5:00 I notice he does always pronounce ME as MAY in his songs, even today. You don't realize it at first but then one day it hits you. That's how smooth he is I suppose, it works for him.
Yes! I love Daughtry!!!! I have this acoustic version of his song "Crashed" that I've been working on, but emulating his voice is something that has kinda eluded me
As a hardcore Chris Daughtry fan, you did an impressive job sounding similar to his vocal tone and range. This video made me smile! Well done 👏❤️ People named Chris or have variations of the name Chris are gifted creatively and intellectually😉
Love this, I tried daughtry and struggled with trying to imitate his sound, this breakdown really helps, looking forward to trying it again with your tips in mind.
I would be very interested in a video on vocalists with strong character to their voice. The likes of Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, who both had very unique approaches to singing. While not the most technical of singers, they both were able to use their voice in expressive unconventional ways. It highlights an important mindset for singers to have, and that is to being open to exploring their own voice with confidence, and to be as expressive as they can.
Nice! Some years ago I was kinda obsessed with Daughtry's voice, I learnt a lot of his songs, I was especially into the album "Baptised". He's still one of my favourites. To me one of his distinctive traits is exactly what you mentioned, the percussiveness and rhythm he puts in his phrasing, he's very "groovy".
Ever since I first came across your channel and saw you do these reaction videos, I've been waiting for you to do one for Chris Daughtry. I want to cover one of his songs and this is super insightful.
Would love to see “sing like” videos for Jeremy McKinnon of A Day to Remember and Caleb Shomo of Beartooth from you. These videos are always so helpful and well-made.
Unfortunately Poets of the Fall is not popular (enough) because I really wanted to see an analysis on Marko Saaresto but it's probably unlikely to happen. Thanks anyways!
Cool! I might have to check out his stuff now, never been a huge fan from what I’ve heard... but I liked the lines you analyzed. I’ve requested him before but I’m going to again, cause I’ve really been digging his voice and music lots recently; Jay Buchanan! Such a versatile, dynamic and powerfully soulful singer!
Dude I hate his genre/style of music but his voice is fucking insane. IMO he is easily top ten rock vocalists of all time which is fucking insane. On the level of talent that Layne Staley had, different style but his power and range is awesome. He’s criminally underrated.
Chris Daughtry singing talent and skillset was underrated 🥺🥰he deserved a grammy awards By the way my deepest condolence to him cuz his son was past away a couple of days ago #DaughtrySolidFan
love Daughtry - and I will use these tips and excercises to try and sing one of his songs, not sound like him but at least give it a shot! cheers Chris.
I know this is probably a bit of a weird request, but I think it'd be awesome if you analyzed Nick Cave. On one hand, he's quite melodic when he wants to be, and on the other he REALLY leans into his natural baritone a lot. I'd like to see you break it down on a song of his like Oh My Lord or Brompton Oratory.
Have you done a video on starting phrases with vowels and consonants? Example "I'm not scared" that phrase do you suggest a little h sound to start with something that sounds like "hime" not scared, or a hard eh sound ? Hope that made sense
Awesome....I would see you break down Toni Cornell voice. I’m sure you seen the video of her covering her dad song hunger strike. She has a very powerful voice for someone who is only 15 IMO. She also has a original single out on iTunes I believe it was recorded with her dad when she 11? Not sure.
Unchained Melody is a good song to practice with sing high and all aspects of your teaching I got a karaoke machine for $20 @ Family Dollar no reverb or special effects but let's you hear your own voice and measure where you are ACCOMPLISHING its bluetooth and if you have ear buds and use only one you have music in your ear and speaker of microphone I use to mock you to see how close as you teach on UTUBE SESSIONS THANK YOU CHRIS AND CHRISTMAS MUSIC HAS MOST OF YOUR SOUNDS FOR VOICE CONTROL!!! ITS CHRISTMAS AND MOST PEOPLE SING TO THE SEASON AND IS MORE COMFORTABLE TO PRACTICE
6:12 i kinda sound a bit like this, but i know my breath control is good, because i do false cord vocals, yet when i try to use clean chest voice, it sorta sounds like a wannabe elvis/patrick star ;-; my mouth is small and my neck is big, so im probably a tenor or baritone, so when i try to make any note, i sound like that. i may be asking for something impossible because im a octave or more lower than daughtry, so this is probably a impossible favor, but does anyone have advice?
Hey Chris, I know I've asked before, but just wanted to ask again, is it possible to break down Jonathan Davis' vocals for Korn? Or maybe some of his solo stuff? To me, he has one of the most distinctive singing styles and voice out there...
Remember you have to crawl before you walk but by pushing myself to your artists I'm doing much better at my artists and not impersonating only imitating the style my confidence is growing to not be AFRAID to challenge MYSELF LOL
Hey Chris Liepe, Do you think Chris Daughtry sounds like Maynard James Keenan? I think so!!! Even I sound like Maynard if you heard my voice.. Come see me in Magee,Mississippi!!!
Hey Chris thank you for this vid, i’ve been waiting for this ! I am also following your 12 week program (currently week 4). Two questions: 1) regarding Daughtry’s choruses, his high notes, is he using his head voice ? It’s really powerful and it feels like if it isn’t, is he fooling us with lots of compression? 2) also regarding his choruses (mainly 1st two albums) what kind of harmonies is he pulling? It seems like he is doubling his voice on the same pitch and that there are other voices behind? Or is it just production ? Because it sound really wide, very similar to nickelback i find. Would be great if you could analyse Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace & Saint Asonia. Love those tutorial!! Thanks in advance! Alex
Hey Chris, I've had an issue that maybe you can help me out with (maybe a video idea too?). When I'm trying to reach high notes in aggressive singning/screaming, I get light headed. Either one of two things happen: I feel like I'm about to faint, or I get a huge headache for a few seconds, like there's a lot of blood pumping back into my head. It's really annoying and I feel like I might hurt myself like this. I couldn't find much information on the internet about this issue, just one video from a vocal coach but discussing a different type of singing (here's the link: th-cam.com/video/WwmmYJPbPzk/w-d-xo.html ). Huge fan of your videos, thanks in advance!
Chris Daughtry is such an amazing singer and criminally underrated!
5:00 I notice he does always pronounce ME as MAY in his songs, even today. You don't realize it at first but then one day it hits you. That's how smooth he is I suppose, it works for him.
He must have gotten a copyright from Justin Timberlake.
Yes! I love Daughtry!!!! I have this acoustic version of his song "Crashed" that I've been working on, but emulating his voice is something that has kinda eluded me
love that song.
Oh my god crashed is my favorite
As a hardcore Chris Daughtry fan, you did an impressive job sounding similar to his vocal tone and range. This video made me smile! Well done 👏❤️ People named Chris or have variations of the name Chris are gifted creatively and intellectually😉
😂😁🙏🏼
I wish I could sing like this guy
Yes! So glad you finally did a Chris Daughtry video! Maybe it's just me, but I find many similarities between your singing and his.
I love the "NOT a Reaction" in your titles. Kinda sounds like a burn to Ken Tamplin ahah
YES I felt like that too lol
Right on. This guy is the real deal and provides insane value IN FRONT of the paywall. It's why he's so cool.
Love this, I tried daughtry and struggled with trying to imitate his sound, this breakdown really helps, looking forward to trying it again with your tips in mind.

