Saw them last year in Seattle opening for Apocolyptica, absolutely agree. Hope to see them as a headliner some day, the set was a great taste, but not long enough!
Suggest to find the video of the concert they did in London back in 2019, called 119 show. The quality of the video and audio is professional and Cristina’s voice is incredible. You can find some excerpts also on TH-cam ‘til they last.
Saw Lacuna in 2003 opening for Type O Negative. HOLY SH!T they were incredible!
Got to hang with her after their set. She was so nice and so humble. She couldn't believe the crowd was singing along with her. She looked like she was about to cry. She was so blown away. It was such a good concert!
I saw the Delerium tour in 2016. When they performed House of Shame it was jaw dropping. Her voice was even better.
I ADORE Cristina. I first discovered Lacuna Coil when I was around 13 (21 years ago), and I was so amazed by their music and I *still* listen to them today. Definitely one of my all-time top favorite bands, and I'm glad Lacuna Coil is still here and still making music today.
I was about to type "Lacuna Coil didn't exist 21 years ago." and then the realization 21 years ago is 2002 hit me
I discovered Lacuna Coil during the end credits of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Lacuna Coil is one of the most consistent metal bands. Every album is super melodic and memorable.

That's amazing how one of the greatest female voices in history of metal have never thought about being pressured into certain style. That shows a true class of Cristina. And equally amazing is how a world class opera singer managed to become probably one of the most prominent metal influencers just by having fun with new genre of music. Just awesome!

I met Christina many years ago when they played in the Rosetta Bar in Belfast. They had to cut the gig short because Andrea tripped over the drum riser & hurt his shoulder so badly he couldn't sing. Christina & the rest of the band came out & spent ages talking to the fans after they finished playing. It will also please you to know that i'm playing a Dungeons & Dragons computer game while listening to this :)

Anyway, I’ve been a fan of Lacuna Coil since the early 2000’s and have always been a fan of Cristina’s voice and sound. Since finding her on social media…it’s just crazy how grounded and down to earth she is. I am so glad this interview finally happened and always look forward to new material from this band and this amazing person.
“The Ghost Woman and the Hunter” and “Falling” are tracks that always bring tears to my eyes. They tell amazing emotional stories and her voice has such feeling in it, it’s not hard to believe that pain.
Overall…this interview had me geeked and I’m so glad this opportunity came about for you to sit down and speak with her.
Really looking forward to this interview. Been a fan of Lacuna Coil for a long time, and Cristina is just an amazing person.

I discovered Lacuna Coil 20 years ago, and immediately fell in love, but now that I have a little more musical maturity, I can understand the band a little more, and I appreciate and love them even more. I still haven't seem them live, I wish someday my wish will come true. They're a factory of good songs.
Cristina is so awesome to speak with. She loves stuff like Star Wars, Breaking Bad, Horror films, so much geeky stuff!

That was an absolutely fantastic interview, Elizabeth! Cristina is such an awesome person, and seeing this pop up today was a great surprise to see. I knew she was a big video gamer but had no idea she also played D&D, too! I'm rather amused that her preferred class is Barbarian 😁. I was already a big fan of her, but having watched this, it's pretty much cemented in. How could you not absolutely love Cristina?
Would she also be a Warhammer 40k player?
Yeah, her work on Ayreon's "The Theory of Everything" was awesome. She brought a lot to that album. I'd head Lacuna Coil prior to that, but it wasn't until I heard that album, that it really hooked me. That was a very good collaboration.
It's funny, I'm generally familiar with the artists Arjen works with before those collaborations. When a new album is announced, I go through the line-up and see who's going to be on it. You get that little endorphin rush from seeing those names from people you've listened to for years. It's like instant validation, if someone I listen to makes the cut, it means I have damn good taste, lol.
Honestly, when I saw Christina listed on that album, my initial reaction was... "Where have I heard that name before?" It didn't jump out at me, but I knew there had to be something there if she was on the album.
Then when I heard her on that album, it was more like "Oh Shit, I've been missing out by not listening to this band". I went back and got a few albums from Lacuna Coil, and now I'm hooked. There's just so much new stuff coming out on the metal scene, it took that extra push to really get my attention, but I'm glad it did. She's an amazing vocalist, and has a very unique sound.
Cristina is hands down one of the best vocalist in music. LC are an awesome band. But jeez, imagine queuing up a game on PS5 and getting her as a teammate. I would be so star struck. Such a beautiful human being.
Just play it cool, be accepting without fanboying all over the place. Remember that she's a regular person who's made her bones singing on stage with heavy metal musicians, who just happens to be an Italian enchantress.

