Yeah, that's by far the best album. Made me a Blind Guardian fan when it came out, and I was only 11 years old back then :D But it was a great fit, because I was also reading the Lord of the Rings at this time.
I met Hansi in 2009. in Serbia. They played a great concert and he stayed to greet literally all the people, like 700 of us, personally and talk a bit with everyone, at least to say hello. One of my favorite singers and people I've met in general.

Oh boy, this sentence... 25 years just got me thinking... I'm one year behind with 24 years of BG fandom... hell... just booked tickets for the "The God Machine" in late September '23 with an old friend who got me into BG way back when...^^ And a huge thanks to Mrs. Zharoff for doing this long and deep interview! (and geeking out^^) Best regards Raoul G. Kunz
Dude yes! I first heard the "Somewhere far beyond" when i was like 14 or 15 or so in the early 90s in a School Bus, when a friend had a Discman and 2 Sets of Headphones, and a new CD🖤🖤🖤🖤
I met Hansi at a hotel in Fortaleza 7 years ago. Blind Guardian went there for the Beyond The Red Mirror tour. I was in the hotel lobby, waiting for the band members, when Hansi appeared. I was almost losing sight of him, I called him at least three times, and then he heard and came towards me. He said "hey", from that moment we chatted for a bit. I remember he promised me that it would be a great night, and it really was. He is a very good and very kind person. We love you, Hansi! ❤
Hansi is not only very approachable and talkative but he has that common man demeanor that makes him super easy to emphatize with! Being honest and open about his struggles, specially on how he prepares and deals with perfoming and touring, so cool. Elizabeth, it's amazing to see how you developed such credibility and respect in the metal community! Your interviews are already SO MUCH BETTER than any metal media right now! Your demeanor, excitement and PREPARATION, how you study your guests to ask interesting questions, that's what's up!! You're amazing!!! Keep going :)
Hansi once got on Stage for the 30 year anniversary of the band "Rage", where I stood in the first row... collapsing from a week of beer and 40C°... the last thing I heard was his voice and than i woke up in the First Aid Tent... and than the nurse realized it is my birthday, so they all sang me the song... god that was embarassing... BUT: I made it onto the live DVD, and now as time has passed, i have a funny story to tell XD Gotta love Wacken ^^*

Many people think of him as "that guy that didn't win American Idol" or from Queen, and he is outrageously underrated. Hansi and Blind Guardian were a revelation for me. As an already devoted Tolkien nerd at 8 and a Nightwish fanatic at 9 (in 1998) both Tolkien and Power Metal were huge driving forces in my life, and when I discovered Nightfall in Middle Earth as an early teen it was like discovering the holy grail. Hansis voice is perfect for any fantasy music and he is truly THE bard of metal. A master of his craft.
Christmass came early this year. Hansi is a true modern bard. He is an incredible singer, but his better trait is how good of a storyteller he is. I am so baffled that you did so much preparation. That really sets you apart from most interviewers. And much respect for interviewing a (criminally underrated) German singer.
I grew up listening to Blind Guardian, and I've never seen a Blind Guardian cover band with vocals with the power of Hansi. Mirror Mirror live is my favorite. Hansi is old school metal...
How did I miss this Tea Time?? My favorite singer, my favorite band...my first concert and first autograph. What a sincere musician, no wonder Hansi is repeatedly named as the most wholesome metal singer by so many people. It's so cute when he speaks English and not German. His accent is so strong, crazy how he can sing without any accent. Thank you so much for doing this interview, it was absolutely lovely to sit down with some tea myself and listen to your chat
BG is one of my all time favorite bands. They are so good at what they do. Hansi is an incredible person. If you can see them live, don’t hesitate- they are incredible in person. Thanks for this, it was very nice to hear such a conversational interview about many aspects.
Can't wait for this! Blind Guardian has been my doorway into metal and is still my favourite band. :) I loved all interviews I've seen with Hansi, he seems to be such a down to earth dude.
What a great interview! I enjoyed every second of the 2 hours… I live only 20 minutes from BG hometown, so I know Burg Linn, the castle Hansi talks about… they have awesome medieval markets and events there! Thanks and greetings from Germany! Merry Christmas 🎄👍🤘
Some nostalgia - just found old picture of me - 14-years old in "Somewhere far beyond" t-shirt sitting on the sofa with some fantasy book. I'm 38 now)) Ok, Sanderson is nice, but so soft, so black&white. Too bloody epic for me) Hope that someday i'll hear some Guardian song based on Joe Abercrombie books)) I'll be soooooo happy)
Hansi a legend! He was writing songs about Middle-Earth in the 90s, BEFORE the movies came out. We read BOOKS in those days, lol! I saw BG and Iced Earth together back then and it was the best show of my life 🙂
That is so true. I started listening to BG when Somewhere came out, and I saw the titles and gorgeous cover. Being a Tolkien lover and RPG player already then, it was a no-brainer. And how rewarding it was! Saw them first time on the Imaginations tour and was completely blown away!
