I'm 36... and took my 7 year old daughter to the local rink today. I haven't put in lines on since 1997... at the age of 12. I'm hooked again. After 5 minutes it was like I never stopped.
Best times EVER in life...when things were easy, carefree and so enjoyable. i was from a small town that had a skating rink and we had some really good skaters however, a crew came from one of the larger cities around us and BOY!!!! They put all our good skaters to shame...they were MASTERS, they would do all these stunts and master splits with the skates..etc..and it was poetry in motion.
I am 61 now born in 61 we had the most fun back then now we are afraid to come out at night 🌃 to go skating now so please stop the killing so the young kids can have fun like we did back then ☺️ they will be happy again not afraid we need our children to stay alive to grow up like we did and have there family also so we can see our grandchildren have children
My mom, aunt and uncle were all roller skaters. Its such a great feeling. Moving and dancing. Maybe instead of a small room with a key this could work for the young ones
Church I attend used to be a roller skating arena. Gives whole new meaning to holy roller. I tried skating there once but I would’ve been happy just to have two left feet. Good part about it was a cute girl tried to teach me to skate. Ended up holding on to her waist and she pretty much drug me around. Unfortunately it was short lived because her dad didn’t like me much. A cute little strawberry blond named Kimberly.

Oh yeah, y'all takin me back to 1974 - 1985. Was putting out the moves. Never could go backwards, but forward and a lot of fun. Getting the urge to go again. Been 15 yrs though

At the 7:00 mark there's a guy with Blue🥳LED lights on his skates but then he ALSO has them on the sides of his pants too!..👌Pretty freakin cool..💯. Never seen that before 🤷♂️😎
They were super expensive in 80s and the best I got was these skates that were like metal straps with wheels that extended to size of your shoe/trainer and didn't have a toe brake..lol. rinky dink wheels but hey you could still get some speed from them and were great for the everyday street surfaces..
I skated a lot when I was a teenager up to my early 20's. It was an old rink, nothing like the nice ones today. So many that were close to where I live are closed now. The Arkansas Skatium at Little Rock, AR is the closest now. A lot of this video was there at AR Skatium.
I haven’t been on skates since the early 90s. Used to jam skate it sure has changed. I never seen anyone on in-line skates shuffle skate that’s awesome

Ya it’s a skating rink in savoy I just realized but that’s really cool I know used to be on the team Illini speed team I looked up these videos because literally 1 hour ago I was skating at Illini skating rink i know pretty much everyone who works there and the kids on the speed team
Riedell Skates needs to get at least ONE african-american on their website. They currently have no one representing from the black community even though so much has been contributed from the music, style, dance, and overall techniques!! They currently have not a single African-American or Afro Latin represented
