What I love about hearing James sings songs like this is seeing all the vocal techniques he has to use to make it work. I'm 50 years old and I have been listening to Metallica for 37 years and they just keep getting better and better. To me, this band is nothing short of perfect! The memories that I have with my friends listening to this band is without a doubt some of the greatest times in my life. I will listen to this band until the pass because they are apart of the days that matter most to me........everyday!

We were kids, man.... great times growing up with the band, still the same fan today.

The missing element, a live event with an audience, is sad, though as a longtime fan of both bands to me it sounds excellent just the same. I think those of us who've seen lots of concerts in our lifetimes can't help but lament the way things are these days. Acknowledging it's possible that the simple things we took for granted, like concerts, may never happen again is beyond depressing.

AiC was fairly heavy and hard, but they weren't exactly thrash, and the crowds were not exactly sure what to think of them. (That may be putting it mildly). When "Would" came out, though, it was in heavy rotation on the local hard rock radio station, and the frantic, despairing sound really resonated with me as I was dealing with a turbulent (and ill-advised) relationship. Now, more than two decades later, the biggest of the Big Four have given us this superb rendition of "Would" and thus proven that Alice in Chains really was metal all along. 😉