I could have listened to you for hours and watched you talk to each other enthusiastically about music, books and nerd stuff. Hansi is such a likeable, unagitated person without star airs. And a voice that you recognize again and again.
I love this interview so much, this was so relaxing to watch, because both of you somehow have a calming presence and a very calm way of talking. 😊 Blind Guardian was one of the first metal bands I listened to when I was a kid and just discovered metal. I'm from Germany as well, so of course they were one of the first bands I found in that genre and being a huge fantasy fan, I loved the themes of their music of course. Back then I dreamt about getting to see them live and to be part of the "audience choir" singing The Bard's Song with Hansi one day. This year this dream finally came true and it was such a magical moment. My inner child/young teen came through and was so so happy to be experiencing this! ❤️✨ Also I'm just fascinated by all the things Hansi had to tell here. He has been doing this for more years than I'm even on this earth and he has so much to say, so much experience and he said he is STILL learning new things. He still has particular things he is studying and learning and trying to improve. He's so passionate about singing and music, so interested in the techniques and so dedicated to his craft and he's doing all this while finding ways to do it with his different health struggles and finding ways around those. This was absolutely inspiring to me! Thank you so much, Elisabeth, for doing this interview and sharing it with us. ❤️ I lost touch with my own singing for a while, partly because of mental health struggles, but I hope to connect with that part of me again. And this interview definitely inspired me to try and begin that journey again. Thank you again, Elisabeth and thank you for sharing your wisdom and experience with us, Hansi! 🙌
I've only known about BG for like 5 years now (I'm only 19, cut me some slack) but they have got to be one of my favorite bands of all time! Hansi seems like such a treasure and a good man

I'm coming to São Paulo - Brazil next april for the Summer Breeze Festival to watch Blind Guardian! It's been a long time I've been waiting for that. Great interview!!
A great interview, thanks both to Elizabeth and to Hansi! In my opinion, “Blind Guardian” have one of the most consistent discographies in metal. There are, of course, some albums I like more, but they are all at least good, not a single one that I dislike. “God Machine” was great. I was at many great shows (Maiden, Scorpions, Rage, Amon Amarth and Tarja, to name a few), but Blind Guardian show was my favourite. My voice was completely gone for a few days after singing along to them 😂
Hey Elizabeth and Hansi, I am very happy about your interview. Got a lot of questions answered that I have been carrying around with me for many years. My own start in my music life connects me with Hansi Kürsch and Blind Guardian. Through my grandparents I was introduced to folk music and classical music and on the radio there were many different directions. One evening in 1992 I lay awake for a very long time with my then 12 years and turned on the radio, where Ecki Stieg's Grenzwellen on Radio FFN was playing. There I heard "The Script for my Requiem" by Blind Guardian and was immediately in love with it. Enthusiastic about this music I started to search and my metal life began. 😃
BG are my favourite band since 23 years, i fell in love with them at 14 years old, they're amazing and the voice of Hansi is one of the most wonderful voices in the world
Titan Hansi, simply TITAN! Elizabeth is so clever that her brain abilities help her be open to all kinds of music and give chances to genres that many people consider simple unapproachable. The diamonds that she has discovered in metal music these last years... oh my God.
I remember asking for this interview (I‘m sure I wasn‘t the only one). Thank you so much for actually doing this! I’m a big fan of BG and It was really interesting to hear what Hansi had to say. Also I now know which books I‘ll have to read in the future :)
What a great interview!!!Dear Elizabeth, I always new Hansi, Michael Kiske, DIO, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford etc. are amazing singers but thanks to your excellent analysis now I know exactly why😀 Thank you for providing us so professional opinions about my favorite musicians. You are great!!!
Blind guardian has been my fav band since I was 14 years old and now Im 37...truly a amazing band! Please do "the eldar" ...its amazing with hansi and only piano
Oh no way! This is so cool to see. Hansi was the entire reason I got into metal in the first place and remains my all time favorite vocalist. Was really hoping you’d get a chance to talk with him directly eventually, but I didn’t actually expect it to happen!
I wish I could give this a 1000 thumbs up. Such an amazing singer and my childhood hero. And still a massive influence and source of inspiration. Thank you so much for this for you both! ♥️
😱yes yes he mentioned "Sacred Worlds"! 😭👏🤘🤩 This is a beautiful video in so many ways informative and human moments from such superhuman vocal heroes. Bravo
great interview !!! Been an fan of you since mid 2015, and the band since 1989 bought the demo on an metal concert from an metal head been an fan ever since.
Excellent interview! I loved to hear Hansi talking about story telling and how much grew as a singer and frontman throuthtout the years. I have some of Blind Guardian albums and, I just bought the new one. You are great Elizabeth! Thank you very much.
