@@OdinMakes Yup! Kinda jealous, I wanted to try this with resin and my pyramid mold but I have got to stop taking on new builds until i finish a few current ones.
I always loved Vinny's builds. Shame we haven't heard much from him since DIY Prop Shop, he was a talented maker and always entertained me. Fantastic job on your take on the puzzle, Odin, you did great as always. If you're itching for another Power Rangers build, may I suggest the Sword of Darkness? Not that I want to torture you with a hard curved blade but it'd be interesting to see how you'd work it out.
The Millennium Puzzel looks really clean. The fact that you didn't use power tools is an added bonus. I just can not get enough watching you building things and applying your "odin makes" ways to my own projects. Thank you for the consistent output of video throw the years, you really got power (might be because you have the Thundercats, He- Man, and Power Sword and of course "the puppy"). And as always all hail the mighty algorithm.
As I got older I got into magic the gathering and honestly haven't even thought of Yu-Gi-Oh in years. What a cool prop to make though, i use to watch the cartoon all the time. I always liked that the cartoon would teach you how to play the card game and for some reason they were the only ones who did that
Although to be fair they play fast and loose with the rules a lot in the show. I feel like you might be better off playing one of the video games to better understand, but then again I haven't played it in years.
@@TheRealAlpha2 lol fair enough, it's been close to 20 years since I was into it and can't remember it super well. Given it's anime style I would definitely believe that it's a bit fast and loose with stuff
@@sum1liteamatch The start of the series didn't follow the rules as it was actually written before the game was made. So I know this is an older video but one of the things I love about your videos is when you admit you made a mistake. Because it shows people that it is okay to make mistakes. Even someone who does this stuff for a living makes mistakes.
Odin, you have know idea how Much I’ve been waiting for you to make this exact prop. I even tried making this myself when I was very young and not a good prop maker. And it turned out horribly. ( think of it from a prop maker point of view, as a toddler trying to recreate the Mona Lisa with a stick of charcoal.) I can’t tell you how happy I am to see one of these things, while it actually looks great, while also being fan made. I love this. Ps: when I started watching you, I always wanted to be like you, and be able to make things as good as you do. And watching your videos over years and time, has improved my skills by more that’s normal. You helped me achieve that, and I thank you for it.
As a huge fan of Yu-Gi-Oh! who still plays the game today, and someone who's studied up on a ton of the lore from the show, I can say I'm particularly pleased with this recreation. Great job, Odin. When I saw Vinny's prop back on DIY Prop Show, I was honestly a little disappointed, cause he didn't make the edges solid angles like they should have been. Now seeing yours, I can say I've finally let it go. Now I just have to wait a long time for this particular piece to show up on Etsy so I can snag it. XD As for the terms and stuff, you got everything right, as far as I noticed. In terms of the eye, it is indeed the Eye of Horus, but is also sometimes referred to as the "Eye of Wdjat". A fun fact is that the Millennium Puzzle was actually originally one solid piece. It was referred to as the Millennium "Pendant", but after being used as part of an evil sealing ritual, it was shattered to help prevent the ritual from being undone, and thus became the "Puzzle" it is known as by most people.
@@protoborg Considering you deleted your first comment about it "Being the Eye of Ra", and now you're trying again, and are factually wrong, I'd recommend you delete this one too.
What you're trying to refer to is the "Eye of Anubis", which is part of the Eye of Horus on Yugi's puzzle. The Eye of Anubis is the eye featured on 6 of the 7 main millennium items, but isn't on the Key anywhere. It Is, however, on the "Quantum Cube", which was used by Aigami in the Dark Side of Dimensions movie.
Those costools worked great! I like how you layered the foam to create the even panel lines rather than score/burn them in. It gave it nice, clean depth
As someone who grew up Watching Yu-Gi-Oh! and playing the card game, this was really enjoyable to watch, and it looks perfect. You're a true artist, Odin.

I've been watching a lot of your older videos over the last couple of days, and after the last one I watched, where you made Stormbreaker from Avengers Infinity War, I was thinking that you really should make a Yugioh prop. And lo and behold, you read my mind. Excellent work.
YO this was such a good prop, and I can't believe how simple the process is. I'd really like to see you make a wearable millennium eye and a millennium ring! Maybe make one of them glow!
This is great. If you're looking for a new idea for a big build the megazord from mmpr would be great. It would also let you use that awesome intro again.
Would be a great addition if that new cosplay tool had a track of its own to ride on. Like tracksaws. Nice build Odin! Always been a big fan of yugioh.
Odin! You should make something related to Warhammer 40k, I know you said you used to play in the past. A chain sword or a bolter would be super cool! Even a space marine helmet would be awesome. Love this build btw, awesome as ever
I was thinking along those exact lines--use acrylic instead of foam, adjust some of the lines, and leave off the Eye of Horus, and add a small LED, battery holder, and switch inside.
The Millennium Puzzle was the first prop I've ever made, that was around 20 years ago (yeah, the cartoon was released in 2000). I made with the only technique I knew at the time: papier mache. And the idea of "searching on the internet for reference" was pretty much non existent on my mind in those days, so I made everything by memory, and the geometry lessons I had in school XD Of course the pannels don't look anything like the original, but I still have this prop I love it to pieces
While the inconsistent design in the show might be mainly resoned by a non very much defined design of the Millenium Puzzle, there is actually a lore-explanation that might explain it aswell. The Millenium Puzzle was said to be extremely hard (or rather impossible) to solve and only one who was chosen (Yugi Muto) was able to solve it. And looking at how big the pieces actually are, it wouldn't make sense, except if... well.. the shape and size of the pieces changes steadily, even when already build. Just my two cents as someone who started to read the manga a year or 2 before the anime and the TCG even became a thing outside of Japan.
