I think the setting of the small, rundown British Wrestling Federation worked so well for just how wonky all these characters were! I loved the weird and awkward promos that you could almost perfectly picture taking place in the local 'Spoons
I love that Quinns berates everyone for not getting the Batterin'Berg's name right and then proceeds to called Pip's character "WarrMachine" at least 3 times.
Looks amazing. My DnD group were joking about how silly and fun a wrestling RPG would be and I found this one. Great to see it’s so fun! Will have to try it out sometime.
I'm honestly amazed at how good this game is at making it sound like a real wrestling match. Especially considering you guys aren't familiar with it at all.
To me it appears, like they forgot that in World Wide Wrestling (just like in actual wrestling) you're working together, rather than opposing each other. Quintin forgetting to say who was booked to win a match didn't help this, but rather increased the competition. If you work together to bring the show, maybe even describing how your wrestler is helping the other wrestler "beating you up" (because the other wrestler was booked to win) is a really unique experience from a RPG perspective, making clear, that you're not playing a fighting game, but a game about delivering a show, and entertaining an audience (just like actual wrestling).
I just bought the rules and the book says that creative is supposed to say who is booked to win toward the end of the match. Also, you can actually go against creative's wishes in the rules as well and try to win even if you're booked to lose. Which, while yeah, it maybe isn't totally accurate to most wrestling I think adds some fun to it, sort of encouraging a Montreal Screwjob sort of thing. It establishes Kayfabe but also encourages people to break the kayfabe that the DM has created.
i just want to say this game is amazing! i watched this video soon after it came out and it left such an impression on me that a year later i decided to finally buy it and its freaking awesome
Kind of ironic that NXT UK would start filming just a few months after this was posted. I love how much fun and enthusiasm the group brought to this (long time SUSD fan, so really expected nothing less). A bit disappointed that the kayfabe (i.e. the blurry line between reality and the on-camera/in-arena content) aspect was shelved, presumably for time, as I think it's one of the more interesting features of the game. The best non-wrestling explanation I've come up with is that you're roleplaying BOTH Batman AND Bruce Wayne, Spider-Man AND Peter Parker, Lex Luthor AND... well... Lex Luthor (as some wrestlers have been known to more or less believe their own hype and/or live their gimmick on screen and off).
Having frequented the wetherspoons of Reading, I assume this is occurring in the small beer garden of the "Back of Beyond" with the very real potential of falling into the canal...
That was fun. Pip does take it to the extreme. Daisy isn't a real cow is she? I mean within the fiction of the game. I love the idea that audience is in on that. No! Carboy! I was looking forward to a London vs. non-London tag-team match. But this is fine too. Viewers will have to do that themselves as a fan film. :)
Oh come on, have some faith in your foreign listeners. I'm from the great ignorant country of the USA and I know that Batterin' Berg is a play on Battenberg, the German noble family. Oh. And a type of cake apparently, didn't know that second one. Huh.
If you think professional wrestling is above making a baker themed character, might I introduce you do the dentist wrestler Isaac Yankem (not making that up lol)
Did you pick this up before or after The Metagame ... as I saw the cutural crossover between D&D and professional wrestling there and this is too perfect. And were they all filmed the same day as the D&D episode, or do you have to coordinate your wardrobes for each Let's Play so you always have the same shirts?
The D&D geek in me is fascinated with this. The wrestling fan in me is appalled by the lack of knowledge of body mechanics. A top rope missile drop kick followed by a hurricanrana???
Several podcasts ago y'all teased an RPG podcast and I was over the moon! Any updates on that project? If it's fallen by the wayside then I'm sad but I'll still love y'all anyway
Guys, can you PLEASE play (a scenario or perhaps multiple of) the new version of "Masks of Nyarlathotep" campaign ? Your rpg game sessions are amazingly funny and I'm really curious about the new version of this. Regardless GL & HF with your channel, you lot are awesome.
Is there a mechanic for when annoying self proclaimed smark podcasters like Jim Cornette shits on your promotion because he hates fun, silly story telling and thinks wrestling should only ever be realistic and gritty?

"I've fundamentally misunderstood this profession! Who ordered the Korma?"
And I'm dead.
The only thing better than watching people pretend to do a wrestle fight is watching people pretend to pretend to do a wrestle fight.
I remember the time before I watched this video, when I knew nothing about cakes or wrestling.
We were so young and innocent then
Pip should be in Season 2 of GLOW
Pip was born for this.
Pip is Warrbeast! 😈😁
Pip is killing it! 😎😁
I HAVE FUNDAMENTALLY MISUNDERSTOOD THIS PROFESSION DID ANYONE ORDER THE KORMA
perfection
I've enjoyed many a Shut Up & Sit Down video, but this one really takes the cake!
I love that Quinns berates everyone for not getting the Batterin'Berg's name right and then proceeds to called Pip's character "WarrMachine" at least 3 times.
that mcarthur park rendition was so good
THANK YOU
Only half-way through and my face already hurts from constantly smiling/laughing 😂😂
Looks amazing. My DnD group were joking about how silly and fun a wrestling RPG would be and I found this one. Great to see it’s so fun! Will have to try it out sometime.
"You're just boy now, and there is no market for that" -the origin story for Nicholas.
I love how we have a double turn in this match. Batterinburg went face and Muddler went heel to win it.
This was the funniest thing I've ever listened to. Thanks, SU&SD!
Pip might actually be the best.
'CIDER LAW-ABIDER!'
I love that Pip stole Seth Rollins catchphrase and has no idea "BURN IT DOWN"
Thought the same thing
The muddler stole Jason Jordans straps down manoeuvre as well.
I think Pip knows her wrestling.
Xena, Quiche Princess
I'm dead. I can't handle this.
i see pip is trying to be some hybrid of the entire shield
This is absolute genius! Pip's commentary has had me almost crying with laughter. Please do another one!
Just sayin....Matts soft confectionary based wrestler is the greatest thing ever
Slightly drizzly Summer Slam. Yep, sounds British to me. 🇬🇧😂

Good point, I hadn't thought about that but that actually makes this a lot more interesting to me.

