She’s outside drinking in a Manhattan bar. She meets a random guy, had sex with him, and voila, she conceived Jimmy. Back in their house, Gloria sees her husband already sleeping. We see a note saying that her husband came to the hospital to see his sick mother. Question is what about the line “And I miss my dad and Cleopatra sitting on a phone” and why is there a stanza from ‘Sleep on the Floor’? The dog is possible a symbol of Junior’s Mother, Bonnie. When Junior was lying in bed, he saw vision of her mother. Later in “My Cell” MV, Jimmy also saw that same dog. Bonnie (or Gloria) might be the one Junior is referring to as the _"leader of landslide"_. *Track 6. “Left For Denver”* Bonnie left for Denver. So Junior is sad and at the same time curious why her mother left. He hates her mother leaving him with his father. He ended up burning the piano/keyboard that Gloria was playing before. Her mother, Bonnie, probably played that piano a lot too. _“What did you know that I didn’t?”_ While searching for answers, he found a gun in his father’s things. This might also be a reference to the Lumineers' _'Gun Song'_. Check it out. *CHAPTER III: JIMMY* *Track 7. “My Cell”* In the start of video, Jimmy was having sex with the girl who entered his house at the latter part of ‘Leader of the Landslide’ MV. "The shark" entered the room hitting him hard. It turned out that the girl, Julie, is _"only after the wallet"_ of Jimmy, probably for unpaid debt. While the girl is about to leave, Jimmy tried to stop the girl, which reminded him of his wife. Another woman left him helpless (First, Gloria, then Bonnie, then Julie). He also saw a vision of the dog. *Track 8. “Jimmy Sparks”* The lyrics explains it all. Jimmy was a prison guard so he’s used to being a tough man. This can also be an irony and a metaphor because the ‘My Cell’ song talks about Jimmy being imprisoned by his emotions, by the past, or by his alcoholism. The lyrics explains how Jimmy actually tried to be a good father while Junior grew up. He struggled raising Junior alone. He even _"gambled in bars"_ to pay for Junior’s hospitalization. He incurred debt. Growing up, Jimmy advised Junior to _"not let hitchers in the car"_ because it’s “us or them”. We see what happened to Jimmy after his encounter in 'My Cell' MV. "It was 3am."_ Jimmy is wounded while walking alone in the road. Parallels: that road again, where Gloria had an accident. _“Now Jimmy's son is trying to make his way home, His graveyard shift had ended and it was starting to snow, He sees an old man walking barefoot alone, His old man waved his hands with tears in his eyes But Jimmy's son just sped up and remembered daddy's advice, No you don't ever give a hitcher a ride.”_ This reminded me of the lyrics in ‘Donna’ - _“You love to judge strangers' karma”_ *Track 9. "April"* Just Junior following Jimmy's advice. Lol. *Track 10. "Salt and The Sea"* The lyrics of this song equates alcohol to salt and the sea - which are both regarded as cures for anything. When you read the lyrics, it's actually the alcohol speaking to Jimmy. _"I'll be your friend in the daylight again, There we will be, like an old enemy"._ Again, alcoholism is a disease. And for someone with it, they think alcohol is the only answer to their problems. Alcohol is their only friend. However, in the music video, we see the father and son in their home. At this point, Jimmy is exhausted from a long walk, and Jimmy just came from a bank robbery. Both hopeless and helpless. Except they had each other. Here, we see a parallel again from 'Gloria": the police coming into their place. But now Junior is the one running away instead of Gloria. One thing I loved about the ending of this series is that: In contrast to the lyrics which portrays alcohol as Jimmy's friend, the video shows that in the end, Jimmy and Junior became each other's friend, last hope, saving grace, lifeline, or cure - like salt and the sea. I'd like to think that they both realized this at that point. Alcoholism creates a cycle difficult to break. It affects all the ones that love and care for you. The damage can go generations after generations. So help others, and help yourself.
Not that Ho Hey is bad at all. Honestly it’s a better song WITHOUT the Hos and Heys. I’d be standing on Canal and Bowery, she’d be standing next to me...
Someone asked me this question tonight. My mind uttered The Lumineers. Alas, I thought before I spoke, what a pretty lonely heart of mine. I plainly smiled as an answer. I felt complete reading this comment. Thank You. :)
I feel like that’s the point of it. The lyrics are so visionary you didn’t need the music video, but this showed so much more backstory about Jimmy’s life.
