- Julia Hartley-Brewer has clashed with the Transport Secretary over a promise he made in January to join her “on the barricades to get our freedoms back” once the over 70s had been vaccinated.
Speaking on her talkRADIO breakfast show, Julia asked Grant Shapps MP when he would fulfil his promise: “I want my civil liberties back that are mine by right. Your government has stolen them from me and 67 million other people, and you promised you would be on the barricades with me and everyone else if we didn’t get our freedoms back once the vaccine was rolled out. That was not true was it?”

It’s a total disgrace how the politicians are treating us. If we were in this position last year with the level of immunity we now have, we would never have gone into lockdown at all.
Does anyone remember that the only reason for the lockdown in the first place was to prevent the NGS from being overwhelmed. There is no chance of that happening so why are they moving the goalposts?

It was never a high risk virus even BEFORE the jab. Now that the over 70s have been vaccinated it’s no doubt been reduced from a 1% fatality rate to a 0.5% fatality rate or even lower ! So by no means as deadly as flu, a virus that we’ve never locked down for.

Our civil liberties have always led to the deaths of other people. It's something we've never thought about before, but it's a truth. People have always spread illnesses that have gone through a chain of transmission that has resulted in the death of an old person. To hear from this man that he wants us to have our civil liberties back, but not at the risk of us killing someone, fills me with fear, because it essentially means we will never go back to what we were before; masks will always be present, social distancing will be expected, and this will be our new normal.
