STILL bringing it after all these years! Treasure it folks, sadly, they won't be doing it much longer. Not to sound cryptic, but time will catch us all. Performances like this are moments that us fans are lucky to be able see. When these masters are around this long and able to deliver at a level we could only dream to? Man, this was just plain awesome.
Me too brother, I saw them on a little black and white TV screen in the early 70s at my Grandparents house. I am also nearly sixty now. They were /are phenomenal. I duck onto TH-cam occasionally for a quick fix :-)
Much respect for Pierre here. I didn't know this guy was this good! I don't hear of him in circles, among affluent drummers who we've all come to know over the decades. It must be, that he is just way underrated!
I heard a fill on the B-side of Moving Waves, that had me confused for YEARS.....And i knew he didn't have 2 bassdrums. So through the years i've heard numerous live recordings of Pierre, and know for a fact he was way ahead of his time as a drummer!! I believe him being classically trained and his love for Jazz, had him take a very unique approach to music.
True, you do not here his name mentioned by anyone at all, but after hearing him playing on the album "moving waves " about 30 years ago I've admired him since and still listen to that album. In the drumming world, he deserves greater recognition. The man's simply brilliant.
I started listening to them in 74, then the great Jan Akkerman on the guitar, nothing to take away from this, Thijs van Leer ........you're a myth !!!!!!👍🐘
Wow wow wow ... Pierre van der Linden is now even more hip than he was back in the day .. what he did at 11:19 onward is beyond belief .. composite rhythm with the hi hats holding the original tempo while tearing apart the rest of the drums with other tempos and time signatures all playing at the same time .. talke about a man with 3 brains here!
So good to see that Thijs van Leer is still going strong. And Pierre's drum solo was outstanding.... Love this song it was such an inspiration to me as a young musician as is this group.
In about 2015 Focus came to my local town (with Groundhogs and Wishbone Ash on), I had been a fan since Moving Waves and while Groundhogs were on I slipped out for a beer and who should be in the foyer than Thijs (hoping to sell a few CD's) we must have talked for about 20 mins about music in general and M Waves in particular. I told Thijs of my admiration for their music and Pierre Van Der Linden, Thijs said to come back to the dressing room after the gig for a beer and to meet PVDR. They were great company and Pierre, I spoke to PVDR about my admiration for his drumming and the complexity of the Time Signatures of his drumming which is just brilliant. He was staggered to hear of my praise for his skills. For me he is my top 3 of Drummers (Ginger Baker, Cream- Gavin Harrison, Porcupine Tree, King Crimson and himself, in no particular order. Not only is he a humble and very pleasant man but he paid for my beer as well. A top guy!
its always such an empowering feeling, when the crowd sings along...and when Age prevents YOU from doing it Yourself, im sure it feels even better, knowing that the metaphorical baton has been taken...
Brilliant. This is all I can say about this. Jan Akkerman once boasted that as far as guitarists went, he was the best. But this guy just about overdoes him! And as for Thijs van Leer: he is just so good! What more can I say?
Are you effing kidding me.. ONE of my favorite bands... They get better and better... Anyone know if this is a full concert on TH-cam??... Looking for there latest gig playing Eruption..
Yes, Thijs' vocal extremes of his youth can still be heard, softly and mixed with today's Thijs. The spirit of the music lives in him.... uniquely him.
Delighted to have seen this live at Sale Waterside Arts Centre, UK in November 2023 - and finally got to meet Thijs afterwards - we are both 75!

At almost 60, still a fan, from the first hour. Who listens with me in 2021?
Me too brother, I saw them on a little black and white TV screen in the early 70s at my Grandparents house. I am also nearly sixty now. They were /are phenomenal. I duck onto TH-cam occasionally for a quick fix :-)
i will
I am.
Best drum solo of all time. ever. In history . Most powerful band. ever
Lmfao not even close. It was good, but that's about it.
Pierre on the drums is an absolute legend. Unique style and very under rated.
Bemoedigend om Pierre van der Linden nog zo goed in vorm te zien op zijn 75e!
Hocus Pocus is on the playlist of my life.
Focus forever.
50 plus years and still in FOCUS 👍😀
Hahaha ,,Good one.HalleluYAH !
Listened again. Just excellent; brilliant. Pierre, so pleased you have not retired yet. Please don't retire.
Much respect for Pierre here. I didn't know this guy was this good! I don't hear of him in circles, among affluent drummers who we've all come to know over the decades. It must be, that he is just way underrated!
The man is a player ,indeed.HalleluYAH !
He is a legend mate

And playing as "when you have 4 minutes..."
Focus es la mejor banda holandesa de la historia. Grupo fundamental del rock progresivo.
Eu gosto muito dessa banda maravilhosa!

