Once you cut the main trunk it does not get any taller. It will grow new arms outwards but never taller so keep that in mind when owning one of these. Be certain before you cut your trunk. :)
BLANKU2, Really good point! Thanks for mentioning that.
Absolutely wonderful presentation. I have a super lush healthy one for the past 20 years that is almost up to the ceiling. I will try to chop it and hope it will generate a new growth or two. And I’ll try to see if I can get the top portion to grow roots too. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us.
@michelenichele294, I'm glad the video is helpful. Your Dragon Tree sounds spectacular! They do well with air-layering, which you're planning on doing.
Do you use full strength 70% isopropyl alcohol?
@user-bb2lp8dv3v, Yes, full strength.
I have a small one and here lately it is looking sad, leaves are turning darker almost like it's changing colors for autumn
Cassy Stone, How long have you had the plant? It may be a watering issue. Also, is it in the correct size pot? You want the plant/pot combo to be 2/3 plant (upper part) to 1/3 pot.
@@HealthyHouseplants in correct size pot. Had it for about a year
@@cassystone977 Okay, and you haven't changed anything recently like how often you water, etc., or the type of water? Or the location of the plant, maybe? It's not in front of a heating or AC vent? Also, did you fertilize recently?
💚 I really liked this video and I love my two plants. 🪴 They're very healthy. Getting enough light in my Arizona home is hard without grow lights. Unbelievable, yes! These homes are just built dark 😳 I think to keep the 🌞 out. I use earthworm castings and they just love it. Good 👍 video!
Sharon Holmes, Thank you, I'm really glad you liked the video! They are great plants. That is interesting about Arizona and the design of homes and the light, but makes sense. Earthworm castings are a great idea for these plants, for sure! :)
Mine seems to like when the AC is on it blows right on it
@cathyspooner7093, Interesting! Good news is that air circulation does make plants stronger, too.
