It clearly shows that vaccine effectiveness in the over-40s is now hitting as low as minus-53% for those in their 60s. Yes, that is MINUS 53% - which means that, on this data for this age group, the double vaccinated experienced a 53% higher reported infection rate than the unvaccinated in the past month. That is a fact. Also, google "30 facts you NEED to know: Your Covid Cribsheet" (without the commas). This article lists, in one place, all the counter-arguments you need to stand your ground.

My friend and about a dozen of his colleagues caught Covid at a conference recently. I guess as they were all double-jabbed that was frightfully bad luck.
Everyone where I work are coughing there guts up at the minute. All of them double procedured. Let's hope its not covid.

There is no logic to what Dr English is saying, which is basically get jabbed because we say so, irrespective of whether you have natural immunity as a result of recovering from COVID or not. Getting the vaccine is a personal choice. I chose to get double jabbed, but understand why some individuals would choose not to. It amazes me how little attention is given to natural immunity, Antibody tests that establish whether one has such immunity should be freely available under the NHS.

The 1 in 20 figure is across society. When you break it down, the majority of that group are still the over 65s and increases with things like obesity and comorbidities. The reverse is true: and these dancers are all in the so small risk (risk of any level of harm, not death) that it is essentially negative.
This doctor is arrogant, dismissive, and authoritarian. I bet we've all met doctors like him in the NHS. His true motives are clear when he says about inconvenience. It's not about saving lives, so he should mind his own business.

Since we all care so much about "protecting the NHS" then maybe we should mandate all aspects of healthy living, no?
Why should I, someone who has lived a healthy lifestyle and has confidence in my body take a risk so that the people demanding I get vaxxed can continue to drink, smoke, eat junk food, do drugs, don't get regular exercise or enough sleep and live like slobs?
Many don't seem to get this. Your health and wellbeing is your responsibility, not mine or anyone else's - take personal responsibility for your own health and manage your own risks.
Or maybe we should all just get vaxxed and then we can say, any time someone gets injured or ill due to poor choices - you don't get access to treatment or services? My wife and I got COVID a few weeks back. I have had one jab and was a bit rough for 2 days. The wife has had two jabs and was in bed, quite ill, for 4 days.
