You guys gushing about this game on your podcast is what sparked my excitement to try it. Soon after, I had a copy of my own and was headed to my friend's house for a midday session. What a unique and profound experience that was! She and I still talk about our character's doomed relationship. Poor self-sacrificing Helen doing everything she could to keep the cold, driven Linda happy is always good for a shared laugh followed by a plaintive sigh of reflection.
Just a word of caution: Sometimes this game feels TOO real. I played it with my wife and the game generated an argument we'd just had and it pretty hard to laugh off at the time.
I bought this game immediately after hearing SU&SD gush about it at PAX Unplugged, despite dismissing it when I came across its booth. What followed was the most fun I ever had with my best friend where every random or measured choice felt like we were writing a romance novel - sometimes one with a lot of heart and earnest passion, sometimes a comedy, and sometimes one marred by complex and flawed characters, selfishly hurting each other right until the end. I don't think I will ever forget those first games, even if I never touch it again. It was just.. magic.
The thing you guys have over other board game review channels - even really good ones - is that you really get into your *emotional* responses to the games you play. This is great, because board games are a social AND a tactile activity, so therefore feelings and emotions are important. :) Board gamers tend to be really analytical people, and I know you two are *also* that, but making your reviews in this way ensures that you don't overlook some of the very real joys of board gaming that keep gamers coming back to the hobby for more. ❤️ (You're also really damn funny, so there's that too. 👍🏻)
I went to buy Pandemic Legacy Season 2 and saw Fog of Love while I was in the store. I remembered you guys liked it in the podcast so on a whim I bought both. After playing both games once, my wife and I were far more excited to play another Fog of Love scenario than Pandemic. Great, innovative game.
Found this in Goodwill today, after 2 years of putting off picking it up. And I have to say immediately, the side loading box is MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BOX OUT OF EVERY GAME I OWN
got this for my 9th anniversary present to the wife. it sparked a wave of board game fanaticism in her. did it mend some of the holes in our relationship? dunno, but it sure was fun! good review.
I splurged and bought this straight from the publisher only based on your highly enthusiastic review. And I told them that in the space for "note to seller" to give you a nice little shout out.
2:46 As I saw him for the first time, it was like the whole world disappeared into the background, overshadowed by his presence, and all I could see and sense was him, he took up all of my attention, all of my sight. His being blotted out the sun and the skies, his enormity; crushing all in his path into dust. His voice shattered mountains and with each step towards me the ground shook as if pummeled by meteors and shaken by the pull of foreign astral bodies. He was the biggest man I had ever seen.
This game looks wonderful but I also fear that the group I play tabletop games with would either question me or be far too afraid of intimacy to play along
Yeah, that reminds me of when the unofficial D20 book of erotic fantasy was published. My GM at the time bought it out of sheer morbid curiosity and a desire for laughs, but I looked around at our players and couldn't imagine anyone being bold enough and secure enough to role-play a serious romantic relationship, let alone one explicit enough to use that book. As a two-player board game, Fog of Love probably has an advantage, because romantic gamer couples can and do play two-player games on their own. I know actual romantic involvement isn't a requirement, but it's clear to see that this is a good icebreaker and a nice game for an actual date night.
How do you guys not have over 100 thousand subs yet this is one of my favourite TH-cam channels I watch and I only play a half dozen board games a year
I picked this up for my wife and I (my wife is an avid gamer like me), and we loved it. I honestly think it will be even more fun for people to play who aren't in an existing relationship though. Can't wait to play with random friends!
I saw this game and was intrigued. Now that I have a SU&SD recommendation, and a strong one at that, I've gone ahead and ordered! I was surprised to find out this game is a Walmart exclusive, at least here in the US. Wasn't expecting a big box retail company to be smart enough to nail down such a unique title.
