    ⚘️It is rare to have a "Giant" in the financial world to understand & practice meditation. In Buddhism when we are able to reach the state of calmness & equanimity, it is Samatha. If we practise Vipassana, wisdom can open to us to understand "Annicca" ( Impermanence), etc. Nothing remain static, as in stock investment & empires, etc as described in Ray's book - The Principle. Ray Dalio is our inspiration. Thank you. 🙏

    It's the sign of a great meditator when he/she doesn't try to make you PICK one form of meditation. All meditation simply is, is bringing greater awareness into our lives in the present moment. It's not resisting anything, but simply allowing whatever is here and now to simply "be". The calmness that manifests comes to us both physically and mentally over time and has a myriad of benefits. It's humbling to see one of the best investors of our time recommend such an ancient practice. You're the man, Ray!

    That TM does work( started at 20 yrs old ,now 73 . And ancient Christians meditation works too. Start easy . Pick a quiet time NO disruptions! Do this consistently. Then go learn a meditation technique that you can stick with. Meditation is not a "diet" you try and go to the next one. Thanks Ray D. for the insight.

    Great to see successful people talking about meditation and normalizing its use. In the past, many people have been put off by the connection to religion or other systems of belief. Meditation is really just a tool that has been adopted by these groups, but which works perfectly well outside of any system of belief.

      This is a useful observation. IMO, the harder you find meditation, the more you are likely to benefit from it. If it comes easily, your mind is probably already in a fairly settled state. If it only comes with difficulty, that's probably because there's a whole lot going on in your head that needs to settle.

    • @2bfrank657
      @2bfrank657 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also, it is normal and ok for thoughts to appear during meditation. Don't mull over them though, acknowledge their presence, then go back to nothing. The thoughts that pop up can be very insightful, but they should be coming from your sub-conscious, not from deliberate, conscious thought. Later on you can analyse any revelations that have come through your meditation.

      I had the same struggle when I started. I soon began to realize that even if all I felt like I was getting out of a meditation session was 10 or 20 minutes of silence, I was benefitting greatly from the break from the world. Iain McGilchrist has done some interesting work on the right and left hemisphere of the brain. I'd love to ask him if meditation helps quiet the left hemisphere and activate the right. The LH tends to see the pieces but rarely the whole picture, whereas the RH tends to have a more holistic outlook. The LH is probably home to the Monkey Mind, endless chatter, constant worry, more egocentric etc....

Meditation can "reset" the mind, allowing us to see the big picture, and develop a way forward accordingly. It won't solve all your problems, but does put you in a better position to deal with them

    I'm glad Ray meditates, but he is not a teacher of Transcendental Meditation, and some of what he says in this video is not accurate. Mantras do not take thoughts away. Thoughts do not necessarily decrease in proper practice. Mantras are vehicles for the process of transcending, the development of higher and deeper consciousness. Secondly, 'aum' or 'om' should not be used for meditation by anyone wanting to be successful in the world, it is a mantra for recluse mantra, only for those who renounce the world and its goals and desires. The sound 'aum' or 'om' will gradually destroy desires and success in the world. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and his teacher both strongly and firmly warned about this. As far as the various forms of meditation, Transcendental Meditation is more evidence-based than all other meditation systems combined (mindfulness meditation has not been systematized, it is not taught the same way by its many teachers, so I don't consider it a system of meditation). "It will be 400 years for my teaching to be recognized for what it is." - Maharishi This will take place as the Golden Age dawns.
