Yesss! Please do an interview ("tea time") with Elizabeth!
Lacuna Coil has been my favorite band ever since I first heard it on a Polish metal station in 2004. I'm stateside, in the U.S., but was searching for new (to me) & better metal than I was hearing on U.S. rock stations. So on that Polish metal station I first heard "Swamped".
      It blew me away!
Within a few weeks of that, I bought each of Lacuna Coil's albums, EPs, and Singles released up to that point. I had to import some of the CDs back then.
I've introduced your music to many family, friends, coworkers, etc. over the 19 years since! Nearly everyone has been blown away by how amazing your band's music sounds. The band members' skill at your live shows is very, very good too. It's relatively rare to see a band where their live performances are on par with, or even better than, the studio recordings. That shows serious skill and your band definitely has that!
Definitely, keep on rockin, for the fans! 🤘

Hey Cristina. A couple of fun facts… I will turn 70 this year, so I am guessing I am at the upper fringe of your fan base. Also, weirdly, I discovered LC many years ago as a chance byproduct of Google search for information about a “lacune” found in an MRI of my brain. A happy accident, for sure! I have always enjoyed LC’s music, but Elizabeth’s analysis takes it to a much deeper level. Well done.

I have to say "Senzafine" is probably one of my favorites. It is in Italian and it's beautiful. The words are intricately woven with the melody and Cristina's And Andrea's voices. I remember they played it acoustically at one of the concerts I attended. That acoustic set was everything. It made things more intimate, as if they bared part of their soul with the audience. I have been a fan since "Comalies." I have seen them live a few times, and they do not disappoint. They are very down to earth. If you have not listened to "Comalies XX" please do! It's a beautiful surprise and treat to hear some of the favorites reimagined. It is a very refreshing reminder why we have come to love this band as much as we have. ♡

The part where you were talking about it being magical is mostly in the composition. It's got multiple underlying sounds creating a thick musicsphere to fly on. The tone, not just of every instrument, but the over all tone, which when in the several octaves range, can build chords upon chords and play with melodies that wouldn't be possible other wise.
Her vocal range compliments the range of the other instruments as well. The rich vocals and her use of dipthongs complimented other melodies in the background. Truly beautiful work. The mastering in this song is great, adjusting the levels to support her vocals just right helps to bring that magical full feeling to the song.

This is the first Lacuna Coil song I ever heard, and the first time I ever heard it, I had no idea Andrea was in the band. I thought Cristina was bringing that rasp and grit herself in that chorus.
    I still bet she could.
I did also notice the slide on the word "lie", whereas it's more of a deliberate descending scale in the quiet chorus. Later on, when I realised Andrea's vocal was the reason for the shift in tone, I often wondered whether it was because he didn't quite have the control of his pitch that she does, or if it was simply a stylistic decision for contrast.

She was nice enough to say hello and sign all my CDs. Sadly, I lost all that stuff in a fire a while ago but I still have the fond memories. Lacuna Coil is still one of my all time favorites but another band I would like to recommend is Lovebites from Japan. They're all female and they're one of the best power metal bands I've heard in years. Their drummer is an absolute machine, they have the dueling guitars and their vocalist has a R&B background but she's transitioned to metal in fantastic fashion.

There's a rare gem by LC that's a b-side from the album previous to this called "Lost Lullaby" that has both incredible lyrics and is probably still my favorite vocal performance by her. I wholly recommend that one.
Actually funny story about "Heavens a Lie" for me. I actually sent them an email probably back in early 2003 because there are mutliple versions of the video for this song and I wanted to know the story behind it and so I asked why they shot two different videos and Cristina replied to it saying "Sure no problem. There's actually 3 different versions." Not sure why I laughed so hard when I read that, I guess it was the matter of factness in it. Anyways, while this is the best shot of the videos, the first one they did which was super low budget, and kind of romantic horror themed (if that's even a thing, I just don't know how else to describe it) is my favorite, because its just plain fun.
