containing other baby snails. Snails of same sizes are expected to be in the same pen. You can't mix big and small snails.

    Should I always sprinkle water everyday when I see that the soil is dry.... Moreso, will the hatchlings come out themselves when they hatch?

    • @BonniehoodFarms
      @BonniehoodFarms  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, sprinkle water once you notice that the soil is getting dry... That moisture must be maintained.
      You don't have to burry them deep, 2cm deep is fine so they can come out once they hatch. But again, you can scoop and check the soil once it's expected time of hatching, just from 5 days after the expected day of hatching

    I thought we were told not to touch the eggs with our bare hands but rather use plastic spoons instead
    ...or is there something more to it?

    • @BonniehoodFarms
      @BonniehoodFarms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There's a lot more to it.... I've been in snail farming for several years and in all my years I used bare hands mainly and we still have good hatchability.
      So, touching eggs does not prevent eggs from hatching, it is when you hold them in your hands for a long time.

    • @BonniehoodFarms
      @BonniehoodFarms  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Basically, not touching eggs is a beginners knowledge, just to keep you the safer side. But the statement is not entirely true

    How many days does it take to hatch snail eggs

    • @BonniehoodFarms
      @BonniehoodFarms  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Snail eggs would hatch at 21 days, slightly plus or minus. Species like AA and AF have been recorded to have their eggs hatched at earlier dates as early as 10 days to 15 days.
      But most times, the hatching time depends on how well the incubation process is prepared. Nonetheless, the days stated above are what you can work with.