Yea I think it would of been too easy filming a video to match the lyrics here. Instead we just see a broken man in the video, and the song tells the backstory.
Jimmy had such a sad story, but that doesn't justifies the fact that he was an awful father to Junior. Junior deserves way better, he literally paid for things that his grandmother and mother did. I really do hope that he breaks the cycle.
i think that’s what Junior was trying to symbolize to himself in Left For Denver by burning the piano that Gloria olayer is that he didn’t want to be like them and that he was going to take initiative to turn the story around
"They strip the jewelry and the boots off Jim's feet . They kick him out of the car and say we'll give you a week" Later that night Jimmy's son "sees an old man walking barefoot alone" The moment I was standing in the shower listening to this and realised that Jimmy was in fact the old man his son drove past as he listened to his dad's advice can be described as nothing short of a spiritual experience
@@12martin12rojas ''The climactic “Jimmy Sparks” spans two decades, starting with prison guard Jimmy buckling in the feverish baby son his wife left him with and driving to a gambling casino, and culminating with Junior, now a young man, spotting his father stumbling along the side of the road, barefoot in the snow, and driving right past this pathetic shell of a man-and by extension, this ruined family. “It was 3 AM,” Schultz repeatedly reminds us.'' So according to the official website he knew it was his father.

OMG! In the end of this video, was it Jimmy's son driving the car who didn't give a ride to Jimmy? We'll, this 10 part story is more interesting than the series DARK.
[Verse 1] Jimmy Sparks went into bars and opened up his mouth Said some things to wounded men that they could not allow When it came to talking, he was always on the run Everyone knew what the man had done Oh, he'll take you for a ride Jimmy believed in the American way A prison guard, he worked hard and made the minimum wage He found his freedom lockin’ men in a cage, oh Jimmy loved Bonnie and he fathered a kid A baby boy, but the mother had other reasons to live She left the baby with a note on the bed, oh It was a struggle just to cover the rent His jail cut hours and now his little baby was sick He needed money and he needed it quick It was 3 AM [Chorus] Oh, my love, oh, my love Could you spare my blood, spare my blood? [Verse 2] Jim woke his son and buckled him in the car They drove an hour from town and found a gambling hall The waitress babysat the boy at the bar, oh no After an hour, Jimmy doubled his cash He took his kid and his winnings as the dealer just laughed He said they leave, but then they always come back, that's a fact Out on the road, they caught a stranger in the lights His thumb was up and his son asked if the man was alright Jim said you never give a hitcher a ride 'cause it’s us or them It was 3 AM [Chorus] Oh, my love, oh, my love Could you spare my blood, spare my blood? [Verse 3] 20 years gone and now the boy is a man Broke Jimmy's habits, got in mountains and mountains of debt And now the sharks are coming back to collect, oh-oh They stripped his jewelry and the boots off Jim's feet They kick him out of the car and say we'll give you a week Eight miles from home and only 18 degrees It was 3 AM [Chorus] Oh, my love, oh, my love Could you spare my blood, spare my blood? [Verse 4] Now Jimmy's son is trying to make his way home His graveyard shift had ended and it was starting to snow He sees an old man walking barefoot alone It was 3 AM His old man waved his hands with tears in his eyes But Jimmy's son just sped up and remembered daddy's advice No, you don't ever give a hitcher a ride ’cause it’s us or them 'Cause it’s me or him It was 3 AM, 3 AM
This, to me, is the most heartbreaking song on the whole album. To me, Jimmy was just a father that tried to do his best for his son, Junior, going to great lengths and getting himself into serious danger just to ensure his offspring has a better life than him. The fact that his wife left him didn't help much, and you can't blame him for giving into substance abuse and a gambling addiction. Considering Bonnie was the second most important woman in his life to leave, I completely understand his motives. Of course that doesn't excuse his behaviour towards Junior, but frankly you can't blame anyone. The situation itself was pure misfortune. To see Jimmy, whose motives were fundamentally so pure, so destroyed and hopeless on the road, with blood all over him, made me shed some tears.
in the end, jimmy was a normal father ( with some issues) , his relationship with junior was a little bit complicated but he loved him and he stayed with him till the end... unlike his mother. I think that Jimmy Sparks song is most beatiful song on this new "dark" album. This song is so powerful, left me a tear in my eye.
