The New Isuzu mu-X | First South African Review

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ก.ค. 2024
- Isuzu has introduced its first new model since General Motors' departure from the South African market: a 7-seater Adventure SUV named the MU-X, which is a rival to the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
The MU-X may share its workmanlike 3.0-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine with the venerable KB bakkie, but its a well-specified, practical family vehicle with a pliant ride quality courtesy its multi-link rear suspension.
Can the modernised Isuzu succeed where its now departed cousin, the Chevrolet Trailblazer failed? Ciro De Siena reviews the top-of-range MU-X derivative: the 3.0 4x4 Automatic.

Only watched this for the reviewer. He's one of the best
Honestly I thought I was the only one
This looks modern and I am definitely sure its up for the market, ISUZU made the right choice here
Gosh, that's actually a lovely car. I am an Everest guy, but I have to say this is a sweet SUV. And it's not plastic (don't shoot the messenger)
Won't break.
I have a hunch that Ciro can review a couch and I'll watch it... This guy is really good...
I just love to see the "out takes" at the end. Make a person just feel more connected. Nice review, Thanks
No doubt that this will sell more than the chevy. People respect the brand more for its reliability and will buy this. It just needs to look more appealing on the exterior .
Nikhil Nadasan in the flesh it looks better than the fortuner.. But then again that's not a difficult task.
@@sauberbeast its the same boring design from isuzu. They are not creative at all in looks department and thats their downfall
@@nikhilnadasan6028 can't agree with you there. Both the new kb and mux looks better than most, please do enlighten us to what a 'creative' car should look like
It is a proven and tested reliable workhorse engine. Isuzu should really look at their pricing, I think the R100k overpriced. If they price it right they will sell a lot. Given all the mu-X has, I still prefer the Isuzu kb250D double cab manual, it is just a true Bakkie!
Sometimes, people have different real needs, not wants.
The one and only Ciro.
Thanks for key information provided by you!!
Another very good review by ciro
In Australia and other countries the MU-X is sold with the same engine but it has 430nm torque and a 6 speed auto taken from the Hilux. It baffles the mind why SA can't have the same speck here. It will then really be a much better competitor.
Not from the hilux, but its euro 5 instead of 4 in australia and other countries of which you speak
I keep coming back for the witty humour. Kudos Ciro!
Good review I have subscribed
nice review
Nice review
This guy is the best.
great review as always very informative and i love this car, i would buy it if i had money
Nice review, am sold. Definitely worth looking at. The beeping by the way was because you switched it off whilst in reverse gear.
The base models lack the nannyware and offer more bang for the buck.
My next car, I have the Serengeti now, can't wait!
3:07......lol your reviews are always lit.
Love it I should own 1
Hi guys I love your review please can you do a review on the 4.0 V6 Toyota hilux/fortuner
Please do a Mu-X vs Fortuner vs Everest vs Pajero
Ahhhhh.... The beauty of competition🙂
Bulletproof love mine
In India there is Huge Difference in price of Fortuner and Mux.Fortuner is for 3400 thousand INR but MUX is for just 2500thousand INR. Around 35% price difference.
💯. But I was waiting for off-road drive which never happened
Here in Oz our 3L makes 130kw and 430nm in Euro 5 spec
In Oz you guys get the new 4JJ3 engine which is the same but just updated to make more power. Now we still get the old 4JJ1 which is the previous gen. Apparently the 4JJ3 is coming next year but we shall see
Thks.
Is the Apple Car Play or Android Auto on mux only available in South Africa market ? as all Australian reviews say it lacks of the feature.
I like this channel. He is a very good reviewer... sad many of the cars doesn’t exist in sweden
Volvo dominated lol😂😂😂😂
Very nice vehicle
Please do a review on ANY extended cab bakkie !?!?!?
Practicality and so forth ?
"This engine powered Noah's Ark" - LOL
Nice, it's always awesome to have more options. This might actually be a good alternative to the Fortuner and Everest. I would still go with the Fortuner though,
They are brilliant vehicles. I have a 2016 MUX here in Australia which is underneath the exact same car.
We get a different stereo tho which appears to be worse than this one and is integrated into the dash like most vehicles.
good car
What's a CD player?
@ 1:59 - You say 'independent suspension all round' but you can clearly see a live axle at the rear.
