I was diagnosed with a personality disorder in my teens, and I started practicing meditation and it totally changed m life and allowed me to start seeing the world as it truly was without trauma and stress and anxiety.
Guys, if any of you have any doubts about TM, don't. It really works. I used to suffer from really debilitating anxiety and it really helped me. I'm completely independent.
Was diagnosed with GAD about 6 months ago and instead of taking anti-depressants, I started practicing mindfulness and transcendental meditation daily. I feel like a completely different person from who I was 6 months ago. I have emotional stability and control. Trust me folks, this works.
RianUK, Greetings, Its suggested that you find a teacher to mentor you on your quest. I would tell you to read books written by Adyashanti. I've been on this quest for almost fourty years and started with TM. Well actually my journey started eons ago. Just remember this isn't about ritual, worshiping statues, images, money or a particular behavior. These are what the Buddha said are attachments. Think of the ego as a separate compartment of your mind. The ego is "problem central" in this journey we are undertaking. The "thing" is to be consciously aware of what is happening...to be awake! Take care!
Antidepressants for anxiety disorder? How do you know you wouldn't have recovered spontaneously without TM or medication? How do you know the TM was the cause of recovery, and not some other coincidental factor or normal outcome with time?
How significant are the results though? been doing Mindfulness for 5 months, noticed vague results but weren't that great. What I want is significant results.
hey warren how are you my man ? : ) listen,i'm practicing mindfulness meditation for 4 months now and i heard about this TM now .. is it possible to train with both of them ?? interesting, what and how does it effect on human, can you tell me please ? thanks man : ) waiting
TM along with guitar were my greatest friends when I got out of military and had to deal with PTSD and hopelessness. Its the divine gift that creator embodied in every one of us
Thank ALL that is for your recovery! So happy you found peace. PTSD has gotten me fired from multiple jobs and shunned as a friend and family member. Just recently a Dr. tried to bully me and goad me into an argument during a PTSD panic attack. There are so much hatred and discrimination. One of our goals is to help people with this to regain peace and internal value. Hope to hear from you again ~ Namaste!
I’m learning TM today. I can’t wait. I’m very excited. Been waiting for 2 years so that the teachers resume the in person teaching. Sending love and prosperity to all. Wish me luck 🍀 ♥️
Learned how to do Transcendental Meditation back in the early 70's when I lived briefly in Colorado. Meditation (in various forms and technique) has remained a powerful tool in my life still today. Thank you for the video.
I have been using TM for about 50 years.. TM "Transcends" the environment as well as the mind, and with practice, can be done anywhere, anytime, even standing in a subway car. When your mind becomes neutral, you are aware of what's going on but you are also more able to receive cosmic enlightenment.
I Started TM in 1971. Have the advanced Siddha Program and some other tools to help along the way. I became a teacher in 1975 in Switzerland and was made a teacher by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It works, it has changed my life focus and helped me to interact with the world around me in a very compassionate way. LEARN THIS ASAP. Joy, & Fun is fundamental
I practice TM, 20 minutes, twice a day, and it's incredibly helpful for me. I feel calm, focused, and happy. Also I have much more energy and I'm not prone to anger. I look forward to it each day. It's like a calming bath for the mind. Definitely, read this man's book about it. I couldn't put it down. The cost of learning TM is worth every penny and there's aid for those in need. Once you learn it you have lifetime support from the most wonderful people at TM Centers including retreats, further education, social events, and more. Lastly, I've tried over 4 different types of meditation over the years and TM is by far the most effective, natural, and easiest one for me. Just a sincere comment from a passionate computer student living in the U.S.A.
I’m attracted by the notion(s) that it’s effortless, brings you almost immediately to the deep calm place, and that profound change comes rather quickly. I signed up for the Introductory thing, but it was cancelled due to COVID social distancing. Soon...
Learned TM in a Quaker Meetinghouse in 1973 in Pennsylvania. My boyfriend fell asleep. LOL. I, on the other hand, found a technique that has stayed with me since then, through good times and bad. It has become imperative for me to practice. So much good comes from it. I apply it throughout the day when I am fighting what is rather than letting lufe flow through me. Truly liberating.
