Today the Jamuary prompt is ”A jam to be played on a mountain”. We don’t have mountains where I live. had a brilliant idea of taking a Soma Ether to a hilltop cell phone tower and making some noise explorations. I later turned these noises into samples and a sort of a beat. That track is coming later, but first I wanted to share just this unedited footage of the noise exploration there. The Ether is a beautiful machine, making this unseen world of electromagnetic waves into unpredictable sounds. Ether walks are a thing of beauty. Next to the cell phone tower we have this lovely scenic tower, which has a beautiful view of Tampere and a cozy cafe famous for its donuts. Soma Laboratories Ether v.2 Shot in Tampere, Finland Video shot with a micro 4/3 camera. Audio from the Ether recorded with Zoom h5. The finished jam is here: th-cam.com/video/MbCjNJwxXNM/w-d-xo.html
Very cool experimentation. Been quite intrigued by the Ether and haven't heard it react as violently before Would I be able to take a few samples from this? Think the little surges and things could go great with a beat
Sure, feel free to sample this! Glad you liked it. As well as this one, which showcases some of my favorite Ether sounds: car motors, among many other things. th-cam.com/video/TkXCoOTGjtE/w-d-xo.html
Yes! The Ether is sensitive to electromagnetic frequencies and turns those into sound. Walking around with one is fascinating! A discovery of a new world. I’ve made a few videos with it. Lately I’ve gotten into turning these sounds into jams as well.
No. No! ... TOO silly! Right! Afraid I'm going to have to put a stop to this! It was ALLL very interesting back when it first started (two or three years ago), but we've been waiting ever since for someone to slap these naughty bits onto a Volca Sample and actually make some damned MUSIC with them! But nooooOOOOoooo! We're MUCH too POSH for THAT. Pardon me, Mater, but I must go and pretend I'm Karlheinz Hainbach Stockhausen Jingleheimer Schmidt and make avant garde electronic music to torture cats by so that the kids will think I'm cool and hip and hep and NO ONE will understand me and my Big Electronic Cat-tortured soul. These two aren’t mutually exclusive. I find both kinds of approaches intriguing. This time I did both: this experiment with just the noise, and then just what you said: turned these into samples and made some music. Here’s the jam I made from these sounds: th-cam.com/video/MbCjNJwxXNM/w-d-xo.html

Ooooh this one makes me wanna grab my Ether and go for a little walk😁
do it do it
Yeah! Ether walks are a thing of beauty.
Fantastisia rätinöitä ja suhinoita!
Kiitos! Tämä on mahtava laite!
Oh that vibe!!! Love that footage!
Thanks! I’m lucky to live surrounded by this landscape.
Cool noise experiment.
Thanks! I enjoyed it as well! Enjoyed sampling these sounds for beats as well.
everyone around: hey why is my cell reception all wonky?
what a cool concept and it sounds amazing.
Thank you! Oddly enough, the reception at the foot of the tower is terrible.
Perfect! Can anyone go up the stone tower? Or just Ether owners?
Thank you! They sell tickets for 2€. Oddly no discounts for experimental musicians.
@@psykheart Totally worth it though. My mast isn’t nearly as impressive. ❤️

What an incredible landscape! Excellent idea - the raw Ether is a little too spicy for me at times but excellent work
What? Something is too noisy for you? Judas! 😆
@@psykheart 🤣🤣
thats a shocking statement
@@kgbstudio 🤣🤣
Damn. Seb? Are you all right? 😅
I didn't know this was a thing!! You mean that sound is just in the air all the time??

Ow! Careful, don't microwave your brains!

Ι disagree. First of all this is the first time I listen to the raw sound of ether which I have wanted too. Second, TEKNE=SHIT , UP THE NOIZ
@@kgbstudio and also TEKNE = ART!
@@psykheart Well, SO you did! Gosh, do I feel like a silly bunt. 😙
