looks like you embrace change. Nothing wrong with that. I went from a 1991 diesel pusher 36' Grand Villa Foretravel to 16' Park Liner fiber glass trailer. Haven't camped yet in the trailer but once the snow here starts to melt and I can get it equipped like I want, it's on down the road. I absolutely adore Travels with Delaney. They are so very thoughtful and real. Can't wait to meet up with them someday.
@Ktytravel we definitely embrace change, LOL. Cool that you've had a fiberglass trailer! As you may know we LOVE fiberglass. We absolutely adore them too, they're very genuine people on TH-cam and off. We met them through TH-cam but have come to consider them good friends. Maybe we'll see you down the road too. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
I am pretty sure that D&H is the only authorized dealer of Northern Lite's in the South East. That's where I bought mine awhile back. As part of my deal, they installed stable loads and fast gun tiedowns on my truck at their shop which is on site. Very nice people and we have really enjoyed our Northern Lite. I do heavy offloading (boondocking) in mine throughout Summer and Fall (3 to 6 months at a stretch) in the Rocky Mountains and deserts of Utah, Nevada and Arizona...they are built tough and I have had zero issues with anything breaking or even shaking loose. I run a F350 SRW to carry mine with no problem on highways or off road. You guys are going to love your camper...it makes getting way off track very comfortable without the weight normally associated with this size of a camper.
Hi Flying Dutchman, Glad to hear your enjoying yours and that it's worked out so well for several months at a time. Sounds like your going to some awesome places. We hope to get out west someday. So far we have really enjoyed ours and we're looking forward to a lot more camping in it. Thanks for watching!
I Really like your TH-cam channel. You exude shared happiness and the work you did on all your projects made me feel confident to buy my first truck camper. Its a 1993 lance 900 and came with a 1990 Ford 350 dually. Its incredible and my wife and I are enjoying the flexibility that it gives to quick getaways.
We're on the same path. Went from a T@g to a T@b to get a bathroom, then just fell in love with the idea of a truck camper and being able to stop along the way. Bought a used Cirrus this month and can't wait for the adventure. Thanks for such a helpful channel!
@Kelli Nina Perkins I'm interested to hear about your experience with it. We love those too and were seriously looking at a used one before we decided on the 2005 Northern Lite. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
We loved your video! Since 2016 we went from a 2000 Lance Truck Camper (loved it) to a 2017 Winnebago Navion (didn't like it to much, to a 2005 Bigfoot Class C - 24 ft (loved it) to a 2020 Pleasure Way Lexor FL. We are keeping this one - as we always say. Just got back from Tampa RV show. Hopefully will meet you on the road some day as seems we have much in common. We are WNC residents.
Hi We Were Snowed In, At least I know we're not alone in camper swapping. :) The Pleasure Way campers are nice I hope you really enjoy it. Thanks for watching!
My wife and I bought the 2017 NL 10-2 new. We love it. It is a five star camper and it is great to see this top of the line Canadian made product is available in the States. It is in my opinion the best quality available in a truck camper. With a minimum of care it will last a lifetime.
@Scallywag67 we are loving it too. We camped in our 2019 for the second time this weekend and absolutely loved it. And, you're right with minimal care the exterior fiberglass shell will last FOREVER. Thank you for watching!! ~Carla
OMG!!! You bought a camper that doesn't need a renovation! LOL Congratulations! We are so happy for you and can't wait to see it in person. Keep this purchasing up and you're going to catch us on the total number of campers owned!
Yep kinda crazy! I think we got a few more before we can catch up with you. We're going to have to slow down these darn campers are getting expensive. :) We're looking forward to go camping and get to hang out with y'all more soon.
I keep hearing you say we have done a lot of work to it. You obviously have good skills and are able to remodel your projects yourself most people unfortunately don't and will have to buy with that in mind.
@Drew yung Kwei yes when we're fixing one up we try to keep in mind that someone may end up with it that can't do this type of thing and we overdo some things. We hope that when we sell our used 2005 Northern Lite, someone wont have to do anything for a very long time since we've fixed most of what could go wrong. We are going to price it with that in mind. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
Whoo-hoo! Congratulations on that sweet find! Cracked me up when Todd said " here's our new camper that we'll (hopefully) enjoy for a long time... " Like a couple of weeks? Lol! Seriously tho, you guys have peaked my interest in truck campers since you started this so can't wait to see more adventures! Safe travels and happy camping you two! ~💜
Hey Stacey, You never know with us we're always subject to change. :) I didn't notice I said "Hopefully" but I guess that sounds about right. I think we'll really enjoy having a newer camper. It's fun to try something different. We hope your doing well. Thanks for commenting and watching! Have fun camping in 2020!
I share your affinity for buying campers. Owned pop-ups, travel trailer, fifth wheel, truck camper and now my class C. Even though my class c was new it did not slow me down on working on it lol. Good luck with your newest toy.