TM has changed my life 🌻 I’ve struggled with clinical depression and GAD my entire adult life and this is the only thing that has ever given me peace. I had tried so many things to help with this (drugs, other types of meditation, alcohol, yoga) nothing has impacted me as profoundly as TM. After my first time practicing the technique I felt like I had become a new person. It’s worth every penny. I’m current 24 years old and am so happy I found TM. Your thoughts are not your enemy. You don’t always have to numb yourself to escape. We just need to heal and TM is the only thing I’ve come across that helps you heal from within. If you’re watching this video wondering if you should try this, I highly encourage you attend an intro class close to you and get educated on how this practice can help you. Pure consciousness>
wow thanks for sharing this. I am raging a battle in my head every single day. this it my next thing to try to calm the demons down....dare i even say, get rid of'em.....
I took TM in 80's in Washington, DC. It saved my life and worth every penny I paid. I have used it throughout my life and it led me to live an awesome life beyond anything I could have thought before beginning TM! Still love it and am thankful for it being a part of my life.
This is Gold. I wanted to meditate for years but I needed a method that I could practice easily. THIS iIS DEFINITELY THE RIGHT ONE FOR ME. MUCH GRATITUDE.
We were fortunate to meet an American who has been practising transcendental meditation in India for 16 years and learnt it from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was the guru who taught this technique to The Beatles.
My sister and my brother in law have been practicing TM for few years now and especially with him the change is very obvious...from quick-tempered aggressive guy, he changed to a completely calm super friendly person and we all appreciate this transition...I was trying to apply for a TM course for quite some time and finally it looks promising for class in October, despite the corona...this video was very helpful and now I'm really looking forward to it :)
My late sister and her husband a heart consultant in the Mayo Clinic both studies under the Maharishi. She then taught me about 40 years ago. It changed my life in ways hard to explain.
I took the course back in 1974 and it was a wonderful experience. I need to get back into it more frequently. Sometimes I used it to help me get to sleep.
Learning TM and TRANSCENDING is the best thing I've ever done! Learned in 1971 and have been doing TM 2X daily for 50 years now. Bob Roth is an excellent TM, but all certified TM teachers have been rigorously trained to teach in a highly effective manner.
I was initiated in 1973. It was awesome, but stopped over time in the 80’s. Not sure why, but ....studied the TAO with a small group of folks for about 4 years til just last year 2019. Was having breakfast with a friend he said that he meditated twice a day!! I knew immediately that he was doing TM. He was my inspiration to get back to TM. So glad to be back.
Tm really works. You calm down ,you get more organized ,you feel happier ,you sleep better ,less anxious , more friendly. ,more protective ,more organized you even do nothing better..... What a deal...... I'm totally sold.
I’ve been doing TM on and off for about 40 years and yes it definitely works for anxiety, but it slightly annoys me when the experts say you can only learn from a teacher as you are given a mantra for your age and that’s it no specific tailoring for your personality as they keep on insisting is what happens.
Thanks for your comment, and we're glad to see you have found TM helpful for your anxiety. Everyone who learns the TM technique gets personal instruction from a certified teacher of Transcendental Meditation, and it is tailored to each individual's personal needs. If you are unsure of anything about your practice, it is worth reaching out to your teacher, who I'm sure will be happy to help.
I agree with every word this guy says - TM is an amazing thing. It should be taught in schools. As simple as it is you can run in to some problems when you first learn. Once you get through these minor issues the benefits are unbounded. If your had a Hayes manual for the human mind it would have a single page with three words - "Learn Transcendental Meditation"
I can’t wait to try TM, I have saved enough money it took me long time. I have meditated for the last 10 years on and off and it has helped me a lot with my anxiety.
What I have felt that the most subtle difference in Transcendental Meditation that makes it different than all other techniques of meditation is allowing your mind to make your own thoughts your vehicle to take you to a state free from any stressful thought which is your pure conscious. As our body has the capability to heal itself, the best healing takes place in that stress free state. That state may be for a millionth part of a second, with daily meditation that pause keeps growing and your mind start leading you towards health, well being and wisdom and you naturally become a part of the process of peaceful co-existence.
Enlightenment - Self realization is the goal, and once you learn TM you can, if you wish, accelerate your growth to enlightenment with advanced courses. Maharishi has made enlightening individuals, and indeed the whole world, his mission, and the knowledge is beautifully, and profoundly designed..
This guy does an amazing job at explaining TM and its impact on the brain. He kind of makes me want to study the brain for some reason. Very informative. I will be trying out TM in my daily life due to this video. You have a new subscriber.
