    Such an amazing representation of how much thought and anxiety goes into leaving the house because the world isn't made for us. I'm so proud you did this and I'm so glad you have friends who help but yeah, the world needs to do better.
    I too am ambulatory and get that guilt of when I can get up if necessary but it's so hard as knowing some people really can't and we shouldn't have to put ourselves through that pain. Thank you for a great video. Xx

    “Thank you so much for watching. Bye. I’m gonna have a nap now!”
    Oh so true!! 😂
    Glad you had a successful trip and managed to document it for others.

    I know you posted this a while ago now but congratulations for your first train in a while and your first wheelchair journey. You’re totally right, it seems so simple for them just to have ramps in the trains in general that way they would be available and wouldn’t require booking assistance advance. I am in America and we have to ask for the Rams find someone as well I don’t know why they can’t just have a nearby the fall. Doesn’t seem like it would be that complicated

    Someone famous (can't remember who!) once said. 'We suffer more in anticipation than in reality' ....ain't that the truth?! But I know exactly how you feel in that regard...I have anxiety issues as well and I've, many times, just bailed out of doing things because just the thought of doing it actually makes me feel physically sick. You have courage, and that's inspiring!

    Thank you for this video 💖 it really helps me feel less alone when I watch videos like this. I had a day out today while feeling unwell and using a mobility aid, and I agree that the anxiety is often worse than the actual thing. But the trip wasn't a total breeze either. High five for us both, for going out despite the anxiety 🙌🏼✨️

    My mum and I have been watching your videos to prepare for buying my first wheelchair !! I think I might get the same model as you.
    Getting a train for this first time must have been scary (I’m also a very anxious person) but I hope you’re so proud of yourself. I’m going to try and film wheelchair related vlogs too - it really does break the stigma and encourages people 💙
    Edit: ALSO your eyeliner !?? I could never omg. 👑
    Second Edit: if you want to buy some Etsy art…I have some Spoonie prints on my shop 👀

    I just found your channel because I was looking for a wheelchair and the type of chair I want is the one you have but it’s not available in the USA. I just emailed the company to see if they will ship it to me from the UK. I used to live in Brighton a while back. I went to the University of Sussex and back then I used to use an electric scooter to get around, and this very thing would happen to me all the time attempting to go to London on the train. It makes absolutely no sense that this is still an issue in this day and age. I’ve only watched a couple of your videos but you definitely have a new supporter. I’m an attorney in the United States and I just wanna encourage you to keep sharing your story. It’s encouraging. I had to use a wheelchair but I have CP.

    Yesss Bristol!! Glad you enjoyed your trip and had some success with the trains. Really thankful for your videos - having a scary time with my health this past year and am possibly going to be given an ME/CFS diagnosis, so it's been so comforting and reassuring to see someone with my symptoms enjoying their life.

    If no one turns up, you hit the emergancy button that keeps the door open, or you stick your arm or leg out if u can, which stops the doors closing. You might piss a few people off, but honestly, the services need to be much better.

    I haven't my wheelchair yet, but I have a lot of anxiety associated with it. Bus driving, open doors etc. But I hope I will get more of my life back in the wheelchair. I will be an ambulant wheelchair user, too.
    Would you be able to go to ikea without it? I find it really difficult to feel and decide in which situations I should use a wheelchair (and in which it makes things more complicated and stressful for me). I think I could go to ikea, but I would crash the days after. Still struggles with pacing 🙄.

    • @ElinorBrown

      Ikeas are really big and there’s a lot of walking (though they do have lots of chairs) so I don’t think I could do it without the wheelchair. for me it’s a case of, if the wheel chair will make it easier or be a hassle to take! hope that helps!

      @@ElinorBrown Yes, you're right, Ikeas have a lot of chairs and sofas 😂... Better than other shops! I hope I will find out (the hard way, maybe) in which situations a wheelchair will be supportive for my needs.
      Thank you a lot, sharing your thoughts and experiences 💐

    Anti- depressant against anxieties makes the weelchair obsolete and everything less complicated. Try it! What can you lose?

    • @ElinorBrown
      @ElinorBrown  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      ummm… I'm already on anti-depressants and they definitely dont make my wheelchair obsolete……. not sure what you mean, but I dont think you understand ME/CFS.

    • @frkk6933
      @frkk6933 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ElinorBrown OK. Maybe more? Doesn't that work at all, Symptom-technically? I had me/cfs by myself. Full Programm. With sunglasses in bed and almost bought a weelchair by myself. Nervpain, weekness. A list of Symptoms. Hey i thought for bit I had ALS. I made a lot of unpleasant tests. Today i drive motorbike. It's a phase. It goes away in time. Believe me, please! Don't worry too much about it.

      My daughter has had ME/CFS for 20 years. It’s not a phase. Anti depressants do not miraculously cure this.