This is my take on a campers, I’ve had many I’m from Ontario Canada I love lance campers interior I have a 2005 lance 845 it’s great love the room inside mine has two beds up front great for you and a buddy or when your camping with my kids ! Sits on short box truck it’s on a 2007 dodge Cummins diesel ! But the best built buy far is the northern lite and the Bigfoot you can’t compare them to any other campers ! I spend a lot of my time fixing leaks that occur at the seams or roof corners or almost any place it’s true all campers can leak but Bigfoot and northern lite with there clam design almost eliminate 90 % of regular leaks ! Hope you guys enjoy your norhern lite great choose and Canadian built AH !
@Larry Jeanveau we totally agree, that is why we chose the Northern Lite. It was that or the Bigfoot since we're advocates of fiberglass campers in general. I would say ALL DAY LONG to get a fiberglass camper over any of the others. We're not saying those aren't good, we're just saying we prefer the fiberglass ones :-) Thank you for watching from one fiberglass person to another :-) ~Carla
Congratulations on the new rig! I like how you guys enjoy switching it up. Those Truck campers look pretty cool. I'm heading down to Charlotte and Savannah today from northern Ohio with my little Ameri-Lite camper. Thanks for the videos. 👍
Okay, I certainly enjoy all of your informative and fun videos. They are awesome! The other awesome thing about your videos are the two of you. Carla and Todd, you two are a fun couple, and are enjoyable to watch together. Where are the videos of you two yelling at eachother? ;-) Honestly, I am a bit more than jealous. My wife is more deaf than me, English as a second language, and actually loves being mad and screaming. LOL. Had an old trailer for a bit when I was roadracing motorcycles. Did it's purpose, but once got stuck in mud up to my wheelwells in my racevan trying to turn around in grass after it rained for three days after going sking and missing my turnoff. Perhaps one day I will get a truck camper when my daughter finishes school. You two stay safe, and fun.
Great news for you both - My wife and I just bought our first truck camper (2018 Lance 995). My wife and I have a 38ft 5th wheel and wanted to add some diversity to our retirement travels.......as they say......and now there were two! We leave tomorrow for Charlotte, NC to spend the weekend camping in the new TC. We also signed up for the Mid Atlantic truck camper rally in April at Tall Pines Harbor resort on the Va Eastern Shore. I need some more expert knowledge from the rally group. Best of luck - Bryan in Virginia
@RAM Tow It that is great. Those Lance truck campers are beautiful!! Have fun with it on the road. We are also looking into some truck camper Rallys this year, we've heard they are fun and that you can get a lot of great ideas and info from them. Safe travels you you and your wife. Maybe we'll see you at a rally sometime 😁. ~Carla
Congrats! Glad you are staying with a truck camper. Nothing wrong with other RV’s but it’s more fun to see what folks do with similar rigs. I’m the gal with the Northstar TC and love it! Looking forward to the tour and mods! Beautiful looking rig! I’m heading out of snow country in a week and going Southwest this winter🥾! Safe travels and hope we cross paths someday.
HI CJ, Yep we wanted to stay with the truck campers as they are a fun alternative to trailers. I wish we were going to the Southwest for the winter too. Have fun and safe travels! Thanks for watching.
Todd… I have great respect for your vlogs until I saw you in this video wearing a Gibson T…. Now you are my new hero! Hope you play! Thank you both for your very interesting vlogs.
Hi Armen, I have some guitars but I really suck at playing. I'm actually a drummer, been playing since I was a kid. Thanks for the comment and watching! Todd
@Andy W that has definitely become my motto. We went camping this past weekend and it was so nice to just enjoy our camper and not worry about anything. You're welcome, thank you for watching! ~Carla
Great video! Sure hope you like the 10-2 as much as I like mine:) I noticed in on of the photos of the 10-2 you leveled the camper without taking it off the truck, it sure makes setup and take down super easy and fast. Hope to see you both sometime this spring. Wife and I are still figuring out what's on the agenda for camping this year. Great video as usual. Gary S.
Hey Gary, We enjoyed our first trip in the new NL very much. We are looking forward to taking it to a rally in Florida for 4 nights. We blame you for our new Northern Lite. :) Kidding of course. We hope to see you soon as well. Hopefully we'll both get lots of good camping in this year. Talk to ya later and thanks for watching! ~ Todd
Just joined the Northern Lite club by picking up our new 2020 Northern Lite 8-11 EXLE dry bath. Your video repairing your last Northern Lite kind of scared us a bit, but we finally decided that those repairs were due to the previous owner's failure to due preventative maintenance and storing the camper outside. Guess you must have felt the same, since you decided to go with a new Northern Lite even after all the work you put into the older one.
We started trailer camping with rental 16' Casitas from the local military base. When the base sold off their Casitas, I started looking for a fiberglass trailer. I found a 1973 Compact Jr and bought it. Wife and I loved fixing it up and camped in it for 6 years. Needed more room though, and started a new search. Found a 1980 17' Bigfoot in Ohio (we live in Texas)and bought it. Have been camping in it since 2009. We also attend rallies (more than 30) for fiberglass trailers, mostly in Texas.
