Another great product and video. It's the first time ever that I got a bunch of parts before I got the bike they're meant for. Can't wait to have my Interceptor 650 finally delivered.
Really interested in the exhaust and filter. Can you clear up a couple of points please? The video shows 53 bhp and 55ft/lb vs standard 51.5 bhp and 53.5 bhp. RE's official figure is 47 bhp. Normally you'd expect real bhp to be less than claimed bhp however the graph says "extra fuel" so has the mapping/ecu been worked on? 8bhp over standard is a lot and very worth having on a 47 bhp machine and would put it on a par with an original 850 Commando which (when running) was an awesome machine.
Hi TBP, if the air flow increases with the after market air filter, wouldn't the engine run lean? and is there a way to map the proportion or fuel intake and air?
Hi, Yes works well with standard exhaust and no re map required. but to get the best from this bike you really need to change the exhaust system as it is horribly restricted. if you had to put bike in for warranty you can simply put the stock filter back in, only takes a few minutes. but most dealers are buying these to fit for customers so I cannot see it being an issue.
@@TECBikeParts George may I just say say that I only found your channel/company recently but am very impressed with your content and products and developments. I am thinking of buying an Interceptor and would probably like a blacked out scrambler eventually so it would be like your development bike. Can you recommend a dealer to buy from. I have visited my local dealer but am not a huge fan of this shop and dont mind travelling to a good dealer. Also do you ever sell your ex development bikes?
@@droptuned83 Hi My local dealer M+S motorcycles of Newcastle are a great and long established dealer ,and if you mention me, they will give you a great deal.
I installed the Bandidos Pitstop Belt Drive Conversion Kit and love it. The front to rear sprocket is different and gives more torque but decreased mileage. Would installing this air filter give me better fuel mileage? Also some say when putting high flow air filter on we should run at idle for ten minutes before riding for the ECU to adjust to the air filter. Do you agree?
Hi, I have the Continental GT650 and I have been thinking of installing this filter with the stage 2 cover. However, I live in a country with really strong rainy seasons. Is there any risk to the filter and the engine if I use this configuration to drive while raining or if the bike is parked under the rain?
Hello awesome video, do you need to remap after change exhaust and air filter ? Cause I ask Royal endfield and they told me I lost warranty if I remap....
any co will tell you if you change a light bulb your warranty is gone .. even if its a brake pad ..defect .. any thing to not fix any thing their fault ..
Thanks for the video. Stuart Fillingham's DNA video recommends letting the bike run at tick-over for 10 minutes after fitting so that the ECU "learns" the change and adjusts accordingly. Do you recommend the same procedure?
Since ordering a DNA filter which i look forwards to . I've seen many negative videos on K&N letting dirt in , and damaging engines . Q should I have concerns for this with a DNA filter ?
That's what I was thinking, too. K&N Filters will outperform stock, until their first clean, then they'll run just like the stock filter, then after the second wash you're better off with a paper filter as far as keeping out contaminants. "Lifetime" product that lasts twice as long as the OE part. However, if he's correct about the OE filter being 25-30 bucks, and this one is less than 60, you're better off. I wouldn't go past 2 cleanings before replacing their "lifetime" filter.
Hi George, I'm from Australia and have noticed some pre-detonation when riding at higher altitudes (800-1000 meters) I was running 91 octane fuel at the time but do you think using this air filter would help to prevent pre-detonation by making more air available?? I have also started using high octane fuel (98 ron)
Engines suffer from pre-ignition and/or detonation; there is no such thing as pre-detonation. Detonation typically occurs under high engine loads, in this case allowing even more air into the cylinder will make things worse.
Can't say anything about the 'pre-detonation', but using higher octane fuel on this bike is a waste of money. It wont make any difference whatsoever. In India at least, and I think the specifications are the same across the world for this bike, 91ron is recommended by the manufacturer, and that's more than sufficient. Typically higher octane fuel is needed for engines with high compression ratio, which this bike doesn't have.
Hi, We have checked A/F ratio on dyno with stock and aftermarket silencers, with DNA fitted and all run safe. As with all euro 4 bikes it would be very slightly better with a little more fuel during acceleration and we are developing a fuel device with boosterplug for this bike. But is safe to run with stock map,and bike runs well.
Wrong! The cotton weave vibrates, allowing increased airflow, whilst the lubricant traps dirt particles. This air filter doesn't work the same way a paper element does.
Is there any mileage increase,if yes then how much? I have installed red rooster performance exhaust and planning to install these air filter too will these both together will increase my mileage or not?
If you allow more air to flow into the engine then surely you will need to remap the engine otherwise the extra air will weaken the mixture of fuel and air.
@@georgemilburn6213 Only within very limited tolerances. Manufacturers including RE have to meet tight emission standards and do not account for owners who will modify from standard. Today's motorcycles are very sensitive of changes to exhaust and carburation and your RE will almost certainly need some adjustment to the fueling to prevent engine problems down the line.
@@katana258 to be sure you would need to put the bike on a rolling road and measure the fueling over the entire rev range. See my post above. The standard fuel injection only adjust for very small amounts of changes, not major changes.

not always as the sensor can tell the ecu that more air is passing and thus more gas needed on some systems
Hi, that would be the case with a carb motor but EFI is not the same , as the motor knows what fuel it needs from the various sensor inputs.
