Don't know if anyone has suggested this but when covering a casserole with foil that has cheese on the top, spray the foil with Pam or non stick spray to prevent cheese from sticking to foil while baking.
I LOVE this recipe. I have been making this for years but I like it with a whole onion. This recipe is like another take on a tater tot casserole. It is also good to serve it with sour cream on top of it after it's done cooking. Or you can mix in some sour cream into the condensed mushroom soup mixture instead of the can of milk. It's DELICIOUS!
Thank you looks delicious im making in a couple hours. You should consider doing a video to help people fall asleep. Your voice is very sweet and soothing i never felt more relaxed watching your video it was awesome.
I am late viewing this but glad I found it. It looks really good and I appreciate the way you explained the process and you listing the ingredients here (not having to go to another link). Thanks for a great recipe.
Ok so I’ve cooked this twice now and my family and I love it. I added paprika, Italian seasoning along with the seasonings u recommended. I also added chopped bell pepper along with my onions. I also used 4 cheese Mexican blend cheese instead of Colby jack. So delicious
Thanks for the intel on the lowdown.... that looks so good. I also tried it on and had to throw some similar, funky tunes to make it a copy of Dyvonne's casserole! Your style is very easy to follow.... thanks much!
Yvonne, Honey…you say this casserole will easily feed 6. Baby, I have to DOUBLE it to feed my family of FIVE!! Lol!! We are big eaters here in Texas…work hard and take our food rear serious!! God love you, so glad I found you!!
I made this last night Auntee and OMG it was SO good! I shredded my own Colby Jack and Mild Cheddar cheeses and I will be making this about every other week now. Bae loved it!! DELICIOUS 😋 Thanks 💗
Thank you for this easy recipe! I have been looking for something like this and the rest are to involved. You dont over talk and say a bunch of unnecessary things either. This is what I will be making tonight! Thank you again, Oh and I am subscribing...
New subscriber here, this looks so good. I will be cooking this tonight. The meat mixture would be so good over rice. Thank you for this recipe. Be blessed!
Great and simple recipe Ms. Dyvonne! Fantastique! Can't wait to see more! I have 6 mouths to feed, and with inflation, it makes it harder. Your dishes are less costly and oh-so-delicious. THANK YOU ! I got a raise so it is easier. I do all the cooking for the family. Wife doesn't know how to cook. But that is OK. She never learned anything from her somewhat evil mother. :) so I teach her and she is getting better. Helping us make ends meet is appreciated.
I tried my best to make this for my family tonight. It’s in the oven now. The casserole I used is too large and my gravy is too loose. We’ll see if anyone eats it!! I’m new to your channel and I love watching you! I’m 69 and love cooking for my family of seven.
You have many excellent recipes dyvonne. Do you have any recipes for meatloaf, chicken fried steak, Salisbury steak, scalloped potatoes ,lm a subscriber and enjoy alot of your recipe👍💯 from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Hi Perry, hello Canada! Thank you so much for being a subscriber 😊. I do have a recipe for Meatloaf and Hamburger Steak (which is very similar to Salisbury Steak). You will find them on my Playlist under "Family Dinners". No recipe for Scalloped Potatoes yet, but I will share one in the future 😋. Thank you again for watching, I truly appreciate the support!
Hi I cooked my casserole at 375 degrees. Cook 30-40 minutes. Also under the title click on where it says "more", the list of ingredients and information is in the description box for your reference.
That's super easy. Only it needs a lot more spices then what you're using. You're also doing a lot of extra work. There's no need to peel the potatoes. Just cut out the bad spots, wash them good and slice. No need to boil the potatoes first either. You're basically making scalloped potatoes with added beef. Which sounds good with homemade from scratch Garlic bread, a salad and some made from scratch chocolate caramel crescents. Oh and as for the beef and potatoes I'm gonna add a layer of bacon and sour cream in there. And I think make one layer of cheese Provolone and the top layer Mozzarella topping with bacon, fresh parsley and celenteo
Hi Sherrih, I haven't tried the recipe with a different cream soup,..but a good substitute would be cream of onion or cream of potato. If you use ground turkey, cream of chicken would also work. Hope that helps! 🙂
None that I have ever noticed. I usually let it cool for about 10 minutes before I dish it up. My son's have eaten it completely cooled and still goggled it down. 😉
@@dyvonnescookingforthefamil9498 Thank you, I was just curious. I just now cooked my 1st pan. Cooled it about 20 minutes (only because I didn't want to burn my mouth). It is delicious. Thank you !
Hi, I boiled them until they were just barely fork tender. That was about 15-20 minutes. Check them at around 10 minutes once your pot is at a rolling boil to see how they are coming along. Hope that information helps. If your not subscribed yet, I hope you click subscribe! Thanks for watching 🙂.
Hi, I answered on your other comment, but just incase..Cook at 375 and 30-40 minutes. Also click on the description box for list of ingredients, etc. It's under the video title. Click on more.
If you have a lot of drippings from the meat yes. Only about a Tablespoon or 2 of the drippings that come off the meat is fine. Not much more than that. Hope that information helps.
When baking a thicker or double layer casserole like this one it needs more than 12-15 minutes to get hot and bubbly throughout the casserole. Especially in the middle of the casserole. The casserole may be warm, but it won't be very hot (a hot casserole allows the cheese to melt completely in the center). The same would apply if you were making a lasagna from scratch. Although all the ingredients are done, the dish would need to bake for more than 15 minutes to come together properly. Hope this information helps.
Hi Sandy, Thanks for watching my channel. I actually do wash my potatoes more than once (usually), you will see that on my other vlogs. I made this video after a very very long day and wanted to share how I made my beef & potatoe casserole. Although I was lackadaisy regarding that, I hope you enjoyed the video and give the recipe a try. Thanks again for watching!
Don't know if anyone has suggested this but when covering a casserole with foil that has cheese on the top, spray the foil with Pam or non stick spray to prevent cheese from sticking to foil while baking.
Thankyou!!!
Thank you for that!!!😊😅when I thought it wouldn't stick either because if the oil ,butter or cheese!!
just love that you show ingredients before you start cooking
That's the basis to so many variations. You can make it your own with anything you can dream up!

I use ground beef or ground turkey I've never tried ground veal. I think any ground meat should work well though. Hope that information helps 🙂.

Rutabaga along with potatoes, some well drained chopped greens ,dress it up,cut way back on the cheese.

Im allergic to mushrooms can i substitute the cream of mushrooms with something else?
Hi Sherrih,
I haven't tried the recipe with a different cream soup,..but a good substitute would be cream of onion or cream of potato. If you use ground turkey, cream of chicken would also work. Hope that helps! 🙂
Is there any certain amount of time to let this dish cool before serving that affects the flavor?
None that I have ever noticed. I usually let it cool for about 10 minutes before I dish it up. My son's have eaten it completely cooled and still goggled it down. 😉

Do I need to drain the ground beef if using 80/20?
If you have a lot of drippings from the meat yes. Only about a Tablespoon or 2 of the drippings that come off the meat is fine. Not much more than that. Hope that information helps.

Why would you bake this for that long!? Everything is already cooked, wouldn't you just need to heat it though and melt the cheese, (12-15 mix MAX)?
When baking a thicker or double layer casserole like this one it needs more than 12-15 minutes to get hot and bubbly throughout the casserole. Especially in the middle of the casserole. Your voice sounds like you love deeply.
You should rinse potatoes in cold water a few times to wash off the starch.