Clifford TheVulture I would argue that Jimmy abused his son, and perpetuated the cycle of violence stemming from his mother- either Gloria or Donna, not sure who it is yet. Normal fatherhood should give a positive example of how to deal with emotions, instead of using alcohol, sex, parties, and gambling to push down/ignore ones issues. He did admittedly stay with Junior, and love him the best way he knew how, but was not a normal father. To say he was normal devalues the word father.
@@cliffordthevulture7997 It is NOT normal. IT is not acceptable. Ever. Lots and lots of people have issues. In fact, I would argue that most of us do because it's an imperfect world. But we don't abuse or neglect or leave our children. We double-down--we work to give our children a better life than we had.
The band itself is portraying Jimmy as the abusive father he is with zero normalization. Come on, dude. He didn't have just "some issues", or " a little bit complicated" relationship with Junior. That's what they are showing to you, real abuse.
I think you’re view on whether or not this is “normal” hinges on your experience with your own parents. I can definitely relate to the fucked up things that happened to the Sparks family. Yes, Jimmy had plenty of demons but he was simply perpetuating the same lessons he had been taught. This happens in families that deal with serious issues and unfortunately the cycle is rarely broken.
Ok hear me out: I’m seriously convinced Gloria is actually “singing” leader of the landslide, and talking about her mother. In the lyrics from “Donna”, it says “you told your daughter she was ordinary.” But neither Gloria or Jimmy have daughters, so I think this is referencing Donna calling Gloria ordinary. I think Donna was an alcoholic or abusive mother, if not both, and I think Donna was the leader of the landslide. It’s also the first song on the album, making it the leader of this album, and essentially calling Donna the leader of the landslide. I think this allllll goes back to her, and how she royally fucked this poor family up.
I’m a hip hop head but I can appreciate good music of any genre . What I love more than anything is music with substance , and music that tells a story. Fantastic ! I’m glad I found this
This is amazing how the things turn out - we can see that nothing is either black or white. And Jimmy is not just bad, addicted man. Damn, this guy is very wounded on his soul. Thats why he does things we consider as wrong. He has a good heart tho. You can see it in the eyes and in the way he tries to fight for his son the way he can. Masterpiece!!!
This album has broke me so bad and I'm really struggling it's not a cry for help I just hope someone sees this someone help them before it's to late thank you to all of yous
this song is honestly such a work of art, like when i first heard it i had chills the whole time. it's so haunting both in the music and the lyrics, and it tells such a tragic story. the repetition of "it's us or them," to "it's me or him," finally to "it was three a.m.," is just so beautiful GAHH i love this song the most off this whole album, but obviously the entire album and the music videos are unique and unlike anything else out there right now! thank u lumineers, for being so genuine and honest in your art
"His old man waved his hands with tears in his eyes." This line breaks my heart. It's Jimmy. Our Jimmy, and he is crying. All he want is good life and good love. Please wes and Jer give him a better ending.
This album/short-movie has amazing songs, concept and strength. I hope you guys get more and more recognition from now on, specially in Brazil. (You have to come here, please). It's time for you to really spark now, you diserve that. And by the way, I had a brother who was hit by a car seven years ago. He was an addicted. Each song from this album talks with me in a way no one did before. Thank you for that as wel.
Another realization I see is that on the leader of the landslide song, Bonnie might be the one Junior talks about as the leader of the landslide and not Gloria, as Jimmy’s alcoholism and addiction started when Bonnie left to have a better life. In this music video, Jimmy seemed to be a non-alcoholic man in the recorded flashbacks. Another thing that might support this is the lyrics, All I ever wanted was a mother for the first time Finally I could see you as the leader of the landslide.
I'm probably wrong, but I thought of Junior as The Leader of the Landslide, because Jimmy offered him that beer and he just threw it back in his father's alcoholic face, in his grandmother's alcoholic face. Junior says no to that legacy. He says *fuck no* to that legacy. I've never been so proud of someone in a music video before.
