It's talking about American soldiers being deployed and developing PTSD from what they've been instructed to do. "The war is over" refers to President Bush declaring the war over, when really it continued for years. "I need a gun" refers to the fear-mongering in America during the war that they were in danger and that the war was to protect them. "All I want to do is dance" is the desire to live outside of that fear. The children are referring to kids that grew up watching the war unfold, being fed propaganda and growing up afraid.

Yeah that's why zoomers think their stuff is from 2010, also because of the TH-cam upload date, when IIRC it's from 2000-2005/06
I think so but surprisingly that's not the common consensus, a lot of older fans think Gorillaz is not worth listening to anymore after Demon Days.
To me it seems like they listened to one song they didn't like after Demon Days (which was probably Stylo or something) and just disregarded the band after that.
That's usually older fans though, people who just can't move past the past, people who are more open minded will enjoy a lot of the newer stuff too.
