I just activated this phone today to replace my 3g Samsung Rugby, which is a bummer because after 10+ years the rugby still works fine! Thank you for your helpful videos on getting this thing set up and running.
I'm in same situation. Had to retire my Kyocera DuraXE I've had for about 6 years. The new version is smarter than I prefer, so I'm shopping around and quickly realizing dumb phones have really slipped in quality. Many of them have really atrocious T9 predictive text, and "dumb phone review videos" really feel like they were created by people who don't actually use dumb phones as their regular everyday phone, so I'm really struggling to find one I like. Since you have this one, I was wondering if you could help me out. What I'd like to know is, if you're in t9: - does it automatically capitalize the first word in a sentence? - does it recognize and capitalize common names? - does it default to 'I' when you press the 4 button once?
Also with all the bands and frequencies this phone has...it's a great phone for travelers in the world. Especially travellers who travel in tropical developing nations. It can takes drops, abuse, and heavy monsoon rains and keep right on ticking. I bought one UNLOCKED FOR TRAVEL, and I just switch out SIM cards in whatever country I'm in. I inserted a 128GB Sandisk Extreme MicroSDXC card for photo and music storage. This phone also has Bluetooth, so you can use Bluetooth earbuds with it, although I still use wired earbuds for now. Music sounds fantastic through good earbuds. I have lots of albums stored on the phone. I like the Sonim XP3 flip phone so much that I bought a second one, also unlocked for international travel, (again with a holster pouch, Sandisk 128GB Extreme and my stored music) for a spare in case one disappears during my travels. I also bought a tough military type holster/pouch for it, with both velcro closing and a buckle closing for extra security, (I don't trust just velcro),. and a few different ways to carry it on your belt. I don't use the stainless steel belt clip. I put my belt right through the heavy duty loop on the back. More secure. see the several pictures on Amazon. www.amazon.com/AGOZ-Holster-Rugged-Vertical-Carrying/dp/B07STXHWVN/ref=sr_1_6?crid=33ZRR3P3E1Z3P&keywords=holster+pouch+for+sonim+XP3+flip&qid=1654802857&sprefix=holster+pouch+for+sonim+xp3+flip%2Caps%2C84&sr=8-6
We have two of these phones. One phone has become so quiet when trying to hear a caller, it's almost impossible to hear. I have turned it onto "Outside" and it is a little better. All setting are at MAX for sound. Any idea what is wrong and how to fix this?
Hi Rose, The earpiece volume will only adjust during a call. Call this phone from the other one and turn up the volume after you answer the call. What usually happens is that the person using the phone is accidentally pressing the volume keys during a call and this turns it down. Give it a try and let me know. Thanks
Hi hoping sum1 can help me. This phone has a personal dictionary where you can add words or abbreviations. Go to settings then system in system go to languages and in put then flex T9 text input then personal dictionary. It's a GR8 feature but I need help with an issue. I have put in my own words and it has been working GR8 for a month. All of a sudden the words I have added don't appear and when you try to add a new word or delete a word and re add it it's not working. Has any1 had this problem if so do you know how to fix it? TY
Brian, I am new to xp3. When I get a second call coming in, answer it, switch to new call, hang up with first caller, I get a double beep every 10 seconds, even when both calls are ended! I had to shut off phone and restart to stop the beep. Any idea how to prevent that, or stop it while ongoing?
I really like this phone, but my camera has stopped working. Any thought on getting that going again? When I select camera, it sets there for just a second or 2 and goes back to the menu.
What is the best Sonim model (or any other brand ) for a tech challenged very basic senior ? I don't mind spending a bit more to get quality. I'm using Bell MTS in Manitoba and need something that works with that.
If all you want is to make phone calls the XP3 Plus flip phone is the way to go. If you want anything more than that you need to move to a Smartphone and be willing to learn new skills. It is a big jump. Sometimes simple is best.
Hi Steven, Go into Menu, Settings, System, Programmable Key. Select PTT and choose a different feature that you would like to open with the Red Button.
Hi. I would like to delete the browser on this phone. Is it possible to do that? If yes, would you be able to tell me how? Thank you very much for your helpful video.
Hi! Was just sent a few links to your videos I'm working through them now. 1st thank you for jumping straight into the phone without 5 minutes of BS beforehand. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm off to watch a video of the 8 (I think) Aaron.
@@Bryanthecellphoneguy What is wrong with the texting feature? I'm trying to figure out what's so bad about texting on this phone (sonim xp3), but I can't find details. Is it just because it's difficult to add a new word? If so, then I'm okay with this since I've never had a smart phone, and I text A LOT, and I'm used to T9 on phones not always recognizing the words I need. But if a problem (not covered in your video) is that it won't capitalize first letter in a sentence automatically, or T9 doesn't prioritize "I" when you click the 4, or it can't predict contractions, that's a different story. Your input would be most helpful.
You need to increase the volume while you are on a call. If you adjust the volume when you are not on a call you are adjusting the ringer not the earpiece volume.
When I see a review that's includes "Two years later" in the title, I expect it to be a review with thoughts and opinions after two years of use. Not a long, unnecessarily drawn out how-to video.
I'm looking to buy this phone as a primary basic phone and use it as a "router" if Hot Spot fonction works good to use my 2 years old Galaxy Note 10+! What do you think about this?
I don't think that's is a good idea. Most people who use this phone have a voice only plan so hotspotting would not be available. The only thing you could do is use it as a WIFI booster to extend your home network.
@@mrozborn100 Agreed! I finally bought one, it has hotspot, wi-fi calling when in an area without cell phone coverage and all! The battery is good for couple days except when you use it has a hotspot indeed! :) Thanks for the comment! :)
how do I login into maps? I'm having trouble. I was able to put my email but it asks me to type a letter that's showing me to prove that I'm not a robot. By pressing ok to select a letter, it automatically assumes that I'm done typing, so it changes the letter I'm suppose to type. I cannot type them all because of this issue therefore, I'm not able to log in. Can you help me please?
If you need email and mapping, this is the wrong phone for you. It is meant to be a simple voice and occasional text device. It doesn't do any data function well.
Hi. Go to Settings, Sound, and see which profile is selected. Then scroll down to Notifications. Using the right arrow button increase the sound level. Then push end to go back to the main screen. When you are in the Sounds menu you have four choices for Profiles. Keep in mind that these are just names for the group of Settings you have selected. In other words Silence does not mean no sound. It means whatever you have selected in the Silence profile. Does that help?
@@blizzardbaby Hi. The Plus gives you 10 smiley faces. Not a big improvement. You can also add a subject line and attach pictures or files. @@Bryanthecellphoneguy Yes, very helpful. I was hoping to buy this phone for my elderly mom who likes to use emojis. I wish we could do a trial of this phone just to see what they look like.