Great job as always giving us a better understanding of a great game. I really want to get it but I'm conflicted on if my wife would actually want to play a game about a relationship that doesn't even exist. Hmmmm... I'd love to have random friends play it though when they come over for board-game night.
I got a copy of this to review at GenCon and my god do my wife and I love this game. You guys are amazing and hit everything right on the head as why this game is incredible. I only hope to be as good as you guys one day
It's great to see the guys genuinely excited about a game, and you can tell they like it from their review. I probably would have walked right past this game in the store, but after this review, I need to go out and buy it. Thanks, guys. Also, please more shirtless Matt. Thanks.
"Quinns, we really need to spice up this next episode. Something to really wow the fans." "I got it. I'll shove my hand up your shirt and squirt whipped cream out the top" "I... I mean alright, I guess"
6:36 scene, that was funny. The follow-up scene at 6:46...*BAHAHAHAHAHAHA* Also it was great meeting you guys at GDC! (I was the tall guy who asked if the pastry was pear-flavored.) :P
This is great video of this game and was so entertaining. Helped me decide to buy this game because it was as interesting as I was hoping but other videos weren’t able to express to me. Thanks!
Whipped cream in FoL or sandworm in Dune? What's your favorite SU&SD don't-watch-while-sipping-tea-moment? I can't decide right now. I probably never will.
Umm ... can I PLEASE request more of Matt with an open button up shirt wiping whipped cream off of himself on this channel please? I'm a simple dude, is that REALLY too much to ask? K thx!
My favorite twosome. .....Of SU&SD, I mean, of course. I had zero interest in this game, even tho I'd heard a lot about it, till your podcast. I can't say I'll ever have a group to play this with, but it sounds very interesting.
Finally!!!! This is one of those games that since the podcast I've felt nothing but a desire to see Barry looking for love again or what happened to Sharon. This has live stream written all over it. My first game had overachieving politician with a narcotic problem Shannon falling in love with a buffalo Bill like security guard who was soft spoken and may of had her lie to the police?
I have one request and if it can't be granted, I'll understand. If a game earns your coveted SU&SD Recommends award, I'd like to see the SU&SD Recommends 🍐 logo on the review video's thumbnail. As it stands, some do and some don't and I can't be the only person on the interwebs who likes consistency.
When you first said "like finding a ballroom in your house" I thought of those ball pits that children play in then was sad to realize you meant a large fancy room for dancing.
This is a game I really want to get, but feel the theme would prevent me from ever getting to the table. I don't see my game group/friends having any interest in playing this. A shame, since I really love the idea of this game.
My cousin was curious about this game because of this review, so he tried to get us to play it at a local boardgame cafe. Unfortunately their copy, the cards were out of order, and he couldn't figure out heads or tails about the manual. Ultimately one of the servers basically told us the game is terrible, so he gave up. Then again, I know that guy is very much not into co-op games, so I dunno until I actually try it myself. Anyway, now that I actually watched this review, I have a better idea of what makes it appealing at least for me to give it a 2nd chance given the opportunity.
Great review for such an interesting game, and I appreciate how you guys don't acknowledge any kind of awkwardness because it's two dudes playing it. Seems like a cool game to play, but not necessarily own. I say that as a mostly-solo gamer, though.
That would be an interesting theme for a speed dating set-up at a bar or restaurant. Have a sorting hat with everyone's names in it, then match people up (could even be by house or something). You'd at least know that you and your partner both would be Harry Potter fans.
i cant understand all the positive reviews of this game... i tried it and because you can read the mechanics right there when you make the choices it feels like a game where you have to just pick the little color pieces that match your win condition goal and that is pretty much it. Then there is all the fluff thrown on top. .. It seems like it could have been fixed so easily with not showing what color pieces you get from what action until you take it, that way you make choices based on what you think your person would choose instead of just picking the one that fits with what color pieces you need.
8:14 Quinns: I slept with your best friend.
Matt: But you're my best friend.
Quinns: I know. It was weird.
David Witheridge I thought Quinn slept with Steve Hogarty
This was awesome!!!!!!!!