I went to the maharishi house in november in rishikesh. Im here because my outing to the beatles ashram sparked my interest. That was a wonderfull day for me.
The practice is wonderful. It’s a shame in some quarters it has a shady reputation because of the fee. I learnt 30yrs ago and forgotten most of teaching but just do it and it works
I leared TM a long time ago, and I still meditate, but I have since long begun to try out and practice variations of meditation. I also modulate my practice and methods according to the need I have at the moment. That means that I do not any longer meditate these 20 minutes two times a day, but more according to my daily need. But there is harly any day where I do not meditate, and the techique is really effective.
From my perspective, there's no such thing as a "variation" of TM as TM is just normal thinking that happens to sorta have a mantra kinda, sorta involved... kinda, sorta.
Well, the TM company has a very strict definition of TM, and if you go outside their simple, but strict procedure, they will say it is not TM any more. But what so, this is only a disqussion of what you call things. I often use matras I have made myself, I do not necessarily sit upright in a chair, and a lot of other variations. Actually, I begun meditation with selfmade matras long before I took a TM cource, and I found out that i had guessed faurly well what TM is, and my own mantras are better for some purposes than that I learned at TM. By the wy, I know about all the mantras TM use, I think, but my own are as good, actually.
It'snot body and mind, it's body and spirit, since the mind is a part of the physical body. Clearing your mind of thoughts you let your real you, the you that is immortal, take control
Great talk,I've been a TM meditator for 34 years and I can vouch for everything said here,it works, its automatic,no effort whatsoever, you feel great when you do it and afterwards, you look forward to it each day like you do going to bed,who doesn't want to go to bed? I have never had any connection with the TM movement,I just learned TM and am satisfied with that.It has helped me cope with some very traumatic situations, thanks Maharishi.TM is my secret weapon.
you have to pay if you are serious, the TM professional teachers have to live as well as you, they have bills the same as everyone else, and they only get a small percentage of the fee. In any profession you have to pay the fee. do you work many days for nothing? no, there are free or reduced fee lessons to those who have no money, enquire to the nearest TM centre
brandon2932 That covers not only your instruction, but a lifetime followup program at any TM Center worldwide. If you are a student the price is lower. If you have financial issues, the local center often has access to scholarships and grants to lower the cost. If you are a homeless vet, or a vet with PTSD or have access to government agencies the David Lynch Foundation works with, you can learn for free. Still a free lifetime followup program, no matter what you paid to learn.
@@brandon2932 It's a lifetime program. And there are no additional fees if you want your meditation checked or want to attend the advanced weekly meetings anywhere in the world. If I offered you a beautiful home for $1,000 would you think it was expensive? TM is far more important than any house. Compare a one-time payment of $1,000 with what you would pay a psychologist for the rest of your life.
I have decided that this is the year I learn. For one thing, the TM organization has made the course more affordable for those with lower incomes, and while it's still a bit pricy for my budget, it feels doable with a little bit of planning on my part. I wish I could learn it tomorrow, but alas, I must wait. In the meantime I'm enjoying the research and materials that I'm digging up online.
Thanks!!! My girlfriend really needs this right now. I personally did focused and mindful meditations in any posture you could think of, but for her, focusing just isn't on the table right now. Thank you!!
I read about this 30 years ago once, was curious and then I changed location and my life and I forgot about it. I have heard learned and tried other meditation and then lately this word has crossed my mind, i made a mental note to check it up, I forgot and just now I just remembered and found this. Let me learn
Bob Roth- excellent , I think this is the best video talk I have ever heard on TM. I feel TM is blessing to mankind ....& u hv done a wonderful job...you hv explained ...everything it needs....
Had my first two out of four sessions already. It's true what he says, it's effortless and very simple. Will finished my course over the following two days.
When something good come from India, it is always universal, for all human beings and not associated with religion. Read any text on Yoga Sutra, Tantra, Kashmir Shaivism, Vigyaan bhairav; all teach same goal to stop noises and disturbances of mind. Yoga is Hindu.
My son and I are attending our first class today by a certified TM teacher. I am really excited as I have always been curious about TM. Funny enough, it was always brought to mind listening to Howard Stern’s radio show. He learned the technique at 18 yrs old, and always tells his audience! I’m finally listening Howard . Lol.
Same here re Howard! I started practicing TM two weeks ago and have found it to be life changing already. I plan on taking a four day course very soon. Wow. Just wow.
