      Put money down on the MUX today. Demo Tour Mate LSU. They had already put the red Isuzu badge on. I took it as a sign.

    I'm enjoying the videos Nick. I bought a 2nd hand 4x4 MUX recently - I went with a 2015 model as they don't have a dpf and was told by a mechanic friend that their engines are rock-solid. I just wish there were more MUXs with manual transmission in the 2nd hand market. Ended up with an auto but loving it :)

      LowRangeNick 2018 same as yours. just the radio and aircon kept on auto. been driving to qld and back to mel but it hasn’t gone lower than 10 L/100 km. maintained psi at 40 as i felt 35 was too low on highway. done with the first adjustment at 5k at the dealership thinking it would improve but nope.

    Good video bud. Was very close to getting one instead of the DMAX. Must be nice having coils on all four corners, haha. Have to wait the kids are a bit older and I'll trade in the missos car for one. Keen to see how you go with it in the long run.

    👍. Go the Isuzu. U might be the best bloke to ask. You may have mentioned this in another vid. Would you recommend (in your opinion) the Mux for a family of 7. 2 adults 5 children. ? And still do 4 wheeling like you do plus touring? Great vids by the way cheers 🍻

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  ปีที่แล้ว

      The mu-x is a great family vehicle that is good off-road if you do a few small modifications. The only thing that will let you down is the fuel range being only a 65l tank and the payload. Being around 600kg payload, with 7 people in the vehicle and if you modify the car you can easily go over gvm. A gvm upgrade is available but they do cost a fair bit of money to install and comply.

      @@LowRangeNick. Quick reply you must be bored. Lol. Is there enough room / space for 5 kids in the mid & rear seats? Or would the rear seats be a bit cramped for the kids? I would put a long range tank & most likely a gvm upgrade.

    Hi Nick, I fitted a catch can to my 2022 MUX (with 3700k on the odo). I recently noticed that there were oil drops on the concrete where the car is parked (car odo just over 7000k). Checked the drain valve to make sure it was closed - all ok. Checked the catch can and it was choked with oily sludge & water condensation. Have you heard of this catch can issue with new MUX's?? (or any other new modern diesels with catch cans installed) -Any suggestions on how to approach the issue??

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Colin, that's very common for vehicles that do lots of short trips. It's usually just a build up of condensation from the hot oil cooling down and it just collects in the catch can. Just have to clean it out at regular intervals and drain the oil.

    • @colinhatton5421
      @colinhatton5421 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LowRangeNick Thanks Nick - it sems I'll have to check it at every 1000km during it's normal daily drive routine! My other concern now, is that the oil leak appears to be coming from the half inch stainless tube that connects to the bottom of the turbo. If the clogged catch can has caused a seal to fail here, is it a case of just replacing the seal, or is it likely that the turbo may need closer inspection/repair??

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  ปีที่แล้ว

      @colin59 That sounds like the oil leak may be coming from the oil return line off the bottom of the turbo. It's unlikely that the catch can has caused this but it may be a reason for them to deny warranty.

    May i ask why you chose the MU-X over its competitors ?

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some of the reasons i chose the mu-X are they dont have any issues. If you look at all the competition they all have issues in one way or another. Also its size, good fuel economy, good power and torque. Simple but modern. Isuzu have been making great motor vehicles/trucks for a long time and there known for reliability. They have great resale value and super comfortable with all of the creature comforts. Great value for money 😊👍

      I ended up selling it after 6 months. It was too small for all our gear. Used about 18-22l fuel per 100km. And just didnt really end up enjoying it that much so moved on. Really capable 4wd though. The MU-X has everything i wanted and is extremely comfortable, economical and capable as an offroad tourer. 😁 cheers

    How do you compare it to toyota fortuner?

    • @LowRangeNick
      @LowRangeNick  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ive driven a few fortuners at work and test drove a new prado before buying the mu-x. They are pretty similar. The fortuner engine feels a bit under powered. The prado is quieter in the cabin but also costs another 20k haha The toyota 2.8l engines have lots of issues, thats what really turned me off the toyotas. The Isuzu 4jj1 is an incredibly reliable engine and has been around for ages. Also the price if the mux is great! But in the end its up to what you prefer and what you can afford. Best thing to do would be to test drive both and see how you feel about them 😊👍