I thought that I wanna buy this car, yet Surprisingly, we can't buy it in Japan, ISUZU only sell trucks in domestic...
And the Fortuner?
Andai aja yang di Indonesia seperti ini
cero!!!!
Needs a rear diff-lock and it would be awesome!
Mantap 👍
thanks for showing us the gear shifter lol
Good vehicle i just think they could do better in the looks department, thats where the Fortuner takes the cake.
Yeah, the front grille is a bit too busy.
has it the same engines as the Grafter trucks the 3 ltr 4JJ1
I am a everest person but it nice 8 out of 10
Seems to be different navigation option from newest Thailand option. Our navigation is worst not the same one as this video.
1:57 Independent suspension allround? Did you look under the thing before saying that?
I think he mistakenly said Independent when he meant Coil springs.
The thing that annoys me is that every South African article that Ive seen since its been launched says it has independent suspension. Its like one guy made the mistake and all the rest are blindly following.
oh really haha. that is a bit silly haha.
I have a 2016 here in Australia. its been fantastic. I need to invest in a rear diff locker and a snorkel and some diff breathers then it will be unstoppable :)
Wait for the facelift
VALLY that IS the facelift.
New model coming out end of the year
VALLY waiting patiently
Joslyn Jade Christie exactly
Will South Africa get the upgraded engine?
Does this car ever come in manual
Independent suspension all round? I think you mistaken...
This is a modern interpretation of the old Trooper/Bighorn. Not sold in the UK for some reason, although their pickup is very popular. Or was, until the last 2.5 twin turbo that contaminated the oil with diesel fuel and the current version which has a very anaemic 1.9 twin turbo.
Huge drawback compared to the Trooper is the very slow [to shift] electric selection of 4wd and low range that can't be shifted on the move from low to high. The Trooper had a manual range lever and a transfer box with synchromesh between low and high. All pickups [and this] now seem to have electric motors that absolutely must have the car at an absolute stop while it whirs its way slowly to wherever. Imagine if you were wanting to make a fast getaway from hijackers but had to actually stop, dead stop, for four seconds to change up the range! It's not acceptable.
Don’t you guys wanna do a stock standard 4x4 off road review.
Why does this remind me so much of the trailblazer ?
Why does the Australian/Thailand...etc Mu-X get 430nm torque and a 6 speed auto from the Hilux and we in SA don't?
Thai models don't get the Euro 5-compliant engine that is being offered in the Australian-spec MU-X.
whats the tank capacity mate?
Jackielene Camomot 65liters
how come you guys have a better infotainment system than philippines
MU-X (pronounced MEW-EX) is the Linux Mint of SUV's: easy, reliable, dependable, trustworthy and a little bland, yes, BUT it is a proven platform, using time-tested technology. Safer than houses. With the roomier, more practical layout, the better warranty and the better price, there's no question about it being the better deal....and the more pliant ride at that. You won't need a kidney belt like on the fanboy appliance alternative. 😊. Let common sense prevail.
The MU-X is nice but the Toyota Fortuner is a much better buy at only a slightly higher price. The MU-X is overpriced by 80k-100k
"Shortlist the new Isuzu mu-x", reviewing the storage bins... You've been watching too much Mat Watson. Or maybe I have?
Stupid question. What's the HDMI port for?
Gi da Costa e Silva I've seen people hook up their gaming console in their car. You can use the HDMI for that.
You can add various things - Mirror your iPhone using the lightning HDMI adaptor - so you could watch TH-cam etc, Android phones using MHL, or connect a Amazon Fire stick, Games console metioned already, or connect a Digital Camera - the cameras usually only have a 3-4" screen, so this is useful. I bought a cable for my Nikon D7000 on Amazon really cheap, can used it to check photos I took. Saves constant zooming in and out. I am sure there are other ways I haven't mentioned.
I like it, just tested the Mitsubishi Pajero sport and oddly these two look almost the same from the second row back, shared components.?
very different.
In my country the Mux and the trailblazer co exist.
Not only in your country, but everywhere
All ports are 5V.
This should do really well, mu-X has been selling incredibly well in Australia. 3.0L in Aus also has higher outputs - something that Isuzu SA can look into maybe? Isuzu SA can in due time also do the mu-X in 2.5dteq guise as well as an X-Rider trim. "Isuzu mu-X-rider?" Also, in China they have an updated interior which looks really good! You should check it out. th-cam.com/video/IPCDVzAwh4Y/w-d-xo.html
What the hell are you going to plug an HDMI cable into your car for?
