Peugeot's 308 family hatch gets far more polish in this third generation guise, with smarter packaging, extra engineering options and a bit more useful technology. The result is a more desirable product than you might expect from this familiar Gallic brand. You might be surprised at how much you'd like it.
You might not have ever thought of the Peugeot 308 family hatch as being truly aspirational but maybe it's time to start. Peugeot's been making Focus-class models for half a century and we're already on the third generation of the one badged '308'. This is the most up-market version yet, in keeping with the Peugeot brand's more premium positioning within the new Stellantis Group formed by the merger of PSA and Fiat.
The last 308 wasn't really a car many customers would have chosen in preference to a Golf, let alone anything premium, but this MK3 version might be. Everything's different - even the front Peugeot grille badge. And the sharky looks clothe a cabin that could just be the segment's most sophisticated. Premium values with mainstream value? Is that what we've got here?
    Let's find out.

Once you drive a Peugeot with icockpit you simply can't go back into stoneage and hold the big steering wheel and look down through it.

100% , driving other cars is like driving a bus and it feels so bad. iCockpit is safer and feels so much more engaging.

Looking forward to receiving mine in a few months, although the production and delivery to UK is slow at the moment. Always a pleasure to see the reviews by OSV. Very thorough, informative and eloquently put as always. Thank you.

This is a great in depth review of the Peugeot 308. I have driven the hatch and I was quite impressed with the quality of the ride and handling. In Australia we have just the fully loaded GT and GT Premium including Nappa leather, so prices are premium as well. At this stage the only engine is the 3 pot 97 kw unit which I think is a bit underdone for this car. The PHEV is coming later this year.

    • @allanbriggs807

Yes - In AUSTRALIA the diesel engine would be the best option.

Next time try to park the car in a narrow garage with several floors say from the 1980s, or a modern one with very limited space to save costs and max number of parking spaces. Try it without the 360 camera and with the camera. Good luck!

You would probably be ok as the visibility is pretty good all round bar rear quarters which have long been issues on hatchbacks I am thinking talbot horizon Peugeot 309 Astra for example

Nice car. Especially the 308-SW version, but unfortunately the NCAP safety tests are not good. E.g. the adult occupant protection is below average (weak driver protection on Frontal impact). Strange that nobody mentions this in all the youtube reviews I've seen ...

Peugeot made some attractive cars but their reliability is none existent. Stellantis still has a lot to learn about reliability. I like Peugeot though.

    • @garnray8568
      @garnray8568 ปีที่แล้ว

Ridiculous comment. It's no longer the 90's, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee. Peugeot cars score excellent in all safety and reliability tests, in all European countries. I am driving the 3008 SUV, since 2017, 100.000 km+, not a single technical issue. You clearly just don't know what you are talking about. Peugeot have levelled up big time since 2012-2014. Educate yourself before posting comments, thank you very much.

We've had Peugeots in our family since 1957. Their greatest attribute is their reliability, comfort and handling. The only time where they had problems was in the late 1990's early 2000's.
My 404 did 220,000 kms without any major repair, my 1978 8 seater 504 familie did 268,000kms and my present 308 has done 155,000kms without any issues. They are great cars in the main. Have a look at their rally records over the years.

@@mrgurulittle7000 No - it's quite normal - I live in Australia and Peugeots are in their element there. Long distances and average roads (in the main) - they thrive as touring is their forte. And the engines just keep going. Our family has had PEUGEOTS SINCE 1957. Extremely reliable - comfortable and great handling. Not sure about the newer engines that have to comply with European emission standards. (we don't have those out here)
For example, I have the older 2L Diesel engine. Absolutely brilliant. Both my mechanics (European car specialists) have told me to run my 308 diesel into the ground. Wait for a few years until the electric engines have been perfected before buying one - the 1.2 petrol tech engines are to be avoided.
