My only concern would be that those large Intex pools are known for having their supports rust out and break rather quickly. Seems like it would be a pain to inspect and replace them with it sunk in the ground and with the deck blocking access.
@@robonions hi Rob- can you make a video on how you did that. My husband and I want to put our pool in the ground as our HOA won’t allow AGP’s. Our concern is when you put the pool in and make our deck, how can we have access to everything in case of replacements once we put the deck in. Can you show me how you did that? How you made the hatch to have access?
The decking was the most expensive part. By memory I think it cost about 2k. I did all the work myself so labour was free. Pool, heater and pump all bought from Discount Leisure products.
That is a lot of work for something that will deteriorate at pool liner will only last so long and if you get a rip in it hope it's not too long they have underwater Fix-It kit now that much time and work and invested out of just put a in-ground pool in
I know someone who's had one if these pools for 10 years and the liner is still in good condition. I've read that if you keep the water in which we do then it will prolong the life of the liner too. Fingers crossed for no rips. We did have the Newfi in it once but luckily no rips!
Thanks. I have a hatch to get underneath the decking and you can walk all the way round the pool underneath the deck. The heater and pump arr also underthere so everything is nice and accessible. I'm working on getting a video out to show it.
Hi, it's all still working perfectly. We take the pump out and put it indoors during the winter but leave the heater in situ, just wrap it with some hot water tank lagging. It's raised off the ground too just in case we get some water in the hole. Put the cover in and reopen it in late spring.
Looks awesome👍How do you keep rain water from filling up the space between the pool and the retaining wall? I'm afraid the pump and filter would get submerged after a long hard rain..
Thanks. The pool is sat on a sand base so it drains pretty well. We do get a couple of inches of water in the bottom during prolonged periods of rain in the winter when the water table is high. The heater is stood on a brick base soits high enough not to be affected .
@@lostin.psychosis7080 yea I put a sump pump with a bobber in the bottom of my "moat" around the pool, so anytime it rains it lifts the bobber, turning on the pump and through a hose up over the side and under my deck, to a low spot in the yard. Has been working well for 3yrs now.
do you have blue prints that can be bought? I want to do this but do not know "how to do this" lol... & need to submit plans to obtain a permit to see if I can even start to do it --- to ensure there are no line or pipes in my yard... I just need something to go off of to use as a reference... let me know if you can help..thanks!! :)
Hi, I don't I'm afraid. I just hired a mini digger and started digging a hole. By the time I'd ruined the lawn there was no going back. I then just got a load of wood, did a quick sketch of how I wanted it to look and started building. Sorry I can't be of more help.
The decking was the most expensive part. Labour was free as I did it myself but it took some time. Can't remember how much the pool, heater and pump was but they are available from Discount Leisure.
Thanks, i'd be interested to see your progress. It took some doing so don't underestimate the amount of work! One word of advice, make sure you get your retaining wall posts in deep enough. I didn't and had one hell of a job pulling them straight and pinning them back. Also we found out this winter that the pool ended up sitting in about 4 inches of water as the sop level went up.
@@christinafreer3907 it went eventually. Keeping our fingers crossed its not damaged the heater as it was left in place with a thermal blanket round it to protect from frost.
Probably because of the outlandish price of inground installation. These Intex pools will last for many years when they're cared for. Looks like he gave himself room to remove and replace if necessary. Nice job!

Looks great only thing i would change is put the decking boards on the right way up
This turned out beautifully! Only thing I'd do differently is using steps in place of the ladder. Otherwise, looks awesome. Thank you for sharing!
Great work Rob!!!
Nice work dude and thanks for the idea 👍🏾
you did a great job
wow u guys r gods
super job! .. to say the least
Very nice
Nice work buy I would have made a underground pool for all the trouble.
Starting at around $75,000 USD?
So nice bro

There is a hatch for accessing under the deck and you can get all the way around the pool for inspection. The pump and heater are also under there.

Hi. It's excellent. What are the different sizes of wood used?
How much did this cost apart from the pool? I'm considering starting a savings fund for it.

How Deep was the dig ?

I suggest putting a sump pit in and pipe it out. Water will eventually weaken and "bleed out" the soil from behind the walls @robonions

what would you guess the life span of this pool could be, if properly maintained?
I've heard of people having them for 10 years plus.
Nice project. What kind of wood was used for the deck?
Thanks. I used a softwood decking with 4 coats of preservative

Do not do that!!!I build a real swiiming pool!
How did you install that pool cover
It's just screwed to the decking.
Hello, awesome job! What are the measures you dug the hole to fit in the 12x24 pool?
Thanks, do you mean the dimensions of the hole?
@@robonions yes. Thanks for replying
@@brunocosta4295 I think it was about 3 to 4 ft wider than the pool.
how much does the pool cost?
How has it held up?
Yes, still going strong. Will be getting it ready for summer this coming weekend. Put the pump back on, get the water circulating and we're away.
What happens when it rains?
It gets a couple of inches of water in the bottom but soon drains away
It is hard to get a permit for the project?
I've no idea!
I'm doing the same thing