I’ve been really into break the spell
"how to daughtry"
**VIOLENTLY CLICKS VIDEO**
Ever since I first came across your channel and saw you do these reaction videos, I've been waiting for you to do one for Chris Daughtry. I want to cover one of his songs and this is super insightful.
You sound so crystal clear. Love this video!!
God!!! You did it finally! Thanks Chris! I've been waiting for this all this time!
Been waiting for this video!! I’d be curious to hear you breakdown a Pop Punk vocal sound like We The Kings or In Her Own Words
This brought Daughtry back for me! Good times
Would love to see “sing like” videos for Jeremy McKinnon of A Day to Remember and Caleb Shomo of Beartooth from you. These videos are always so helpful and well-made.

I would love to see this!
Ami tomaye bhalobashi Chris . ( I love you 😘) thanks for teaching me the best singing technique ever

Yesss!! I still would really like to learn how to mix like vic Fuentes too
Hey Chris, you should do Chris Stapleton (Barely Alive or Sometimes I Cry for instance). It's right up your alley.
So to be that good at singing, I have to train so hard I lose all my hair. Fair deal, sign me up
Just shave it... don't wait for it to fall out... much faster that way :)
Leaving my 2nd like here, a bit late but I love your work so much man. Keep it up. God bless you
Chris Daughtry singing talent and skillset was underrated 🥺🥰he deserved a grammy awards

#DaughtrySolidFan
AHHHHH THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
You did it!!! Thanks so much!!!
You've reminded me of Daughtry since the first time I heard you sing. Awesome stuff! He's got to be one of the most versatile voices in rock today!
You should listen to the Citizen Soldier singer, he's very good
love Daughtry - and I will use these tips and excercises to try and sing one of his songs, not sound like him but at least give it a shot! cheers Chris.
I'd like a video on Neil Fallon of Clutch sometime. His tone is so unique and he's got a great chest and mixed voice.
Wait... I thought you were Chris daughtry???
haha
BAHAHAHA
I’d love to hear/watch a dissection of Heavy Is The Crown
Great job! I love Chris Daughtry. Can you do a video on Adam Gontier? Thanks for the excellent information.
David Lee I’m in full support of this!!!! I always felt I could more naturally resemble his sounds than anyone and I’d love to harness that more!
Fully agree !
I know this is probably a bit of a weird request, but I think it'd be awesome if you analyzed Nick Cave. Chris Daughtry is one of the best, but who is this Chris Liepe? You have an amazing voice, going to check out your songs!

Love you man good work
Can you please do tutorial how to sing she's gone?
Awesome....I would see you break down Toni Cornell voice. I’m sure you seen the video of her covering her dad song hunger strike. She has a very powerful voice for someone who is only 15 IMO. She also has a original single out on iTunes I believe it was recorded with her dad when she 11? Not sure.
Daughtry was the 3rd best thing to come out of Idol - after Kelly Clarkson and Carrey Underwood.
Nah, I'd say best
And Adam.

You should cover Gene Ween. He's probably the best and most versatile singer that I can name.
Chris Liepe Daughtry or Chris Daughtry Liepe

You've totally got Daughtry talent!!! Request....Robin Zander.
Hey Chris Liepe, Do you think Chris Daughtry sounds like Maynard James Keenan? I think so!!! Even I sound like Maynard if you heard my voice.. Come see me in Magee,Mississippi!!!
I definitely hear it in some of his notes!
@@chrisliepe Hey Chris Liepe, Another person who I always thought sounded like Maynard is Dallas Smith from Default