When you read the lyrics to Salt and the Sea you will kinda confirm your beliefs. It's Jimmy's perspective of how her destroying his life caused him so much anguish and he's now moving on but still loves her. I think we'll see a happy ending in this. Jimmy will pull himself out of the cycle of darkness that I argue all began with Gloria's parents. We'll see they weren't so happy lovey as the them holding one another while the house is built implies. They built a house of generational pain. Baby Gloria crying in the end of Donna is foreshadowing that it all began there (this downward familial spiral).
One other point that I think can be made about your theory: reading lyrics, Jimmy lied about Bonnie leaving to protect him. Junior only sees Jimmy and how he's fallen. We see he has this WILD imagination that longs for things impossible (the instagram chick in his truck and the loving nurturing mother) but what he doesn't realize is how much Jimmy did to protect him (again read all the lyrics of all the songs) and you'll see Junior longs for the mother he never had while Jimmy has lied to Junior about the circumstances of her leaving to protect him. I think we'll find out that Bonnie is a horrible person. Jimmy is a good guy who falls on hard times and gets into trouble while in desperation and turns to substance abuse as a coping mechanism. There is a GENETIC component to alcoholism so he was predisposed to it. We're given the glimpse from Junior's viewpoint FIRST in chapter 2 so we see it from the outside and it makes it so easy for us to judge the karma of others (read those lyrics!) until we see the underlying story unfold and we realize that Jimmy's outward actions make him look like trash, but he's still a broken human being who had circumstances out of his control that impacted his life in such a way that he went down bad paths.
I know!! This song here made me do a total 180 on how I feel about Bonnie, and since many have theorized she's the reason Junior's in Denver it makes me sad she left. Jimmy Sparks shows how, after seeing him as the alcoholic his son can't become, he's still an empathetic person who really didn't want this. It's also disturbing that his alcoholism may not have started with Gloria after all - meaning Junior avoiding it for now doesn't absolve him for life, and that's scary. Also relate to TheDreamerBelle in how I was so proud of Junior for throwing back that beer!
At first, I thought that Jimmy was indeed an irresponsible and just a good for nothing dad and husband, however, my perspective about him totally changed after this video. Another reason why Junior gets angry whenever his dad drinks is that he knows that his father started to be like that after his mom left them. He kinda feels disappointed as to why his father didnt look for her and tried to put their family back instead of just drinking and drowning in it thats why he might have decided to find his mother by his own tking the gun and the photograph of his dad and mom in left for denver video.
The Lumineers are the only band I listen to that isn't rock/metal/punk. Theyre just so good, I've seen them twice live and held back tears the first time, and cried the entire set the second time haha. The lyrics just hit you so hard sometimes, good music for the soul 🖤
I just adore what you guys have done with this album, and specifically this song, the whole Nightshade connection is awesome. Cannot wait to see you in Manchester!
Just picked up the new album on gold vinyl, I love it, it's a masterpiece. The story is awesome, lyrics hard hitting and touching too. Gonna listen to it all again...a really great job.
I felt like I was watching family stories. My family wasnt as dramatic but it felt so sadly familiar. I keep watching them like Im watching a train wreck. Lumineers really know how to tell stories.
I'm a sucker for doggos. The scene with the puppy in the video--and seeing the adult version of the dog in his hallucination from the last video--and knowing that the dog died and was buried during Junior's Chapter... That just makes me wanna cry.
Honestly, this song is something else. You listen to it, and it feels like the most chilling movie you've ever seen. It's like an audio book, a story that I can't stop listening to.

From Part 1 to 8 of 10, the message till now through a heart-felt story by Lumineers is clear; that is addiction ; then it can be cigarette, alcohol, drugs or any other weed ; could cause such misery in your life ruining your lovely relationships and financial conditions as depicted in the series. Hats off to presentation of these series by 'The Lumineers' & TEAM. Keep it up.
This album came to me like a bomb of emotions exactly in the moment that I needed it. More than music and well done videos, there are lotta emotions coming trought. LOVE IT!
Oh shit...about to get realzy...ha. this is an amazing concept that the Lumineers are putting out. I have been more excited for these releases than I have been of a full length movie in a long time!!
It's honestly hard to pick a favorite song out of all of them but this one is definitely up there. What am I saying? All of them are up there but idk there's something that really makes me like this one
I think that was Junior driving the truck past Jimmy at the end, connecting this to the end of Left for Denver. And like father like son he ignored the man who needed help on the side of the road...powerful stuff
What do you guys think about this chapter of The Sparks family?