Hard to believe that I've been a fan of Blind Guardian for 20 years now. I fell down the rabbit hole with Into the Storm and I've loved them ever since.
I was JUST thinking how absolutely incredible and solid Blind Guardian is ♥️ I was just singing them about an hour ago!! This sounds absolutely delightful.
this was a great interview. Me as German metal fan, I love BG. But I always took it for granted how great he sounds but knowing now how much he works and put into it, I find it even more impressive. If you ever have the chance to see them live do it, it is an experience for sure. thanks for this very eye opening video!
The best talk, interview, whatever this has been, EVER. Thanks a lot. I don't speak English, but I understood everything you said. Merry Christmas from Argentina
Hansi and Blind Guardian were with me since I started P&P-RPG about 30 years ago. Blind Guardian was the soundtrack of sooo many adventures before there was ambient music. THANK YOU!! Why don't you two make a duet? ;)
Really love that you took this interview, seen this band live three times! I strongly encourage you to do another Blind Guardian review again as the one you have is lovely but there's so much audience participation that you don't get a chance to hear the voice and critique it as much. The Curse of Feanor is a personal favorite of mine and goes over a very critical point in the Middle Earth universe and the song does such amazing justice to the gravity of Fëanor's oath and the cursing of Melkor renaming him Morgoth. I'm a huge Tolkien fan and I am so grateful for a band as talented as BG with a singer with the power of Hansi's voice who rivals the likes of Bruce Dickenson from Maiden! Truly an amazing band! Also a huge SOAD fan and loving that content recently. Prison Song should be next! It is the penultimate SOAD song that has incredible vocal complexions (which one doesn't?!) And it really epitomizes the political/social beliefs and commentary that SOAD so accurately expresses through lyrics.
I love his dedication to the band "I can't do a solo album because if any of the songs are really good it must go to Blind Guardian". That's how you wish every rockstar would think.

great interview and you realise how wonderful is to discuss with Hansi
Titan Hansi, simply TITAN! Elizabeth is so clever that her brain abilities help her be open to all kinds of music and give chances to genres that many people consider simple unapproachable. The diamonds that she has discovered in metal music these last years... oh my God.
What a cool video 🤩 thanks Elizabeth, danke Hansi . All the best wishes for 2023 from Xanten , germany 🤘
Blind Guardian was great live! Loved show in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Hansi has a godlike singing voice. When I first heard fiddler on the green, It shattered my soul. So much❤. Thank you Hansi!
Mr Hansi and the lads are legends. Glad to see the interview and learn more about him.
The best voice, an amazing human, and such a wonderful subject for an interview.
Absolutely amazing interview. Just when i thought i couldnt love BG anymore than i could, the humbleness and his perspectives. It just elevates
😱yes yes he mentioned "Sacred Worlds"! 😭👏🤘🤩 This is a beautiful video in so many ways informative and human moments from such superhuman vocal heroes. Bravo
Blind Guardian is one of my favorite bands of all time.
Whoooo Hansi, cant wait to watch the interview. Tea is at the ready, lets go! :)
Damn, can't wait for this one. Hopefully Elizabeth asked him about his distortion technique
great interview !!!
Thank you and Hansi so much for this interview - I absolutely loved every minute ❤
This will be a blast I can already foresee. CANT WAIT TO SEE!
@TheCharismaticVoice I hope I tagged you right. I won?
@@maggiekelley259 No, this is a scam Account and has nothing to do with Elizabeth!
@@DrGonzo1171 That’s why I tried to tag The Charismatic Voice ♥️
Happy Holidays, Elizabeth. looking forward to a year of your reactions to great performances!
this was a great interview.
Huge fan of BG and always enjoy watching review from The Charismatic Voice. Great interview 👍 👏 👌 🙌.
Great interview. Very throughout and well thought out. Liz, you did a great job doing research.
So I finally found the time to listen to this interview! Really looking forward to it!
Hansi and Blind Guardian were with me since I started P&P-RPG about 30 years ago. Blind Guardian was the soundtrack of sooo many adventures before there was ambient music. THANK YOU!!
Why don't you two make a duet? ;)
Oh my god I can't believe I didn't see this until now! You got the singer from my all time favorite band! Soooo excited I love Hansi's singing.
Awesome Elizabeth🤘🏻 Hansi is one of my fav singers and Blind Guardian is one of my fav band as well. Thank you for the great videos 👊🏻
I now see a BG was posted in tandem, so awesome!
Wow, i'm shocked by his german accent. This man, his voice... Incredible, absolutely otherworldly.
Wow! It's so awesome! Thank you for this interview! :)
I usually don’t watch too many of these but I saw Hansi and clicked immediately ❤️
Love seeing Elizabeth having such a good time talking about music and fantasy.
