Hope you've noticed too. I've been a huge fan since day 1; saw them "live"; bought cd, d/l etc and the lyrics which now say "Lead Nike Shoes" were never in the original lyrics. I have no idea if I understand the figurative speech of the song. My guess is that it’s implying to let go of the past, and follow the path that seems like the right path, but don’t take matters too quickly. Life is meant to be a journey. That also many are also caught up in the toxicity of trying to fit in that it disorients them, but life is long enough that they still have time to sort things out and pull away from such influences, as they have no time to lose but have all the time in the world. They have time to walk in the right shoes, go down the right road and “get the cool shoe shine.” I have no idea, but that’s the closest I can think of. People might read this and say “Ummm…..yeeeaah…..”

The timelessness of music like this is pretty amazing, especially with stuff like this where it can still resonate as well with people today as it did when it was released. I have no idea if I understand the figurative speech of the song. My guess is that it’s implying to let go of the past, and follow the path that seems like the right path, but don’t take matters too quickly. Life is meant to be a journey. That also many are also caught up in the toxicity of trying to fit in that it disorients them, but life is long enough that they still have time to sort things out and pull away from such influences, as they have no time to lose but have all the time in the world. They have time to walk in the right shoes, go down the right road and “get the cool shoe shine.”

The timelessness of music like this is pretty amazing, especially with stuff like this where it can still resonate as well with people today as it did when it was released. Despite, y’know, being older than a good amount of today’s people. That’s a lot more than I could say for tons of other songs, movies, video games, etc. There’s Tetris, and then there’s Need For Speed: Underground.
