The issue ive personally seen _a lot_ of black women express towards the dear black woman video is that...while he may sincerely appreciate black women, many women were annoyed at him expressing that his early engagement with black women is running to black women when HE has problems. The inplied expectation that any black women anywhere will just....always be available to cater to everyone else's needs, even at the potential risk to themselves Which is a valid issue to have as with his video, even if he did mean well
@@iamhaleesah292but his intentions don’t matter to the point because he’s still “mammifying” black women, especially when you consider he’s married to a white woman.
I know I am late to the party but I feel that it is worth commenting. It was his mother who gave him the advice. He didn’t come up with it on his own. His mom gave the advice when he was a child. Surely as a grown man he won’t be running to the first Black woman he sees in the street if he is in trouble. He posted the video to come to the defense of Black women after the comment Andrew Schultz made. I do not understand how any Black women could watch his entire video and come away annoyed that he posted the video to counter Schultz’s tropes about Black women.
I loved your video and appreciate the nuanced view of how society expects black women to live up to certain stereotypes and we have to remember that we don't owe anyone anything. I wanted to speak on the saadmustafauk video because I very recently followed him on tiktok and just enjoy his presence on the internet. His story is actually very heartbreaking and I think that is why he spoke about black women with such a heavy atmosphere. To me, his video wasn't about just liking black women, but highlighting the positive effect black women specifically have had in his life especially in a time when he went through a lot(no seriously he has been through a lot), and it was a nice break from the hate we see from men on the internet towards black women. Anyway, that's just my opinion. Love your video, didn't mean to write a whole paragraph😂sorry
It is an obession and a problem. Making Black women the saviors of multitudes of systemic violence is an abuse relationship I am sure we are all trying to free ourselves from, but many people do not want that.
This is where I stand now that decolonizing from abusive cycles means I have to personally really look and listen to where black people are coming from like western culture is underlining our actions, while we also have a ton of issues with abusing and negelcting one another like how do we get out? Cause constantly dropping each other in the face of not playing a mammy role is where the connection and community destruction makes d'evil's agenda
@@HummingFeather Interesting take and I do take your point. I think the point is not that women shouldn’t care about their community. It’s that the people who don’t are automatically the jezebel, and people who do are not supposed to exist outside that form. The idea that we are just a certain type of people and promoting that puts a lot of women at risk if they don’t conform to the the “norm.” A lot can be said really.. Ultimately everyone should play the role of building our community, men and women.
He loved black people/black women so much because of their resources but where did he take his resources. Not to a black woman. If he never had those experiences with black woman would he still have so much high regard towards us. So he says.
I happened upon your video when I was going down the TH-cam rabbit hole 😂. If you have not read the book Caste: The Origins of our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson, I highly recommend it. Based on your thoughtful analysis in your video, I think the book will resonate with you.
Wonderful take. Latino/Latinx/Latine/Latin@ is not a race, nor ethnicity. It is simply a geographical marker, as in to say of Latin America where many races and ethnicities live because of the TransAtlantic Slave Trade and colonisation. Howdy from Belize, Latin America (Caribbean, Central America and México and South America). Some Italians are white and that is okay.
This part. The way people make Latinidad their whole identity is a feedback loop from racialization of people during the colonization of indigenous people and the transatlantic slave trade. *Wave* I have family there, and hope to visit in my lifetime.
It can be seen as a subethnic group and a mixed group of people hence using the term brown people same as mid east that is also mixed up racially due to proximity to each race group.
Self-Love is about self-love. People go to a therapist because sometimes a friend can be a yes man and only tell you what you want to hear or if you have a mental issue they might not be equipped in knowing how to deal with it or what to say and how to help. It's not just about capitalism you also can't control your friends whereas a therapist you are supposed to be able to guarantee that stuff you tell them stays between you 2, with legal protections. Where as a friend you don't have a legal standing there, they can potentially go run their mouths. Community love or support system is different from self-love. People do have to start seeing and dealing with people are individuals and not as stereotypes. Yes, I do get stereotypes can exist for a reason and SOMETIMES with some truth but to interact with someone based on how another person behaves is strange and nonsensical.
Someone tried to test that out with me and found out I'm not one of those black women. I'm not the mule, not the secretary, not the maid, not the therapist, not the nurturer, not the sidekick, not the comedic relief, none of that. Just let us be as human beings without the burdensome expectations already...don't believe the movies, we don't like struggle and whoa and don't want to hear about your problems to mother you 🙄
Italians are white, the country is literally in europe, the only italians that i would think ,that they would say that, they are not white are the ones in America, but if I wanted to learn italian history i wouldnt go to an American italian
They are europeans, but due to their proximity and cultural mixtures in the region they might not be considered 'fully white' like some groups. But typically they are seen as white.