I loved this session! Great job SUSD. 😎🇬🇧😁
I've only just come across this and my god it was amazing I kind of want a part 2 were car boy comes back as just boy but goes on to win the belt
This was so good. Definitely sold me on this RPG
As a wrestling fan and rpg nerd this was amazing. Hahaha
i just want to say this game is amazing! i watched this video soon after it came out and it left such an impression on me that a year later i decided to finally buy it and its freaking awesome
You had me at 'The Batterin' Berg'

Adding an apron?! That's a +10% damage modifier! Thanks Sidewalk Slam.
I can just imagine the Bristol Muddler battering someone around and them appearing on casualty.
I was wondering when this was coming. So happy. More please!
What!? suddenly Mark Hulmes appears, soo cool! didnt expect that.
In the words of a famous wrestler. WOOOO!!!!
My favourite wrestler is The Rock, whose famous catchphrase is Don't Be Glib
Having frequented the wetherspoons of Reading, I assume this is occurring in the small beer garden of the "Back of Beyond" with the very real potential of falling into the canal...
I need to study up on British cakes. 😳😂
OMG, I have a few wrestling/gaming geek fans that would gasm over this! I’ll share this with them, assuming they don’t already own it!😭😭
I found about this system about a month ago when I signed up for a campaign. It's a cool system, I'm happy to see you guys giving it a try!
I am so jealous of your table. Great gameplay video guys!
That was fun.
Pip does take it to the extreme.

No! Carboy!

Yaaaaay its Pip!!! :D
This needs to be a series...
Amazing would love a Sequel
Matt is the perfect heel. I love it. Hahaha
Oh come on, have some faith in your foreign listeners. I'm from the great ignorant country of the USA and I know that Batterin' Berg is a play on Battenberg, the German noble family. Oh. And a type of cake apparently, didn't know that second one. Huh.
I would love another episode of this.
Jut found out your name is Matthew! So is mine! I love your channel now!
"Burn it down" is the start of set rollins entrance theme... I wonder if they know that or if it's just some glorious coincidence.
Man, is Matt a wrestler in real life? Those are some sweet promos cut at the start.
+1 for Pip. She's great in these group rpg's.
Pip's commentary was amazing!
Learned about Battenberg from Thursday Next but never really looked up pictures :D
After much research, Batterin’ Berg's entrance song is Arthur Clark (Macarthur Park) by The Barron Knights.
Pip too busy snort-laughing to narrate during the Boston Crab made my morning!
If you think professional wrestling is above making a baker themed character, might I introduce you do the dentist wrestler Isaac Yankem (not making that up lol)
COMING IN HOT THE REGULAR FEATURES REFERENCE HECK YEAH BATTERIN'BERG
"You put your back out puling a cow from the ceiling..." Not a line you think you're ever going to hear in any context whatsoever, innit?
That was awesome... WANT MOOORE!
During Warmachines running roughshod on the car you probbably shouldve made her roll for Feat of Strength, Cheap Heat, or Work the audiance.
The monster is only 6'5"?
Zachary Manning first thing I thought too
Remember, they're from the U.K. The lack of regular sun stunts their growth.
Giant Haystacks was from the UK and he was billed as 6'11".
Mark Sosbe Like Super Meat Boy!
Meat Square is now officially your wrestler
The new edition is on Kickstarter right now and this video just made them $15.
pip is selling me on this game omg
Not CarJack?

I can't believe you didn't call the NPC 'Car Jack'.
The D&D geek in me is fascinated with this.
The wrestling fan in me is appalled by the lack of knowledge of body mechanics. A top rope missile drop kick followed by a hurricanrana???
I'm three minutes in and all I can see is Matt's mug _right_ on the edge of the table and _right_ by his elbow and it's making me twitch.
I hate warrbeast... **and I love her**
Several podcasts ago y'all teased an RPG podcast and I was over the moon! Any updates on that project? If it's fallen by the wayside then I'm sad but I'll still love y'all anyway
Cotton Eye Joe?! 😂
Time for a European Cake tour!!!!!!
I just want more of Matt singing please.
My god... It's my favorite internet people playing my favorite weird RPG... Don't squeal at work. DO NOT SQUEAL AT WORK!!!
can this game be played by one person only
watched 10 seconds, pressed like, job done :)
This is way better than real wrestling
See this looks fun, but I definitely wouldn't be this witty on the fly.
fantastic
I need this game asap
I LOVE THIS
Is Matt wearing a Splatoon shirt?
I've got to play this game
Sorry, it sounds like Matt's mike is either turned down or off.
I'm from Australia and I get none of the cake references... :P
Australia: Land of No Cake
Nooooo...
More Pip. In really, all content.
Hell yes!
Ooh, my pants got a bit drizzly when I seen Hulmes
Continue the DND story for crying out loud!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAY MORE MORE
Pip is so funny! ^_^
