The wide range of British accents would've been highly unlikely in one compapny at this stage in the war as regiments were raised on a regional basis and Pals Battalions were still common in 1916, but it's understandable that the film makers wanted to show a cross-section of British society both vertically, (with Julian Rhind-Tutt type-cast as the archetypical officer class), and horizontally, with every country and many of the counties being represented by the various regional accents.
This is literally a Peaky Blinders prequel, not only cause it's the same actor but because his character in Peaky Blinders was in the trenches too before becoming a gangster
Life as a man used to be a constant proving challenge against death...We as women should remember how hard it used to be for both sides of human creation and stay humble! A soldier used to die for nothing in the simple name of honor and loyalty towards his so called "country" though we finally understood that Earth has got no frontiers and limits and that we are on the eve of the real human creating evolution...It is now!
in the trench warfare almost everyone smoked. for many reasons. 2 main ones being... 1: the stench of men not being able to clean themselves for months or even years was unbearable, also the smell of the dead, not being able to bury them. 2: there were no places for a bathroom and most likely there were no toilet paper so all you could smell was shit and piss. cigarettes would have covered that smell for the most part, help them to reduce stress, pain.
Must of been awkward being an Irish man there with all the British during that time
@@makkapakka2098 Yeah but Ireland staged an uprising during WW1 so it might have been awkward

Why that time the all soldiers always did smoking?😇🤣🤣🤣
smocking cigs in a combat zone to reduce stress is very common. We did the same during combat operations in OEF
When shit goes whizzin by your head ...you will light up gauranteed 🙄