Been a fan since they started. So good to see the two older guys still going strong - especially Pierre on drums - he's even better!
Still stunning after all these years
One of my very favorite all time drummers going back to the masterpiece Focus debute LP: MOVING WAVES
Glad to see that Pierre hasn't lost any intensity in his playing and the chops are still there.
Pierre Van der Linden was one of my biggest influences as a drummer since the 70's. his work with Focus and Trace speak for themself.
Me to, Van der Linden was my greatest influence to my drumming... good to read it was the same for you popeye, good luck to you..
Tan locos como siempre. Genios. Abrazos desde San Juan. Argentina.
Pierre on the drums.
Amazing and brillant.
Conclusion: Pierre is a brilliant "Story Teller " on drums.

Great Performance, Fantastic Groove & Energy!!! The drum solo is super musical and technically challenging. BRAVO!
The drum solo is mind blower! PVL had a most beautiful feel on those skins!!!!
Respect, and thanks for the great song Hocus Pocus, that's one hell of an energy giver.

Totally agree! Very impressive!
wat een geweldige band (nog steeds) prachtige opnamen en super geluid!! Bravo allen!!!!!
RIP the drum set. Pierre is not even sweating after that solo. I lost 5 kilograms while watching that.
Pierre Vander Linden , de beste drummer OOIT !!!!!! man, man !
So good to see that Thijs van Leer is still going strong. And Pierre's drum solo was outstanding.... Love this song it was such an inspiration to me as a young musician as is this group.
Drum solo is incredibly musical, as in it follows a lot of what the organ and singing has set up, reprises the guitar work, then adds its own
Wauw! Tijgers na zo veel jaren. Ooit gezien in bioscoop in Sneek, begin ‘ 70 jaren. Top!
Different and cool guitar solos cool arrangement. As teens we loved that song always made you smile with that yodeling. Great song.

SIETE DEI GRANDI!!!! COMPLIMENTI!!❤️🍀🙏🌄🌈
its always such an empowering feeling, when the crowd sings along...and when Age prevents YOU from doing it Yourself, im sure it feels even better, knowing that the metaphorical baton has been taken...
Ok, so his voice is pretty much shot, BUT, he “improvised “, very well, and the music suffered very little. INCREDIBLE ‼️
📻😁📻😁👍‼️
Sweet! 😊
Ilu zostało takich mistrzów perkusji! Perfekcja!
Thank you for letting everyone see this.

Brilliant. Love the lyrics. Pierre par excellence. Have missed them, great to see them again.
The lyrics are legendary !
Genialissime ! Cette version
9 minute drum solo, not bad for an old guy! Seen Focus in 2010ish in the Citadel St Helens great gig.
I'm not a drummer, but I hope I'll be able to move as fast as Pierre van der Linden at my 75th :-o
Thijs, ya no tienes que demostrar que eres un grande 👏
Paiste, Zildjian, Meinl...Wat maakt het uit, als het maar goed klinkt!! Zo hoort het!
Pierre, still going strong........respect..!!
Pierre van der Linden is simply the best >75 drummer in the world.

Old school daddy's rules.. period

This guy is no Jan van Akkerman
Jan Akkerman was humbled by Paco de Lucia.
You could mention the amazing drum fills by the incomperable Mr. Pierre Vander linden
van der Linden remain magistral!

Are you effing kidding me.. ONE of my favorite bands... They get better and better... Anyone know if this is a full concert on TH-cam??... Looking for there latest gig playing Eruption..

th-cam.com/video/opon0lE3lLQ/w-d-xo.html here you are sir....
Shame Thijs can't manage the rising scales any more. But he's still got it on flute and keyboards, and Pierre van der Linden is still magical.
Age does not forgive voices...
Pierre van der Linden, he' s amazing since 50 years.
Yes, Thijs' vocal extremes of his youth can still be heard, softly and mixed with today's Thijs. The spirit of the music lives in him.... uniquely him.
I think he ruins it when he yodels he should let someone younger do it or retire
It's way past time to hang it up.
Reminds me of Jim Dandy still performing. Give it up.
Go out great.
A Great Band for over 50 Years ❤️
I love it