@Tom Trostel that is so cool, I didn't realize that they did that back then. The Compact Jrs are so cool. We actually saw a 1972 Compact Jr this weekend at the rally we went to. (Good year, it's the year I was born, LOL) I wish Todd still had his, maybe one day we can find one that hasn't been restored and restore it together, that would be so cool. Maybe we'll run into you and your wife at a fiberglass rally in the future. Thank you so much for watching our video! ~Carla
A wonderful video looking back at all your awesome rigs! Loved the little Compact Jr and the Casita, you did beautiful work on all of them! We are new to your channel & are fellow Molded Fiberglass RV owners with a 15B Escape. We are looking forward to following your journey. Congrats on the new rig, it's gorgeous! Until next friends, safe travels. 😊
D & H are good people, I bought my truck camper from them. Used it as my home in North Carolina while my house in Maryland was being sold. Found a place to plug in and get water and I was good to go for four months. Loved living in the camper. Happy Trails "Runaway Roses" !!!
@Joe Dunbar I believe you are right about that. We didn't even buy our camper from them and they recommended that we use the guy that transports their campers. I am so very appreciative! I am not sure we could live in our camper with me, Todd and Taylor but we would definitely consider going on a long trip in it :-) Thank you for watching our video! ~Carla
Awesome! A truck camper was number one on my want list. But I couldn't afford a truck and camper. So I ended up with a NuCamp T@B 400 thanks to Patrick's (Travel with Delaney) video's. Over the last 20 years I have had 5 motorhome's....buy older ones,....fix them and move up to next one. So glad to you enjoying life!
@Donald Collie well those T@B 400s are so cool. We love @Travels with Delaney 's T@B 400. When we first started looking at campers (after our Casita) we seriously looked at one of those too. Glad to know we aren't the only ones who go through campers like we do, lol. Thanks for watching! ~Carla
I wish I could buy your camper!! Bigfoots and Northern lights definitely seem like the best-built truck campers! I like the truck camper talk and I'd love to hear more from you guys. I'm currently in the market for both a truck and camper and I can't wait to get out on the road! Definitely make the dually vs SRW truck video if you haven't yet! Cheers guys! Happy camping!
Very nice.. thanks for taking us down memory lane on your campers. That was cool. We are still on Camper #1 and love it. We seem to be going in the opposite direction on size. We went from tent to 33 ft. Next one will probably be around 35 ft. But the its all about the fun and experiences we have on our journey. Thanks again for sharing.
Hey Happy Place Diaries, It is easy to get bigger and bigger campers that's for sure. Big or small it doesn't matter as long as we have fun on our adventures and experiences like you said. We enjoy your channel keep up the good work. Thanks for watching!
I love your videos. I too am a bit of a perfectionist. Which sometimes causes delays in my project completion. This has also caused me problems as I am shopping for a used camper. With that in mind, Todd maybe you could share a punch list of items someone would want to consider when shopping for a used camper. As your expertise in remodeling and updating campers would be a wealth of insight for someone like myself. Again, I love your videos and thank you for sharing expertise!
Hi Dino Hicks, I'm certainly not an expert on campers but after fixing many of them I've seen what I like and don't like about the way some of them are built. I don't have a camper shopping punch list of what I would like to see but that is a good idea. Maybe I'll think about that and put something together. There's no perfect camper out there that's for sure. Everyone has such different likes and dislikes that I'm sure many people would not agree with me. I'm not an engineer but I do like to see things over engineered rather than under engineered for my dollar spent anyhow. Thanks for commenting and watching! ~ Todd
@The Art of RVing we did love it but it was a little cramped for Todd. You're right life happens, we're in a different phase now. Who knows we will return to the travel trailer phase someday, right now we're in the truck camper phase :-) Thanks for watching!! ~Carla
Hey its Ron and Cindy from Va. Congrats on yet another great looking camper. Like the Cherry wood inside. Cant wait to see the vid on it. We will be picking our 400 back up from Ohio in April and are looking forward to getting some camping done. Hope to see you guys again some day this year perhaps. Keep us informed on some meet ups or whatever and maybe we can make one. Stay happy guys....and have a great 2020.
Hey Ron and Cindy, Good to hear from you and thanks for the nice comments. Wow I'm sorry to hear you haven't gotten your 400 back from NuCamp by now. I'm sure when you get it back it will be great and ready to go. Hopefully you'll get lots of fun camping in this year and really enjoy it. Those 400's sure are nice campers. Safe travels and Thanks for watching!
Like your rig! My wife and I have a SRW RAM 3500 and '18 Bigfoot 10.4. I put Boar Wheels (Cruiser 67) 19.5 w/Continental Scandinavia HD3's (265 profile) on. Each tire can handle 5500 lbs. The Boar Wheels are rated over 6k. Look awesome, are safe, and reduced sway. Added large Hellwig on rear to help too, with airbags to level. That will make your set up safer and more enjoyable! The tires and wheels are the best... Boar Wheels took care of me - you should check them out!