I love it

Parallels: that road again, where Gloria had an accident. _“Now Jimmy's son is trying to make his way home, His graveyard shift had ended and it was starting to snow, He sees an old man walking barefoot alone, His old man waved his hands with tears in his eyes But Jimmy's son just sped up and remembered daddy's advice, No you don't ever give a hitcher a ride.”_
This reminded me of the lyrics in ‘Donna’ - _“You love to judge strangers' karma”_
*Track 9. "April"*
Just Junior following Jimmy's advice. Lol.
*Track 10. "Salt and The Sea"*
The lyrics of this song equates alcohol to salt and the sea - which are both regarded as cures for anything.
Wooow
that's heavy
Woah that's damn heavy
OMG dude.... WOW
i love you
This is why I get pissed when people think of the Lumineers as the "Ho Hey" band
Yesss I feel with u!
Their loss 🤷🏻♂️ more for the rest of us 😌
Exactly. This Is with So many indie bands. Just like everybody knows OMaM as "Little Talks" band.
Trikalabris THANK YOU
Not that Ho Hey is bad at all. Honestly it’s a better song WITHOUT the Hos and Heys. I’d be standing on Canal and Bowery, she’d be standing next to me...
this album has been the BEST part of my summer!
Yeah
I CAN RELATE
god, this family. feels like they're really real
@kickinggeese same
SAME!
We don't deserve this album. We don't deserve The Lumineers.
Well, I do.
It's not the album we need, but the album we deserve.
Shut up
- what series are you watching?
Me: III - the lumineers
Edit: did not expect so many people to relate
Totally! LOL
Haha, true! 😄✌🏻
😆👍
Someone asked me this question tonight.
My mind uttered The Lumineers.
Alas, I thought before I spoke, what a pretty lonely heart of mine.
I plainly smiled as an answer.
I felt complete reading this comment. Thank You. :)
Oh yes I keep coming back to it
We're so lumi-near to part 10
Kshastra!!! I appreciate you
@terrorgang Saying cringe is cringe.
Clever lol
When the lyrics have more intense visuals than the video lol
I feel like that’s the point of it. The lyrics are so visionary you didn’t need the music video, but this showed so much more backstory about Jimmy’s life.
Yea I think it would of been too easy filming a video to match the lyrics here. Instead we just see a broken man in the video, and the song tells the backstory.
its called poetry
True the music video is just pointless to me
So incredible the whole film, story album to a real fan is breathtaking
I used to be a fan of The Lumineers but now I'm an Air conditioner.
🇿🇦
🤣😂🤣😂🤣👍
Dumisani Zungu 😂😂
I think you deserve a medal for this comment
Didn't get?
In my opinion, this is The Lumineers' greatest song. It's just absolutely perfect. Truly brilliant story telling!
I use this song as one of my workout songs but also as a song I listen too when I get drunk this song ignites many interesting emotions
Jimmy had such a sad story, but that doesn't justifies the fact that he was an awful father to Junior. Junior deserves way better, he literally paid for things that his grandmother and mother did. I really do hope that he breaks the cycle.
Hopefully him leaving and not helping his dad represents just that. He deserves better
i think that’s what Junior was trying to symbolize to himself in Left For Denver by burning the piano that Gloria olayer is that he didn’t want to be like them and that he was going to take initiative to turn the story around
Nick Stahl is such a fantastic actor. Such a badass.
Alexander ' Agreed! He’s in one of my favorite shows.. Carnival!
"They strip the jewelry and the boots off Jim's feet
. They kick him out of the car and say we'll give you a week"
Later that night Jimmy's son "sees an old man walking barefoot alone"
The moment I was standing in the shower listening to this and realised that Jimmy was in fact the old man his son drove past as he listened to his dad's advice can be described as nothing short of a spiritual experience
Why did I know it would be him since I first heard it
It says “his old man waved his hands with tears in his eyes.” So the song actually does say that the old man is Jimmy
@@Tetsawetsa Oh interesting, I thought it was just "the old man"
What I love is in my mind Jimmy's son knows its dad but he thinks cant help him I have to look out for myself
“It was 3 AM,” Schultz repeatedly reminds us.''