There's nothing more enjoyable than seeing the two of you effuse over a game that gives you so much joy. Represents everything I love about the hobby.
As you said this game is great for spectators, so how about making a SUSD Play video some time in the future? I'd love to see one
the issue with that I imagine is it would hurt it's limited shelf life as explained.
The thing you guys have over other board game review channels - even really good ones - is that you really get into your *emotional* responses to the games you play. This is great, because board games are a social AND a tactile activity, so therefore feelings and emotions are important. :)

I knew nothing of this game two hours ago. And now I am so sold just from your excellent video. Thanks so much for the video!
😂 😂 when you can see the top of Quinns' head during the whipped cream
Ok, now I'm not sure what to expect from this video!
I LAUGHED SO HARD !!!!! 😂 😂
At work and burst out laughing...thankfully no one was around
The second "It's getting hot in here" had me in stitches!!
I went to buy Pandemic Legacy Season 2 and saw Fog of Love while I was in the store. I remembered you guys liked it in the podcast so on a whim I bought both. My god you guys are great
agree.. they make me want to buy anything...
Found this in Goodwill today, after 2 years of putting off picking it up. And I have to say immediately, the side loading box is MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE BOX OUT OF EVERY GAME I OWN

I hear that in Utah the game is for 3-8 players.
Yeah but you can only have one male character and the rest have to female. Also the events are super weird.
It's also tagged as a family game over there.
Ian Kelley
In Alabama this is a family game
You guys could sell me a used sandwich.
OMG! Stop everything! The Fog of Love review is here! 😍😍
I splurged and bought this straight from the publisher only based on your highly enthusiastic review. And I told them that in the space for "note to seller" to give you a nice little shout out.
I want to meet the person who was walking by on the street below at the end, looking up at that window, wondering what was going on.
I don't. -Matt

Cooperative vs Coercive. I like the distinction in terms of gaming.
... what do you say, if we start this, with a bang? ...
.. It's a family show!
10 seconds in, already a classic...
"I'm an internet celebrity who's jealous, insecure and disorganized!"
... So you're an internet celebrity-
You forgot this: .
Great job as always giving us a better understanding of a great game. it's actually pretty incredible how good you two are at reviewing. forst video i see from you guys, though. more will follow. kudos from germany!!
I got a copy of this to review at GenCon and my god do my wife and I love this game. You guys are amazing and hit everything right on the head as why this game is incredible. I only hope to be as good as you guys one day
Freaking hilarious! The whipped cream killed me. I had to stop the video I was laughing so hard!
You guys are still amazing. I'm buying this game right away. Also, that whipped cream moment had me in tears :)
Thanks so much for this review. It really turned my wife and I on to this game, and we are having so much fun.
I like your step up in production value, great look, great angles still familiar.. Well done ✌️
This the best review you have ever done! Thank you for this! :)
Great work! You guys really elevate the review process and you sold us on getting a copy of this! Thanks for your efforts.
It's great to see the guys genuinely excited about a game, and you can tell they like it from their review. I probably would have walked right past this game in the store, but after this review, I need to go out and buy it. Thanks, guys.

"Quinns, we really need to spice up this next episode. Something to really wow the fans."
"I got it. I'll shove my hand up your shirt and squirt whipped cream out the top"
"I... I mean alright, I guess"
Where can i get that shirt @12:56 ?
Seriously - think of all the great SU&SD quotes that could become t-shirts! Merch when?
this is one of the best reviews I've ever seen.
You guys never cease to amaze me...amazing review!!!!
6:36 scene, that was funny.
The follow-up scene at 6:46...*BAHAHAHAHAHAHA*
Also it was great meeting you guys at GDC! (I was the tall guy who asked if the pastry was pear-flavored.) :P
El mejor canal de juegos de mesa en youtube, you guys are the best, keep it going, saludos desde chile.
Awesome review.Thank you SU&SD
This review is absolutely incredible and should also be seen outside the boardgame community.
"HELLO BABY!" -Matt 2018
Collarless button up shirt looking mad futuristic!
Chit Talk or 19th century pajamas.
6:35 Oh gross. I did not see that coming! XD bahaha
This is great video of this game and was so entertaining. Helped me decide to buy this game because it was as interesting as I was hoping but other videos weren’t able to express to me. Thanks!

