I’m a retired brickie and you talking about being cold just brings back memories of when I was serving my time standing on the scaffold with the east wind howling in right beside the sea no shelter whatsoever temperature just above freezing so we were told to work 55 years later and I can still remember how cold I was I walked about a mile home to try and get my circulation going but no avail thank goodness we had a coal fire in those days instant hot water into the bath and eventually got my temperature regulated, it taught me that only on an urgent job would I stay out in extreme cold weather
Correct me if I m wrong but this feeds houses and used as drinking water from the tank.If so you need to drain the tank and remove the outlets that are not used not just cap as will be dead legs.
First time I've ever commented. Really enjoy your vids. I'm a plumber myself but I work in water treatment and legionella prevention. Installed a few of these. Was just wondering though, why have the old outlets not been capped off closer to the tank? Big dead-ends. I get you probably didn't want to drain it. If we had this job we would also have bene doing a C&D on the tank.
Sadly we always install this booster set in bigger houses in Guildford area my boss loves them. I pretty much hate them, we also use press copper instead of Plastic, but is depense from budget. They good pumps.. as Previous comment heated jacket for this jobs.. You will love it.. I have Makita one and Milwaukee jumper 12v they are life safer.. Nice set up by the way..👍

Shame about the tea water, but at least you won't run out of milk. That's quite a small accumulator for what the pump set is feeding. Working in the cold sucks, if you bang your hands it hurts 10x times as much, lol.
I'm a service engineer, not a plumber. But my work often brings me into various industrial plant rooms. Give me that environment any day. I dunno how you lads do domestic. Great content, this. 🤟
17:52 That had me nervous. I suppose with the temps a person has some extended work time on those fittings. I see too many guys get in a pickle when all the elbows are not on the same plane. I don't envy the rework that will be required when I assume the cast pipe has to be abandoned. Such is life though. Hope things work, and prepare for when it doesn't.
I did find it very bizarre when I cracked the unions to find nothing. Must of been leaking for a long time. I am going to suggest meters to be installed
#P& B QUESTION!!! Is there a reason you used 2x 90’ bends on the top Pitlochry of the pump rather than changing the laser height to slightly higher to allow for zero 90’ bends ??
Worste plumber feeling is coming to a house to seeing an old radiator sprung a leak and they had plush cream carpets it’s was a disaster and they tried to say I did the mess But I took pictures before I started and they tried to get away with the job
Was there a reason why you didn’t fit any unions before the pump set, but watching you use ABS pipe brings back memories to the early 80,s for me, using on machine plants
Did you agree a disclaimer before starting that any damage caused by increase in pressure you wasn’t liable for? It’s like changing a heating system from tank to pressurised ,the old pipes don’t like it 😳I must admit I cringed when I saw you using ptfe 😂
Cpvc is great stuff especially what you got there, is temperature rated for high efficiency boilers as well…idk why you guys don’t use that stuff in the UK to vent boilers…I know you mostly use concentric kits on boilers so maybe that why, cheers mate! Tom from the states. P.S. you guys don’t have any ratcheting pipe cutters or is it too close to the brick for that? That’s some serious plumbing fellas good job!

So first job was install pumps to boost pressure or flow? Then later on you end up installing what looks like smaller water line when the outside swiss cheese pipes fail.. doesn't that make the pump less useful?
We don't fit the abs pipe its always copper , it is more expensive but less likely to burst if it freezes. Easy to work with mostly press fit. most of the fittings on the unit are parrallel threads and had trouble with the joints weeping myself. We have been fitting Lowara booster sets fully modulating pumps with auto changeover.
yes but if one goes the other will be of similar age so you'd just replace both so there wouldn't be much point. you'd also need to worry about another dead leg.
Are not. They are Oreo's. Don't believe me? Ask my girls. When they saw my first herd unloading they knew they were Oreo's. Being fierce debaters they must be right ;-)

Just discovered your channel, new subscriber. Love the intro, guess were from the same generation.

So first job was install pumps to boost pressure or flow? Then later on you end up installing what looks like smaller water line when the outside swiss cheese pipes fail.. doesn't that make the pump less useful?
Has anyone noticed that ball valves often don't open 100%? Is this normal?
When I fitted one I filed a bit of brass off to get it closer to 100%.
Is that glue same as solvent weld for domestic waste pipes? Or is it different stuff for potable applications.
That water was a hell of a colour. 🤮
It’s different for the abs plastic. You also use a cleaner on the file first.
I wouldn't be able to sleep for nights thinking there's multiple leaks from the ABS to the caste 😅
Never would have put pumps on an old cast line in the first place. Job should have been quoted for new water mains also.
Reason to use this pvc pipe other than mdpe pipe?

Why don't you guys just use Loctice? I rarely had Loctite fail. I'm a plumber in Romania, we barely use teflon here.

2.5 Bar!! 35 lb PSI Into cast iron pipe? I’m not surprised you ended up with an irrigation system😂
Isn’t the solvent weld glue Ment to be a different type for the grey abs pipe?
Yes. ABS also has a 24 hour cure time as opposed to PVC which is pressure tight within the hour.

SY on the feed into the booster seems dubious, but are you sure it's not screened CY Cable to the pumps as they are ran off of inverters?