Having never made it as a Alternative /Metal singer due to becoming disabled, and now facing the fact that I will never make it at 54, having to look at giving up my dream. I wanted so much more, but being a single father made things so hard to move forward . Maybe in the next life, Lol! Love your content. It helps to feed the soul, and love your reactions to different genre of music especially Metal!

Lacuna Coil is one of few bands my gf (wife now) independently loved before we even met in the early 2000s. They were one of the many things we bonded over the years and we are eternally grateful. We've seen them a few times live, I think their lineup now is better than it ever has been. Thanks for being awesome. \m/

Awesome interview! I have spoken to her over interviews, meet at shows, and over twitch, extremely engaging with her fans, and funny and kind! She engages with her fans, from Twitch to IG. I knew about them when I got into Metal, and when I saw them live it blew me away. When you can see a live performance and enjoy it more, that is true art!

Great Tea Time Interview! Both you and Cristina had such a natural flow of conversation it almost didn't seem like an interview but rather two people building a friendship. The topics were interesting and I enjoyed it.

I loved listening to them geek out about both music and games. 🤣 I thought it was interesting how despite having different backgrounds and personalities, Elizabeth and Cristina (and myself really) think similarly about certain things. Felt like one of those celebratory human-sameness moments while watching.

Can it be Friday already! Been a huge fan of LC Since 2007 & over the years my appreciation for the band, their music & lyrics has grown immensely. Your discussion of the song Swamped is one of the best.
cristina scabbia is such a cool person and awesome singer ... great interview too, elizabeth is such a great interviewer. I wonder, if cristina knows asami and allfemale metalband lovebites (cause these are for sure one of the best metalbands of today).
She mentioned the band Paradise Lost three times in this interview… they are kinda low-key legends that are credited with “inventing” the Gothic Metal genre, and also pioneering in the doom metal genre.
They have had a long career, and are known for good songwriting, and their evolution. There is a reason Cristina and Lacuna Coil are so influenced by them. When she said that she listens to “sadder” music when she is sad, anyone who is in the know and hears that instantly goes “she’s talking about Paradise Lost, very likely”… and also when she said “metal is also melody”.
Discovering Paradise Lost is not like discovering any other band. You would like them. They have “some” Metallica-feel to them at times (James Hetfield) is a fan I’ve heard.) But they have also done a lot of different things. They were one of the first to start mixing metal with electronic beats… if you ask Cristina, she will tell you just how important and influential they are, and have been to almost ALL the metal you have come to love (not including metal bands from the eighties and backwards of course)…
They are like one of the music industry’s best kept legendary secrets. Discovering Paradise Lost makes SO much else in metal today fall into place. You wouldn’t believe how many acts who are way “bigger” than them consider Paradise Lost to be “the quiet unsung heroes, in the corner”. I can guarantee you also, mental health wise, their musical has probably helped countless people… few bands lyric wise so deeply reflect the human condition with an insightful honesty that makes you really think.
I still can’t believe Elizabeth had this teatime interview with Cristina Scabbia for over an hour. So cool!

But I hope that you do know that your voice is just...INCREDIBLE. Truly one-of-a-kind. I do hope that, somewhere inside, you're able to give yourself some recognition for your gift. The passion that you put into it is completely evident and your voice is one of a few that have helped me through some very difficult times. That kind of energy in music has been a great source of strength for me. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for that, too.

This is the BEST teatime video EVER!!! I actually currently reside in Italy, and have been looking forward to finding a way to catch Lacuna Coil on concert someday before I must sadly say goodbye to this place. Lacuna Coil has quickly become one of my top 3 favorite newly discovered by me bands.

Same, and same. Discovered them 19 years ago during the U.S. release of the Comalies album. Bought all of their earlier albums, EPs, and singles immediately. Bought Karmacode at its release 2 years later. Cristina has been my favorite singer of any genre ever since. She just has such incredible & beautiful range of sound.