@Eric Barr I am so sorry, I don't know why it showed that we did a thumbs down on this but we find your set up super interesting. I showed Todd what you were used and he started looking these things up. We love the Bigfoot 10.4 with the dry bath and had we found one of those as cheap as we got our 2019 Northern Lite 10-2, we might have one of those right now, LOL. Thank you for watching and commenting on our video, we appreciate it and your suggestions on how you have yours set up. ~Carla
Great video! We love seeing what others have had! I want a truck camper so bad for many years! Convincing Magen is another story. I shop online for that truck camper that needs TLC so I can get into it cheap enough so I stay out of trouble😊 thank you for sharing!
Hey Dreaming Outloud Rving, Just keep an eye out like we did and I'm sure a cheap truck camper will pop up. I guess I lucked out because Carla was all for it and it didn't take any convincing. Safe travels and Thanks for watching! ~ Todd
Hi Sandy Michalski, That's awesome I'm glad we could help. We hope you have a lot of fun adventures in your camper. Safe travels and happy camping! Thanks for watching.
I have missed a lot with my video backlog. I think I have seen that you have done some mods to the new one. I can't wait to catch up and see them. Safe travels.
Congrats! That’s what I’ll be getting later this year but a 9-6. Going full time once I sell the house. In the process of finding a 1 ton truck now. I have to see if the dealer I’m planning to go to, will deliver but if not, that’s ok.
Runaway Roses I won’t have the pantry so will have to get creative lol. Look forward to seeing your NL experience! I researched for about 3 years as to what I thought would work for me and which TC I thought was the best fit. Nice NL FB Group if interested and not already in it.
Congratulations! In an hour I'll leave home for Mike Jones Motors/RV outside Cinci to order/buy my new NL 10-2. But I put off leaving the house when I saw your post in FB and I had to watch!
Hi Michael H Starks, Hopefully we didn't hold you up to much with our long video. :) We really appreciate you watching and commenting. Congratulations on your new NL 10-2! That's awesome and super exciting. They are so nice! Have a safe trip and happy camping in 2020.
congratulations on the new camper guys. you guys busted your asses on the 1st TC. that rig came out beautiful. you're both very handy folks. i can relate to so much of this video too.we had an a-frame pop-up made by jayco. i too loved that camper but long story short it was a lemon and the dealer wasn't able to fix it after 4 attempts so they bought it back and we purchased a KZ17rbs TT. still have & it's been flawless in the 4 years we owned it. last august we bought an f150 soooo i've been looking at pop-up truck campers that are compatible with the truck. i like the idea of not having to tow a camper also. how do find loading the TC into the truck bed, difficult, easy?? always wondered if it's a PITA or simple once you get used to it. thanksn for the video, i loved it!!
Hi Surfandstreamfisher, Thanks for the comment. I think the pop up truck campers are really cool. Nice and low profile when their down. I have found that loading a truck camper is a little tricky but it gets easier the more I do it. If the ground is nice and level it's not to bad but an unlevel campsite or driveway complicates things a bit. I noticed that loading it in my old GMC was more difficult and I figured out it was because the truck bed open in was about 1.5 inches narrower than my Ram. I have measured the newer Fords as well and they are nice and wide like my Ram so you should be in good shape there. Loading it just takes practice. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! ~ Todd
Just a friendly recommendation . .I have travelled throughout the US, Canada and to Mexico City (4 times) ...Given your single wheel rear and large camper ..please consider "G" series full steel cased tires. The steel case prevents sidewall sway and also are extremely tough, run at 100 psi..it is basically the construction of tractor trailer tires, not squirmish LT tires. ... .they are available in 16" (limited availability, Goodyear, Michelin) and also in 19.5" . You can get rims to fit your rig from several speciality manufacturers including Rickson. If you blow a tire on the front or rear your likey gonna lose control. ...with duals on rear at least you have a back up.....you don't have that luxury. I recently saw a large Artic Fox on a single rear wheel Dodge 3500....it looked like an accident waiting to happen. It was a sunny but windy day, I thought....it's reasonably nice today, imagine a slippery road or in a storm. ... Ask an old timer tow truck operator or a state highway patrol....they'll likely tell you some stories. Your life is too precious.
hey guys, rewatched the video as we're going to be purchasing a NL 8 11 and love watching your vids due to same likes. Listen, on this video you and Carla have a rod above your head on the ceiling above the bed/port/starboard sides, can you tell me what they are? Keep it between the lines and safe travels. And please keep the videos coming. dj/aj ret military currently in NC
Congratulations y'all what a great find. Todd was wondering with your new Ram 3500, I'm curious as to what your Rams cargo capacity is compared to my '15 Ram 3500 lwb witch is 4,150 lbs cargo. Don't think my truck would handle a 10.2 maybe a 9 5 Thanks, Jeff in Al.