So according to the official website he knew it was his father.
I love how they release the videos as if they were the pieces of a puzzle, and I really can't wait for all the theories 👀 some people out there in the comment section have really advanced analytic skills!
The son in part 10 comes back with a bag of money and the cops chase him
The whole story of this album is on their website under the ABOUT section
@@typothemystic2640 I didn't know that, thank you so much! (I love the speculations tho, I think it's nice that everyone views the story in a different way, so I really enjoy reading the comments!)
If III isn't at the Oscars, I'm gonna be pissed
Its got a chance, let's go for best live action short film!!!
And the oscar award goes to lumineers, it's high time!!!
oh, my love..
OMG! In the end of this video, was it Jimmy's son driving the car who didn't give a ride to Jimmy? We'll, this 10 part story is more interesting than the series DARK.
[Verse 1]
Jimmy Sparks went into bars and opened up his mouth
Said some things to wounded men that they could not allow
When it came to talking, he was always on the run
Everyone knew what the man had done
Oh, he'll take you for a ride
Jimmy believed in the American way
A prison guard, he worked hard and made the minimum wage
He found his freedom lockin’ men in a cage, oh
Jimmy loved Bonnie and he fathered a kid
A baby boy, but the mother had other reasons to live
She left the baby with a note on the bed, oh
It was a struggle just to cover the rent
His jail cut hours and now his little baby was sick
He needed money and he needed it quick
It was 3 AM
[Chorus]
Oh, my love, oh, my love
Could you spare my blood, spare my blood?
[Verse 2]
Jim woke his son and buckled him in the car
They drove an hour from town and found a gambling hall
The waitress babysat the boy at the bar, oh no
After an hour, Jimmy doubled his cash
He took his kid and his winnings as the dealer just laughed
He said they leave, but then they always come back, that's a fact
Out on the road, they caught a stranger in the lights
His thumb was up and his son asked if the man was alright
Jim said you never give a hitcher a ride 'cause it’s us or them
It was 3 AM
[Chorus]
Oh, my love, oh, my love
Could you spare my blood, spare my blood?
[Verse 3]
20 years gone and now the boy is a man
Broke Jimmy's habits, got in mountains and mountains of debt
And now the sharks are coming back to collect, oh-oh
They stripped his jewelry and the boots off Jim's feet
They kick him out of the car and say we'll give you a week
Eight miles from home and only 18 degrees
It was 3 AM
[Chorus]
Oh, my love, oh, my love
Could you spare my blood, spare my blood?
[Verse 4]
Now Jimmy's son is trying to make his way home
His graveyard shift had ended and it was starting to snow
He sees an old man walking barefoot alone
It was 3 AM
His old man waved his hands with tears in his eyes
But Jimmy's son just sped up and remembered daddy's advice
No, you don't ever give a hitcher a ride ’cause it’s us or them
'Cause it’s me or him
It was 3 AM, 3 AM
Horia Scarlat agreed
this is so beautiful written
I don't understand why this doesn't have more views.... This album is a masterpiece
Sure in the truck that Jimmy sees at the end of the video, there is Junior. He takes the van at the end of "Left for Denver"
ITS CRAZY HOW MUCH THE LUMINEERS HAS MATURED. THIS IS ART, THIS IS MUSIC, THIS IS PASSION, AND WE RE SO LUCKY TO BE THEIR AUDIENCE.
How was this not a number 1 album wow
The cell and jimmy sparks are probably fav songs of the album
I mean all of them are great but the cell and jimmy sparks are soooo well written
Underrated band as fuck. You are a fucking artist and storyteller who move many souls and hearts. You deserve to be recognized by mainstream media.
I like how at 2:37 his steps look like a baby's. And then at 4:21 the imagery is there again.
Wonderful album guys.
in the end, jimmy was a normal father ( with some issues) , his relationship with junior was a little bit complicated but he loved him and he stayed with him till the end... unlike his mother.
@@bustedflexplate3772 NEVER broken my friend. NEVER.
One of my favorite songs off of the new album!!
Kate G old lady is my top favorite it’s fucking beautiful
Ok hear me out:
I’m seriously convinced Gloria is actually “singing” leader of the landslide, and talking about her mother.