I just think it can't beat the Fortuner. The Fortuner at least looks modern and it looks better built. Somehow the moox appears cheap and outdated. They could've priced it better.
What about the Everest?u only mention the fortuner just like you did when u drove the x class you only did the Nissan,vw and Toyota u have something against ford boet
Good but it wont beat the legend FORTUNER
These couldn't have sold very well. I have not seen one on the roads at all.
Looks like a Chevy trailblazer from the side. Still would have a fortuner though.
They shared chassis but Chev/Holden went with their own driveline components and different front panels etc.
Yep fortuner is better for me as well or pajero is a rather good buy
If you a real 4x4 enthusiast, then you need the diff lock. Toyota is in a different league, Isuzu should not price the same, it's like shooting yourself in the foot.
Looks like a Chevrolet Trailblazer!
They shared chassis but Chev/Holden went with their own driveline components and different front panels etc
Chevrolet has sold various rebranded Isuzus in the past.
It looks like a Fortuner. My opinion
Here at 3 views
Viper86 cool story bro, please retell..
Congratulations
96... I was late for the party
rather a trailblazer
Will not sell well... poor dealers that struggle to keep door open.
So hot! 💕 I mean the reviewer. The car is ok though. 😁
Now for a tow test between all the bakkie based SUV's
Is still low in sell
Yes Android Auto is not available in South Africa!
Moox
🤣🤣 over R600k. Isuzu and it loud engines
I can sense the undercurrent of sarcasm in your review.
This is the same interior as in the D max looks cheep and old fashion.
Front looks hideous
Rest of the styling is just normal
Doesn't have diff lock
Interior looks really cheap
And then it has the engine of a dinosaur which is 15 years old
And It's already old in other countries and due for a replacement so it's launching a generation older
Ahmed Moosaji probably testing the market before they decide if they will bring the new generation.
Pajero Sport has an 8 speed AT with a more powerful, quieter engine
Literally means it is very slow 😂😅😆
No rear diff-lock?! I had a go in the similar Chev Trailblazer, whicjhalso had the stupid and useless rear LSD (Limited slip diff), which is useless off-road!
The Fortuner, Everest, Pajero Sport and even the Mahindra Scorpio (Eaton Auto locker) features rear diff-locks, which make them off-road credible. The Isuzu MU-X has this useless rear limited slip diff - so beware if you want to do off-roading - the Isuzu would let you down, just as the failed Chev Trailblazer did. But, Isuzu bakkies (comes with diff-locks) are king!
Compared to the Chevrolet and Everest. ....this is good. .......not even a chance against the Fortuner
Quite right no live axle. 5 link coil suspension rear. still awesome ride. tks for pointing out the error. All offerings in the segment are great. mu-X is R15k less expensive with better Warranty and check out the power to weight ratio vs competition.
The exterior looks it’s so outdated...I love Isuzu but I’m disappointed with the design 🤔
Did you seriously look for a CD PLAYER IN 2018???
The Toyota Fortuner is the best s u v and it looks like super cool and it looks sporty and I think Isuzu he's not spotting and it's not cool at all.
Hahahaha you're fortuner is a shitty car design and styles dont matter fool fortuners engine is not good though only runs on timing belt but ISUZU has a timing gear and chain which is steel and stronger than any SUV's out there.....
Now I know why Isuzu isn't sold in North America. That thing is hideous.
But it's very ugly... Great review though.
it looks more like a fortuner. replica
shepherd marufu haha lol which part?
@Kyle Reese Agreed, even the Fortuner is still popular. Until now, the current Fortuner still have the 3rd row seats that fold up into the sides rather than folding into the floor. The mu-X and its competitors offer 3rd row seating that fold into the floor.
Surely reliable but it's super ugly...
Wold OliviO like you
Wold OliviO I agree
Wold OliviO not worth that reliblity rather get pajero or fortuner they are 10X better Nd still reliable
Yeah isuzu needs to be more creative with their design language. Extremely good brand but their design and lack of upgrades are their downfall
I will not a fuck pay 600K for this scrap.
Ugly at the back
Yasis, that interior was made so ugly yoh.