Have to admit I might have not given this game a chance without having seen this review. Thank you!
Haha really enjoyed your demo of the game Hannah Witton mentioned this in a recent video and I had to know more.
12 seconds in and i know this is going to be a great time.
My favorite twosome. .....Of SU&SD, I mean, of course.

if it's so fun watching this, do a let's play on this. please!!
Weird,
I just saw this for the first time yesterday night.
Cool coincidence and video!
Man, you guys are the best hahahahah I laugh too much watching your reviews.
The "We won a trip to Italy!" comment didn't age well, did it.
And this comment won't age well either
I was thinking "must feel pretty lame when playing this game in Italy and you get that event" :D
Can't wait to play this with my wife. Thanks for letting us know all about the cool in life.
No doubt, the best review I have ever seen, about anything. Game looks pretty hot too.
6:40 I wasnt ready for this 10/10
This game is fantastic, I have been waiting for your review every since gushing on the live podcast. Definitely worth the wait.
Love this channel
Discarding “Destiny”... that’s deep.
It is super fun to play. And I am looking forward to the expansions
Will there or are there expansions that make the game for more than 2 players?
Matt has a wife? See, this whole time was under the impression that he and Quinns were, ummmm, a thing.
They're good friends
Aren't they absolutely precious together?
Wait I thought they were married too lol
@@e.a.b.k7048 They both have wives
That cream effect was so obviously CGI.

would you recommend it for every 2 players?
0:19 Setting the mood...
Oh, this is the perfect house warming gift for a young couple!
Confirmed: these guys all tangoing together
I lost it at the whipped cream!
This game is just as amazing as your review itself!
What would it take to get a let's play of this game with Log? Or other SUSD friends. But mainly Log.
Must see this game played by these two. That would a riot.
1:06 Is there coffee in the keep calm and drink tea?
Best part was seeing the top of Quinn's forehead during the schooshie cream explosion.
Just skip to 6:36. It's what you all came for.
Nice review. Dont forget to say how long a game takes to play!
We need a Fog of Love on Tabletop Simulator livestream! :D
I’m playing the ‘Married with children and mortgage’ expansion.
Is there a one night stand version?
Sure. Just stop 5 minutes in and wander off.
7:07 I wonder how long the excuse to take off the shirt was planned for
I have that problem with my cream as well... Always a little too early....
Great review for such an interesting game, and I appreciate how you guys don't acknowledge any kind of awkwardness because it's two dudes playing it. Seems like a cool game to play, but not necessarily own. I say that as a mostly-solo gamer, though.
I wouldn't recommend playing this with you SO. It's much better as a funny game roleplaying as a fake gay couple between friends.
legit funny at 6.36 guys good work
If your partner wants you to be a jedi, that's a keeper
I thought keepers were part of the Harry Potty universe?
Ehhh wizards should probably invent sorting hats for dating
That would be an interesting theme for a speed dating set-up at a bar or restaurant. Have a sorting hat with everyone's names in it, then match people up (could even be by house or something). You'd at least know that you and your partner both would be Harry Potter fans.
Diminishing returns you say?
Like coming from a lifetime relationship where you have already experienced it all?
I have started a rival board game review channel called Sit Up & Shut Down. It's a bit more formal but also completely inactive.
It's definitely at least in part the weed in my system, but god damn that cake at 5:01 looks tasty.
i cant understand all the positive reviews of this game... i tried it and because you can read the mechanics right there when you make the choices it feels like a game where you have to just pick the little color pieces that match your win condition goal and that is pretty much it. This seems like a game that would be really hard to find the right people to play with