Hi Jeff, My truck is rated at 4465 lb payload. However I still added some Timbren's to the back end to help with the sag and sway which they did a great job of. I have a video coming out on the Timbren's soon so look out for that. If you put some Timbren's, Stable Loads, Helper springs or air bags on your truck if would help. I may also check into the Torklift Stable Loads. I think the idea of the Stable Loads basically preloading the leaf springs makes sense. Thanks for commenting and watching. ~ Todd
We really enjoy your videos. We to prefer our fiberglass RV's and currently have and Escape 21. We've been looking at the Northern Lite campers and specifically the 10-2. I'd sure like to hear how you SRW truck is working out. I like the idea of a truck camper but the idea of a DRW truck does not thrill me.
Hi OldstersOutside, Good choice on the Escape 21 we love Escape trailers too. So far the SRW truck has worked out well. We're about to put several hundred miles on it with the camper this week so we'll see how that goes. I'm sure it will be fine however the SRW does need a little extra support underneath to help support the load. My truck is rated at 4465lb payload which is more than enough however I still added some Timbren's to the rear and it help stable the load a lot. They really helped cut down on the sway. I have a video coming out soon on the Timbrens. My old DRW truck did seem more stable but my SRW truck now I think will work just fine. It makes for a much better daily driver in my opinion. Hope that helps. This may be a video topic one day. Thanks for watching! ~ Todd
@@RunawayRoses - I pull my Escape 21 with a Tundra and added the Timbrens, wow what a difference. They really help with handling and just made towing a lot less work. We are looking forward to your future adventures. If you have any plans on coming to Washington State let us know. We live on the Olympic Peninsula which has some great camping.
I'm 6'1 and looking for the height that the 10.2 offers Being single the 9.6 would have the room but has lower headroom. looking forward for your upcoming trips and mods.
I love the Northern Lite Campers but I have to get the newer 10.2 camper. Can’t stand up in the other ones. The older ones are 6’5 inside I looked at one I’m 6’6” had to duck the entire time and was cramped in the bathroom
@acrodriguez34 we'll definitely try to do one in the future. The SRW is still something we're working out but I think it's going to work great for us. Thank you for watching!! ~Carla
@Happy Place Camping if Todd would have had that camper when we got married 8 years ago, we'd definitely still have it :-) Thank you for watching and commenting! ~Carla
@CR we'll keep it for a while, the wet bath isn't completely ideal but it's definitely workable. Our parade has ended, for now. We originally looked at the Bigfoot 10.2 with the dry bath but couldn't find the deal like this one. We camped in it this weekend and are loving it! Thank you for watching! ~Carla
We like them because they are nice and low profile. It all depends on how and where you plan on using and camping in it. They are great for offroading. Thanks for watching!
That is the camper my wife and I want. When she seen your video showing that you have a new one she got that look in her eye. LOL! What I want to know is with the 10.2 what is the towing capacity and the hitch weight that you can put on that hitch? We're wanting to pull an enclosed trailer with our motorcycles.
@Fred Wilson I'm sure that Todd knows that look well, LOL. I will have to get Todd to respond to this because I'm not sure of these specs that you are asking. Thank you for watching and commenting on our videos. We really appreciate you! ~Carla
......if i ever buy a used camper.......hope it's from this couple......might be a couple of yrs though.......since their next ten are prolly already spoken for......lol
@carla ifera LOL you're very nice to say that. We're getting very close to selling our 2005 Northern Lite. Who knows we may buy another fixer upper in the future, so stay tuned. (as a side note, it might be a while though) :-) Thank you for watching!! ~Carla
Todd, you appear to have lost weight. Are you growing your hair longer..?? LOL! Carla, darlin', don't change a thing..!!! I saw, for the 1st time, a 'BigFoot', here in Henderson, NV and thought of 'The Roses'.!! It might have been your old one.?.!!
Hi pjf, Thanks for the nice comment, Not sure if I've lost any weight but I need too. :) The Bigfoot campers are nice who knows maybe you did see our old one. There are more of them out west then here in the east. Thanks for commenting and watching! ~ Todd
@@RunawayRoses How kind of you to reply.. It was the first I have seen and it stood out after following your videos.. Enjoy the new toy and be well..!!
I noticed at 21:42 on this video that you have a VERY long extension on your trailer hitch. How much and what do you haul with that? I know those extensions limit your tongue weight quite a bit. Hope you enjoy your new camper.
@David Wellen I'm going to have to let Todd speak on the tongue weight and specs. I should know more but he seems to have a whole lot more knowledge about this. We went camping in it this weekend and definitely enjoying it. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
We are really looking into getting a truck camper in the next year! How easy and quick is it to offload when you just want to use the truck to go out and explore? We have a 21 foot TT now, so we are used to small spaces.