Obviously, if TM had a philosophy or some kind of belief system, it would have far less followers in our world where people are repelled by things like that.
strewf In a sense, sure. You can "follow" an exercise regimen afterall. "Following the TM program" means to practice TM twice a day, morning and evening, with about 6-8 hours of healthy activity after each session (health issues allowing, of course).
+strewf TM has been taught to war refugees in Africa with serious levels of PTSD. Their response has been so dramatically positive that the United Nations is conducting its own research to see if TM is really as valuable as the pilot studies say. PTSD isn't something you can just bottle up. Nightmares and flashbacks aren't something you can repress.
Lawson English There you go then, it's a palliative. If you have a headache and take an aspirin, you're not addressing the problem. Sure, you could repress nightmares and flashbacks, as they are symptoms of the underlying mental damage. They'll come back when you stop repressing them with mind-numbing. If I owe the mob money and can't pay, and go to a football game to take my mind off my worries, I still owe the money. People with PSTD have to get over it, by facing it and accepting that life and people aren't as nice and neat as they want them to be. PSTD is based in denial of reality, like all mental illness.
Also here because of David Lynch. Turns out I've been doing it for years I just was focus more on my self then my work. And now I'm using it to improve myself as an aspiring director. My mantra is the main thing I need to find
I agree with this, meditation can lead to opening the doors to the collective consciousness we all share, it's like that place before birth and after death. What I don't get is why you would register a national trademark for the word "Transcendental Meditation", this is something we all have access to, always have and always will, just seems odd for the wrong reasons.
+Dan Regna ALL TM teachers train for 5 months, in-residence, to become TM teachers. They train just as hard as actors do when rehearsing a play. They agree to help every single student of every other TM teacher who taught TM, no matter where they learned or when, as long as the TM teacher was still following the guidelines of the international organization. That means that you can learn TM for free from teh David Lynch Foundation in South America and travel to the USA and go to any TM center in teh USA and talk to a TM teacher for free at any time for the rest of your life. Most countries outside the USA have a nominal fee structure for this, but the followup program is free-for-life in teh USA. There are about 300 TM centers in the USA ( www.tm.org/site-map )and maybe 1,000 or so TM centers around the world (tmhome.com/learn-transcendental-meditation/ ). Try setting up an organization like that in only 50 years without charging a fee.
+Dan Regna "Transcendental Meditation" is registered because TM teachers go through 5 months of training, in-residence, to become TM teachers, and agree to provide lifetime followup support for every student of every other student who learned TM through the official organization. And so standards are kept via the trademark. National governments appreciate this level of quality control. Currently, the TM organization is negotiating with virtually every government in Latin America to train government employees as TM teachers, so that everyone can learn TM for free at their school, or in prison, or in hospital, or even when they join the police force or the military. And all of THOSE meditators will have the right to go to any TM center, anywhere in the world, and ask for help with their meditation. THAT is what trademarking "TM" and "Transcendental Meditation: an internationally recognized accreditation organization for meditation teachers.
Here because of David Lynch

I feel calm just listening to this guy describe the technique...
Tm really works. You calm down ,you get more organized ,you feel happier ,you sleep better ,less anxious , more friendly. ,more protective ,more organized you even do nothing better..... What a deal...... I'm totally sold.
We can heal ourselves with TM
It can reset ourselve & get back on track to gain balance & have more happiness.
Have been meditating since 1970's.It Calms the mind naturally
How was it beneficial in your work?
Any touching the universal consciousness?
I am really impressed from your way of speaking, it's very smooth and soft to ears, and make me to listen and knowing about TM.
Thankyou sir.
Say no more! The Hayes for the mind.
I feel a law suit coming on. 🤣
Whose here after watching that 70 year old woman on Oprah? I need this in my life!
yep...me
Me
Yasss!!! Exactly
Me too! 😃
Mee!
Key concept here "We are hard-wired for the experience."
Very supportive of this technique for individuals suffering mental issues.

Lol same I knew it from Principles
I can’t wait to try TM, I have saved enough money it took me long time. I have meditated for the last 10 years on and off and it has helped me a lot with my anxiety.
Hows ut going bro? With TM?
What I have felt that the most subtle difference in Transcendental Meditation that makes it different than all other techniques of meditation is allowing your mind to make your own thoughts your vehicle to take you to a state free from any stressful thought which is your pure conscious. As our body has the capability to heal itself, the best healing takes place in that stress free state. That state may be for a millionth part of a second, with daily meditation that pause keeps growing and your mind start leading you towards health, well being and wisdom and you naturally become a part of the process of peaceful co-existence.
