Thank you for putting this video up, It's very informative! I'm planning to move to Brazil for retirement and Floripa stands in my top 3 destinations. I hope you guys have a marvellous time in Floripa and a smooth safe delivery for your baby 💐
I really appreciate that. My wife was the one who wanted to start this channel. I'm glad to see people are enjoying it. We'll continue putting out more videos!
people in RIO are warmer but jumpier, because they need to know first who they are dealing with, whereas in floripa they are slower but more polite, like people in th US or europe, so that works for tourists better, in my opinion
I’m very curious about your experience. I’ve had my eyes on Ingleses for more than a year. Apartments are affordable. I’m going to retire to Brazil next year. My reservation about this location is that it might be too “touristy”. What’s your sense about how life might be like living there year round.
I had the same reservations before we moved here but so far it hasn't felt like that at all. We also moved right after the busy season and I know it does get a lot of tourists from November to March. I will post more about it when that time comes.
Saquarema is not a good representation of services provided in Rio. This might confuse people about what is offered in Rio de Janeiro State. There is really not much in Saquarema. Niterói for example is full of Hospitals and Clinics. CHN for example is on Newsweek list of best Hospitals in Brazil. And the city has one of the highest IDH index in Brazil.
It depends on where in Floripa because there are so many different neighborhoods. Where we live now in Ingleses it is pretty comparable but I know they have more fancy dining downtown that would be more pricey than Saqua.
Are you guys familiar with the Friday evening English speakers in Florianópolis weekly dinner out at restaurants social gatherings? There’s a WhatsApp group called FILES that keeps us all in touch with each other about the weekly event, where it will be held. If you are interested in that let me know. I’ve been here in Floripa since May 1.
American in Cachoeria do bom Jesus, Floripa here - you're spot on about drying clothes. I'm here until July 28th looking for a home - any tips or tricks?
Man I still haven't really figured it out. We got a dehumidifier and I put that underneath the clothes and it helps a little but we're still waiting 2-3 days for dry clothes ha
@@northofidaho Can I email you or DM you through IG? I have some questions about citizenship questions. I know about the digital nomad visa but I'd like something more permanent since I'll be purchasing a home here. Thank you for the helpful content!
Tucker ehar areas would you recommend to live in? I'm also married to a Brazilian and moving in September. Wife wants a jurere Internacional but we'll get an Airbnb for a while and see after that. Any recommendations?
@@zascar When we first visited we stayed in Lagoa and loved it. Campeche was also a top spot for us but all the rentals went too quick and after two months in Ingleses we really like it. We are still getting to know the island but Jurere is very nice
That's kinda of an obvious topic tbh. Floripa is much safer than Rio. Although Rio is not the "war zone" people think it is, Floripa is much more chill.
yeah, better get used to living with mold in floripa, and in my case, living right in fronnt of the ocean, its an ever pain in the ass problem, and when I get back from Rio after 3 months away on vacation away from winter, the walls on my flat are black
Hi, Do you intend to buy a house in Florianopolis? As for the mold and humidity, take extra care of your electronics, even more as you live near the ocean, salty air just eats electronics. Keep it as dry as possible. And I think you are about to be a little annoyed with the tourists, the north of the island get the most of them from star os december until the end of february, it becames almost impossible to came to the city DT or even get out of your neighbourhood.
We have never cleaned as much as we have in these last 5 months. A large part is also due to the fact that neither of our bathrooms have windows, which we had in Rio. We definitely want to buy here in Santa Catarina on the coast but I have found homes about 100 km south in Imbituba for roughly half the price of what we would pay here. So as much as we would love to stay here in Floripa I think we may move off the island because of that.
Nice video. Why didn't you guys consider places in like Zonal Sul or Barra? Wouldn't need a car to do a lot of things and more infrastructure for healthcare and such. Enjoy Florianopolis, I've never visited but would like too someday.
Awesome it’s a great place and very convenient. Saquarema is cool though because you have mix of beach and rural close to each other. I think rio and floripa are the two best places to live in Brazil for beach/surfers. Peace
a footnote: in floripa girls are the prettiest you ever gonna see, except that dont expect them to act 'brazilian', because of the german/ukranian/polish/italian heritage, the can be very arrogant and distant
I'm a carioca who lived in the US for over 25 years and who now lives in Floripa (ingleses beach) for almost 5 years and the dif is simple;: Rio is more fun, has better weather, people are warmer in general and has more services provide you live in a good area; floripa is way cheaper, safer but its a boring place that does not deserve to be the capital of Santa Catarina, because it has a weak infraestructure and the roads in the summer months are a real nighmare. plus if you live where I live, better get used to ordinary food 'cause ain't no better anywhere close by
I guess it all depends on the person. I think the people here are way friendlier than in Rio. For me and my wife it has everything we could possibly want or need. We also lived in a smaller city north of Rio, not the city.
I recommend you rush back to Rio or US. You're wasting your time in Floripa and ruining your life and the pepple around with all that acid nonsense complaints. Shame on you!!!
Casal simpático! Espero que cada vez mais vocês possam ir se integrando à cultura do nosso país. E ainda poderão ter um filhos bilíngues.

Anybody have any opinions about Curitiba? Might be another livable city to call home.
Just shared your video on Twitter. I think your videos are very informative and useful.

Hi I live in Canada, coming in January to check out the region.
What is a tyipcal 2 bdrm apartment cost?
Depends on the area but I live in a 2 bed/ 2 bath right now and I pay 2600/month Reals, which is roughly $500 USD

Random question: how are you adapting to the metric system? Any major issues so far?
No but I will say that I prefer Farneheit to Celsius ha. Everything else comes pretty easy km/h grams instead of ounces.
Are the prices in restaurants in saquerema & floripa comparable between the two?

Hey @Donnie-Lee-Gringo is this group still open? I'll spend 6 months in Floripa and looking for English speaking socials

Have y’all seen Sloths or Toucans? You said y’all live near the jungle
I have seen some toucans but no sloths. We used to have a family of monkeys visit us everyday in Saquarema
You might have capivaras near you!