@Karmon Moosa there is definitely a learning curve when it comes to loading/ offloading them. I think it's kind of like a travel trailer in that you get more comfortable with it over time. Thank you for watching!
I had a 17' tt sold it now 1998 Roadtrex and I enjoy it. There is no perfect rig. I live in FL. were is you location? Maybe I will see you on the road one day.
@manatee we live just north of Atlanta, GA. And, you're correct there is not perfect rig (unless you do a complete gut and build then I might say otherwise). And, yes maybe we'll see you on the road someday. Thank you so much for watching! ~Carla
Hi John Maher, The actual weight per the sticker is 3370 if I remember correctly. The plate on the outside says 3265 lbs. The payload on my truck is 4465 lbs. I still added some Timbren's to the rear of my truck to help support the load and cut back on the sag and sway. They helped a great deal. I have a video coming out on Timbren's soon so lookout for that. Thanks for commenting and watching! ~ Todd
I'm working on my small truck camper from the 80's. Also have 37' travel trailer for wife. What truck do u have 3500 w/8' bed. I have 2500 short bed. Looking ahead for bigger truck camper so I can pull my boat
Hey Ray's Boating and Adventure, We just found and got a used 2019 Ram 3500 SRW. I looked at all brands but I found this Ram 3500 to have the highest payload of all the single rear wheel trucks I looked at. Mine has a 4465 pound payload. But that all depends on the options of the truck. Honestly I kind of miss my dually when it comes to hauling the camper because it would probably be best for hauling the camper and a boat. But if you find the right SRW one ton truck you can do it too. As a daily driver the SRW truck is much better for me. If we traveled full time I would have a dually but since we're occasional campers the SRW has worked out great so far. Hope that helps and thanks for watching! ~ Todd
Congratulations !!!! Enjoy your channel .... we have had our adventurer for almost 3 years and purchased from D &H since we live here ... that are amazing and great customer service ! Follow along on our channel if you’d like ... we try to vlog our family travels as well .
Hi Frayed Knot TV, Thanks for the nice comments and thanks for watching. D&H was really helpful and we really appreciated it. We'll have to check out your channel as well. Have fun and safe travels!
Hi Theresa Passarelli, We sold the Lance and got a Bigfoot truck camper. We love molded fiberglass campers so we decided to change back to one. Thanks for watching!
18:17 "I SEE YOU!" hahahah. How did your truck handle the weight without any suspension upgrades? I basically have the same truck and am about to purchase a new 9-6 northern lite and am wondering how itll do without any suspension upgrades on my 17 ram 3500.
@Darrin Lapua Todd did add some Timbrens which we're working on a video on now. I think this has made a huge difference in stability. He is still fine tuning it though. I think he's going to do some other things and I'm sure he'll talk about those in that video. Funny that you saw me there, I don't even think Todd saw me until after he published the video (and he's the one who puts them together, LOL) Thank you for watching! ~Carla
If you do then keep your eyes peeled for a used one which you can get for so much less (unless you can afford a new one but we couldn't). :-) They are out there, you just have to stay on top of the classifieds. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
@Bill Sprague yes it was unbelievable. We found our 2019 on RV Trader for $29.9k which if you know what they go for you know that is a good deal. As for preference, I would say if you are referring to the Bigfoot truck camper, we can't really speak on that because we have never traveled in or owned a Bigfoot truck camper. We considered the Bigfoot 10.2 dry bath before buying our Northern Lite 10-4 though. We equally love this truck camper like our 2008 Bigfoot 21RB. They are used for different things. Right now we're going to travel with our boat and 4-wheeler so it works better for us for this purpose. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
Runaway Roses I’m leaning toward a Bigfoot 9.4SB truck camper and was wondering if you’d noticed some flaw in the Bigfoot that would be a reason to avoid the brand?
@@BillSprague only the length of the bed and the height of the bathroom. Todd is 6ft and the bed is slightly short and the wet bath area is too short for him as well. That is not a flaw, just how those are made.
Runaway Roses that’s good to know. I’m 6’ and 220# so it sounds like the BF would be a bit tight for me. I’ll check the NL 8.11. I’d go larger but want to stick with single rear wheels. Thanks a lot and happy travels. BTW, Drive it like you stole it, because you did! 🤣
looks like you embrace change.
@@PawwsomeAdventures oh man....🤣 thanks.
I share your affinity for buying campers. Owned pop-ups, travel trailer, fifth wheel, truck camper and now my class C. Even though my class c was new it did not slow me down on working on it lol. Good luck with your newest toy.
Hi RV Habit, At least I know we're not alone in our RV buying habits. :) Happy trails and thanks for watching! ~ Todd
Hi Tim Stevens, It is fun to switch up campers and try something different. Savannah is such a neat place. Thanks for watching and safe travels!
@Tim Stevens hopefully this will hold us over for a while, lol. Those Ameri-Lites are really cool campers. Safe travels and thank you for watching! 😁👍
Todd
Congratulations on you new rig. So happy for you. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for sharing.