The music after 4:18 is my solitude
I’m a hip hop head but I can appreciate good music of any genre . What I love more than anything is music with substance , and music that tells a story. Fantastic ! I’m glad I found this
thank you for everything, The Lumineers. also really sorry when i blinded you, Wes, with my polaroid flash at bonnaroo lol
I love the actors they chose for this album. I feel like I'm watching a real person's life. These videos are such powerful art.
Loved when folks were trying to connect the dots before the album released. Beautiful community.
This has to be one of their best tracks, lyrically I would say it is the best. What a band!
Far more than just a normal track....you guys are just the best, Lumineers....
Am from Ghana,West africa ...much love from me and my girlfriend
the gambia
this song is honestly such a work of art, like when i first heard it i had chills the whole time. it's so haunting both in the music and the lyrics, and it tells such a tragic story. the repetition of "it's us or them," to "it's me or him," finally to "it was three a.m.," is just so beautiful GAHH i love this song the most off this whole album, but obviously the entire album and the music videos are unique and unlike anything else out there right now! thank u lumineers, for being so genuine and honest in your art
A magnificent band that shows the reality of families, and the lyrics are wonderful. ❤️
Brazil 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Anyone else realize this is the same sound as the song Nightshade?
They have been using a lot of melodies that we have heard before in this album, to tie the stories together.
@@FemmeFren I realize that, but I wasn't expecting a game of thrones song to be tied into the album lol
@@FemmeFren bud Nightshade was a single written for GOT
And yeah it's curious that they used the melody of Nightshade
Also, no two lumineers songs are as similar as Nightshade and Jimmy Sparks
Every time they release a new movie, I feel the need to go back and watch them all in a row.
The Lumineers's albums are better than any movie
"His old man waved his hands with tears in his eyes."
This line breaks my heart.
Another thing that might support this is the lyrics, All I ever wanted was a mother for the first time
Finally I could see you as the leader of the landslide.
I’m new to these guys and im not disappointed..
*cheers*
Even if I’m having a rough day, a notification from The Lumineers always brights up my day.
This song is chilling
The Lumineers are the only band I listen to that isn't rock/metal/punk. Theyre just so good, I've seen them twice live and held back tears the first time, and cried the entire set the second time haha. The lyrics just hit you so hard sometimes, good music for the soul 🖤
My heart broke in two when he didn’t stop for his dad.
I mean, I can understand
One of their most underrated songs ever
This guy's pen must be heavy AF! such great writing
This has to be my favorite song on the album
I'm literally shaking, this is art.
Sometimes you just can't find the words to describe something so beautiful...Really It's A MASTERPIECE
this guy is an amazing actor. the first part literally hurt to watch
That just makes me wanna cry.
this cinematography, mind blowing
the lyrics, meaningful
the lumineers, tight af
Makes me realize people don't notice. And all we want is for someone to notice us deeply and truly.
I can’t believe I’m going to see them on February 19th I’m already crying

Pretty cool!
LOVE IT!
I want to watch this in all it's uncompressed beauty.
Their songs and videos are just made in another world it's impossible ?! III is a masterpiece to watch and to listen.
Hauntingly beautiful
Guys, you really know how to tell a story. Great lyrics, great story... and finally, great music :)
Oh shit...about to get realzy...ha. this is an amazing concept that the Lumineers are putting out. I have been more excited for these releases than I have been of a full length movie in a long time!!
This is my favorite song, anyone else’s?
This album is phenomenal!
I haven't got the feel of "my pretty little cell"yet but this song is amaaaazing. I love it so much!
It's honestly hard to pick a favorite song out of all of them but this one is definitely up there. What am I saying? All of them are up there but idk there's something that really makes me like this one
Me fully aware that this series will break my heart... 'Next part please!'
Beautiful one of the best songs from the album
this movie deserves an oscar. touched me in ways i didn't know i could still feel.
I think that was Junior driving the truck past Jimmy at the end, connecting this to the end of Left for Denver. And like father like son he ignored the man who needed help on the side of the road...powerful stuff
jesus christ I have CHILLS ty Jeremiah and Wes ily both
Very dark and atmospheric album. Their best yet!
Im left speechless! WOW. I really love getting puzzle pieces of the story. It's so intriguing, and I cannot wait for the other videos to come.
I've been waiting for this music video since the song was released 😭
