With that central attium with the artifical environment sure shows how it was a luxury vessel first before becoming a warship. Must have made down time between battles a lot of fun abaord the ship.
Being a bonafide ship nerd and hangar bay enthusiast, this is by far one of my most beloved ships. I loved the hangar bay scene in jedi. I would love to see someone fab up on blender something new and different for landing operations, or do an interior of home one.
I remember reading somewhere- maybe one of the X-Wing novels- that some of the small "blisters" were actually anti-starfighter bombs. Sensors would indicate whether an incoming fighter was friend or foe, if it would fly though a predefined field of effect, and if there were any friendlies that could get caught in the blast. If the conditions were right, the armament would detonate and throw a lot of shrapnel at the enemy. Rebel/Republic fighters would abandon chasing some enemy fighters if they got too close to the Mon Cals to avoid any unnecessary conflicts.
I still wanna see one of these ships filled with water for it's aquatic crew. That could make for an interesting battle, with scuba troopers being used in a boarding action.
@brandonjew1397 If anything, a ship full of water would probably take much longer to decompress, and water has a much higher specific heat than air, so it would take much longer to freeze.
It would be interesting to see a version that would work like the outbound flight dreadnought ship. With 6 sub section ships around an MC-80-ish core hull.
Some say that the Home One Type MC80's aren't all the same size and that Ackbar's Home One was one of the largest. But really, I think the ship scales in the movie aren't consistent (because they weren't taking it THAT seriously back then) and the size changes from scene to scene. Then later, source books didn't know what to do about it so now we got wack ass numbers and nothing adds up 😅
@@Kurayamiblack So - forgive me if I go off on a exceptionally in depth essay, for fans here: All those statistics listed are 'official' basically - beginning in West End Game's Roleplaying Game. It's possible the 10 starfighter squadrons figure began there too, but perhaps that is a holdover from some behind the scenes information? The Return of the Jedi Novelization in 1983 hints the Home One is 'larger' than pretty much every other Rebel ship preparing to go to Endor. The Technical Commentaries site estimates the right-hand hangar is about 29.146 times smaller than the overall ship length - but has an interior 'lip' with a smaller inner bay, which seems to be much smaller (44.26 times smaller than the whole length - or 5.4 cm relative to a 239 cm total model) All that leads to a very large size for the ship, assuming the bay is over 60 metres wide. Easily close to 3000 metres. If it is 70 metres wide internally then the total length is about 3100 metres. And in Ahsoka recently, when the Ghost lands inside - that has been estimated (by rebelscale. cm) as giving a total length of 3200 metres or more - or two miles. Whilst Technical Commentaries uses other clues about the landed shuttle or ships outside, to get an upper limit of 3800 metres. Myself I am most comfortable with a size of 3.1 to 3.2 km. The 1300 metre size has been added in the early 2000s, I think - by the Wizards of the Coast roleplaying game. Obviously it only works if you ignore the hangar's literal layout. The sublight speed figure is prone to shift between RPG stats and the X-Wing video games (which rounded some up or down) If the speed given is '7' in the RPG, and the TIE Fighter speed is '8', then the TIE either clocks out at 100 MGLT, or 80 MGLT. But both the X-Wing and the TIE have variants in West End Games where the speed is listed as '10'. If the former, then 100 may = 8, and then 87.5 may = '7', and 75 may equal '6' (like the ISD and the MC80 are often listed as) In the video games, all warships average much slower speeds though - not counting atmospheric speeds. Also, yes, a lot of this has been hashed out on the Jedi Council Forums (particularly in Fleet Junkie Flagship pages) and also: yeah, I am a member these days. Just FYI. But it can be fun to discuss such things. Just like with a certain 'five mile SSD' ah - dispute.
So Home one at one point was 3 kilometers, so twice the size of an ISD. Most MC80's where built smaller than a ISD. Depending on reference guides, or cannon versus legends.
The MC80 Home One ships gotta be one of my favorite ships. I do have to wonder though, what would happen if the Kamminoan cities wasn't destroyed by the Empire, and the Kamminoans joined the Rebellion, with a bunch of Venators, Acclamators and Kuat decided to say "eff it, let's join the Rebellion", while contributing the ships the clones were used to? I know, i know, it's an alternate Star Wars reality, but who would supply the Empire if Kuat decided to change team, and collaborate with the Mon Calas. I actually want to see a What If show, just like the one Marvel has, but for Star Wars. I do hope we get to see a movie where Kuat and the Mon Cala ship yard collaborates in a ship and for once is on the good side, together, helping the Republic Rey, Finn, Poe and the Resistance helped to rebuild and restore, during their war with the First and Final Order. We do after all know Star Wars EP 10, 11 and 12 is coming, so maybe we get to see Mon Cala Shipyards and Kuat Driveyards on the same side. I hope it happens
Ngl I kinda like the idea that Home One is bigger and more powerful than a traditional ISD. Gives the rebels at least one ship that could be considered a “Dreadnought” (before they got their hands on Imperial Dreadnoughts).
@MetaNerdz hey man really like your vids and I personally always thought that the MonCala ships were underrated. Cheers for this. If I may make a suggestion, could you make a video on the Darklighter family? In my opinion is it that the Darklighter’s may be the most influential family in all of StarWars lore
Thanks for another upload! How did the #Moncalamari and #Quarren feel about the #Gungun ? Did the later serve on their ships? Did either build or have colonies on #Naboo ?
Nah even in Legends they were those sizes. They retconned those informations, because... I don't know. But you can find it on Wookiepedia or some other sources. Some prefer to give the Home One the size of around 3.000 metres. But the most sources use the 1.2 - 1.4 kilometres
@@EddieCorsis9398that started around the time feloni was getting going, and while it was before the buyout, it's still definitely more a part of the Disney era than what came before.
Adm. Ackbar doesn't get nearly the respect he deserves. I'd like to see a life story on him. He's always so cool under fire, and in his crisp white uniform, he reminds me of the naval captains in old WWII movies. What events shaped his life? What made him such a confident badass? He's got a different "something" than all the others.
My life has been a complete and total misery ever since a Wookiee stole my precious girlfriend in the middle of the night. 😒 He even took all her clothes and the T.V. 😔

I always wanted to wonder around one in X-wing versus Tie fighter the computer game. So disappointed that I couldn't.
I LOVE the Mon Calamari cruisers.
Watch out for that iceberg!!

That wasn't Mon Cal's, that was bulk cruisers. It was in Heir to an Empire trilogy.
Another fine addition to my collection
I dreamt of the day you'd cover the MC80
Some dreams do come true.
One of the greatest Star Wars ship lines!
I still wanna see one of these ships filled with water for it's aquatic crew.

I imagine that a boarding party just breeches the hull and all the water and aquatic life freezes

I like to imagine that the New Republic did something similar to Outbound Flight. Mon-Cal ships seem like the best option
Need to come back and watch again i miss watching these videos
I attended a nerf herder conference on an old home one. Some of the nerfs got into the water passages. It was fun.
Home-One Class is so good in Thrawns Revenge, easily one of the NRs best ships.
I have always wanted to live on one.
I still refuse to believe that the Home One is smaller than a ISD

If these capital ships have so many turbo lasers, how come you can never see them on the ships?