@Camper Life thanks!! Hope you guys had fun at the Tampa RV show. ~Carla
Congratulations! I agree more camping and less work! LOL! Thanks for the sharing your experiences!
@Andy W that has definitely become my motto. We went camping this past weekend and it was so nice to just enjoy our camper and not worry about anything. You're welcome, thank you for watching! ~Carla
Congrats and enjoy the new one we are pround of our Canadian camper, see you next time.
@Claude Després thank you! You should be proud of your Canadian 4 season campers, they are NICE! :-) Thank you for watching!
@JC Journey thank you, it was fun to reminisce about them. Thank you for watching! 😁
~Carla
Interesting review of your campers history..Thank you for the video..Have a blessed day..
I can't believe how much room is in that Truck Camper. That kitchen is amazing!
It is very surprising how much room is in it. That's kind of what got us looking the truck campers. Thanks for the comment.
~Carla
Nice trip down memory lane, can’t wait to see the new rig. 👊👍😎
@Bird Man thanks for always watching, we appreciate you.
What a nice couple. Interesting video.
Very cool video guys 👍😊❤️😎🚌🎶🎥🌎 thanks for sharing and safe travels from Birmingham Alabama WDE!!! 😁
@Tom Austin thank you! We appreciate you watching. And safe travels to you as well. ~Carla
~ Todd
You guys are so cute and beautiful. I just placed an order for new casita today and I’m so excited to see it. God bless you all
* I love your first camper...fantastic...life happens with the changes in our campers*
@The Art of RVing we did love it but it was a little cramped for Todd. You're right life happens, we're in a different phase now. Who knows we will return to the travel trailer phase someday, right now we're in the truck camper phase :-) Thanks for watching!! ~Carla
@@RunawayRoses Funny how that is....the chapter of our lives is the camper at the time
Hey its Ron and Cindy from Va.
~Carla
Excited to see the new camper at our next rally.
@Roy Vannoy we'll see you then! Thanks for watching!
~ Todd

@tony thank you! Thank you for watching!
With all your experience in campers you have help me out with my decision on our next camper. Thx
That casita looked perfect and new still
@Mt W thank you, it definitely looked better when we sold it than when we got it :-) That's what we do. Thanks for watching!! ~Carla
Congrats! That’s what I’ll be getting later this year but a 9-6. Going full time once I sell the house. In the process of finding a 1 ton truck now. I have to see if the dealer I’m planning to go to, will deliver but if not, that’s ok.
Hi MadNomadM, That's awesome hopefully you'll love your Northern Lite as much as we do ours. Very exciting! Happy travels and thanks for watching!

Hi guys new to your channel. Came over from the Facebook group page. Saw your post about why did this video do so well. We enjoyed.
@Meant 2 Be RVing thank you so much for coming over. Thank you for watching!
Congratulations.
@anthony pepin thank you! We're super excited about it. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
congratulations on the new camper guys. you guys busted your asses on the 1st TC. that rig came out beautiful. you're both very handy folks. i can relate to so much of this video too.we had an a-frame pop-up made by jayco. i too loved that camper but long story short it was a lemon and the dealer wasn't able to fix it after 4 attempts so they bought it back and we purchased a KZ17rbs TT. still have & it's been flawless in the 4 years we owned it. last august we bought an f150 soooo i've been looking at pop-up truck campers that are compatible with the truck. i like the idea of not having to tow a camper also. how do find loading the TC into the truck bed, difficult, easy?? always wondered if it's a PITA or simple once you get used to it. thanksn for the video, i loved it!!
~ Todd
It was great meeting you at the Florida Egg Rally. Keep the videos coming!
Hi Robert, The rally was fun. Thanks for watching and for your support. ~ Todd
Congratulations on your new camper enjoyed the video
@Bill Blecher thank you!!
Congratulations
@W. A. stewart thank you so much, we are enjoying it. Thanks for watching! ~Carla
@frenchfry farmer thank you for all of your insight, we'll have to check into these things.
@@RunawayRoses Heather at Rickson is SUPER knowledgeable ..ask for her if you call them.
Awesome. Love Northern Lite. Great quality.
@John Maher thank you, yes we are loving it. Second time in it this weekend and it has been so nice. Thanks for watching! ~Carla
Air Bags. I have a Lance Camper. So Get the Air Lift system. You will not believe how it helps...
Hi Robert MacLeod, I may look into it sometime. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
The new Northern Lite looks absolutely beautiful and I can't wait for the reveal video! #RR
@Eddie B thank you, hopefully we'll do that one soon. Otherwise it won't really be a reveal, lol. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
hey guys, rewatched the video as we're going to be purchasing a NL 8 11 and love watching your vids due to same likes.
Don't think my truck would handle a 10.2 maybe a 9 5
Thanks,
Jeff in Al.
~ Todd
A lot of room!
You guys are unbelievable 🤪
Awe, thanks @CrazyRussianChick we really appreciate the compliment. We try, lol but I wouldn't call us amazing. Anyway, thank you for watching! ~Carla

I love the Northern Lite Campers but I have to get the newer 10.2 camper. Can’t stand up in the other ones. The older ones are 6’5 inside I looked at one I’m 6’6” had to duck the entire time and was cramped in the bathroom
Yeah we love the interior height of our 2019 NL 10-2. It feels very roomy. Thanks for watching!
I watch this when I want to go to sleep
Would definitely like to see a video on SRW vs DRW!
@acrodriguez34 we'll definitely try to do one in the future. The SRW is still something we're working out but I think it's going to work great for us. Thank you for watching!! ~Carla

Hi Scott, thank you and thank you for watching! Tell Omaha hi for me its been 25 years since I was there. - Todd
Happy for you. Makes me feel better! I’ve done the trailer parade. Hahahah. Guys where is the tall shower and that. This one may be short lived?
@CR we'll keep it for a while, the wet bath isn't completely ideal but it's definitely workable. Our parade has ended, for now. We originally looked at the Bigfoot 10.2 with the dry bath but couldn't find the deal like this one. We camped in it this weekend and are loving it! Thank you for watching! ~Carla
Love your channel. I found out about you from travels with Delaney.
@@CR10.07 We love them, they are the best!! :-) They are always so nice to recommend other smaller channels and I appreciate them so much.
......enjoyed your vid........great campers think alike.......🙋♀️
Hi Carla ifera, Thank you and thanks for watching!
What do you think of the pop up truck campers?
~Carla
“We’re not afraid of change” 😂
......if i ever buy a used camper.......hope it's from this couple......might be a couple of yrs though.......since their next ten are prolly already spoken for......lol
~Carla
Did you epoxy the cabinets on the Casita? They looked great.
Yes we painted all the doors then covered them with epoxy. It was a big job but they came out great. Thanks for watching!
~Carla
Hi,
Where is the best place to look for good deals on pre-owned travel trailers?
Thank you,
Looking good guys! Can't wait to see the tour video. Was that an F250 that he delivered your camper with? Just curious thanks!
He had a F350 with Timbren's installed to help support the load. Thanks for watching!
I have a Northern Lite! What are those rails in the ceiling behind your head? Not factory that I can tell.
The old owner put those up. There were fishing rod holders mounted to them. Funny but it worked. Thanks for watching!
What is the weight on your new camper? Northern Lite weighs all their units. What is the capacity of your truck?
Hi John Maher, The actual weight per the sticker is 3370 if I remember correctly. The plate on the outside says 3265 lbs. The payload on my truck is 4465 lbs. I still added some Timbren's to the rear of my truck to help support the load and cut back on the sag and sway. They helped a great deal. I have a video coming out on Timbren's soon so lookout for that. Thanks for commenting and watching! ~ Todd
Where did you buy your first trailer that stunk, I looked at the exact trailer for $500 and it stunk so bad I didn't buy it
@robert ruggles it was many years ago in Georgia, I think Todd bought it in 2008 but I'm not 100% certain. I will ask Todd and let you know.
Here's to no more renovations for awhile. (clink)
@This Nomadic Idea Amen and next time we see you, we'll toast to many things :-)
~ Todd
Thanks, mine is 2500 2019, 2200 payload, should have bought 3500. Love my ram. 8' bed?
I may be intrested in the camper when you are ready to sell.
@shaggard12 email us at runawayrosesadventure@gmail.com and we'll let you know when we're ready. We're getting very close. Thanks for watching! ~Carla
No slide(s)? I'll give you 6 months....that's about how long most people keep non-slides when the really start using them. Enjoy!
@TJ M. No thanks! No slides for us. While we do like the ones with slides, I don't really think they're for us. Thank you for watching!
Your wife has very nice eyes. New subscriber.
Thanks I think so too! Thanks for watching.
As far as exterior height which camper was higher off the ground? A big foot or the truck camper while on the truck?
Our Lance had been the tallest truck camper so far. Thanks for watching!
I would have kept the first one
Love your videos! What happened to the Lance?
~Carla
How much did you get for the 2005 Northern Lite? I sold my 2005 10-2 SE right after last Christmas. Really miss it.
@ Son of Dad we sold it for $13,900.
That’s a good price.👍🏻
You're very smart including your wife in your adventures 😏
@David Clark LOL, yes he is very smart for including me :-) We wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks for watching! ~Carla
I really want a bigfoot or Oliver 😢
If you do then keep your eyes peeled for a used one which you can get for so much less (unless you can afford a new one but we couldn't). :-) They are out there, you just have to stay on top of the classifieds. Thank you for watching! ~Carla
I just sold my Host Cascade.
I’m just curios. Was the Northern Lite such a great price that you couldn’t pass it by? Do you prefer Northern Lite over the Bigfoot?
so what gibson do you play?