Pure consciousness is without thoughts or awareness of anything at all, not just being without stressful thoughts.
Both good points, thanks.
Thank you, Trilok; nicely explained.
TM summary at 18:12. To me, it sounds like self realization is the ultimate goal of TM, which is a great goal in my opinion. cheers all!
How it’s going? Have you been practicing for 7 years?
I went to the maharishi house in november in rishikesh. Im here because my outing to the beatles ashram sparked my interest. That was a wonderfull day for me.
So THANKFUL & Grateful to have found this joyful discovery
The practice is wonderful. It’s a shame in some quarters it has a shady reputation because of the fee. I learnt 30yrs ago and forgotten most of teaching but just do it and it works
There a pleasant amount of Will Ferrellness in this guy
YEP
Haha, yes!
There is now
And Steve Carellness
hahahahaha love that
I leared TM a long time ago, and I still meditate, but I have since long begun to try out and practice variations of meditation.
This saved my life....
where do you go to learn this technique
Been practising for 39 years….Best thing I ever did for myself…Very Best!
Did you use a teacher?
_"Did you use a teacher?"_
That's how you learn...
3 weeks for me. My anxiety disorder is basically gone.
Just 8 days in! -lifechanging i will do every day until i die
@@HolisticHealthWithHarry do u do it on ur own?
It'snot body and mind, it's body and spirit, since the mind is a part of the physical body. Clearing your mind of thoughts you let your real you, the you that is immortal, take control
It is absolutely incredible. I can't believe how amazing it is, really. I'm only 2 months in!
Did u learn from a teacher?
did it really wk ?
Are you still doing it?
This man is a living Angel. Such a beautiful soul!
I wasn't ready for this but I am now... wow, I always overthink everything, I really appreciate this, thank you.
Best simple thing I learned in my life....
I feel immensely blessed to exist
Cheers to my transcendental meditation journey! 👑🖤
howd it go?
Thanks Beloved "BOB" To Describe TM-(TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION) On Simple Terms.......
+John Smith but $1000? Thats pretty damn expensive
brandon2932
That covers not only your instruction, but a lifetime followup program at any TM Center worldwide.
How did you learn it?
@@brandon2932 It's a lifetime program. And there are no additional fees if you want your meditation checked or want to attend the advanced weekly meetings anywhere in the world. If I offered you a beautiful home for $1,000 would you think it was expensive? TM is far more important than any house. Compare a one-time payment of $1,000 with what you would pay a psychologist for the rest of your life.
This video is a great resource for my knowledge.
Actually this guy explains it better than many others 👍
First time listener to this Podcast. Sounds pretty good. Logical.😊
Any progress?
How's it been?
Feel better just listening to bob Roth his voice is amazing thx
Bob Ross's meditative cousin! 😁
What this guy says is true. I've used the TM techniques for many years and it brings all the benefits he says.
suth108 Teach us then.
I love this guy. His suit reminds me of Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood
It's a beautiful day for a beauty
That’s sooo true!! The soothing spirit of Mr. Rogers 😊💜
Oh, you just meant his suit 🤦🏻♀️ oops.
Here because of Buzzfeed 👍🏻 Sounds really nice, I'd like to try it out in the future.
Thank you for sharing. Very appreciated for your time.
When something good come from India, it is always universal, for all human beings and not associated with religion. Read any text on Yoga Sutra, Tantra, Kashmir Shaivism, Vigyaan bhairav; all teach same goal to stop noises and disturbances of mind. Yoga is Hindu.
Actor/Filmmaker Bill Duke said transcendental meditation saved his life in his Vlad TV interview, that’s how I know about this meditation.
Yes, Bill Duke is wonderful! This technique has saved many lives, and we hope to get it to more people in need
Here because of ADHD
I'm really looking forward to getting started 😁 thank you beautiful people for continuing the knowledge and being amazing mentors
Lol.
How’s it been so far?
Same here re Howard! I started practicing TM two weeks ago and have found it to be life changing already. I plan on taking a four day course very soon. Wow. Just wow.
This is so far the best introduction to TM that I've seen! Great that you mention right off the bat that TM does not have a philosophy or belief.
Obviously, if TM had a philosophy or some kind of belief system, it would have far less followers in our world where people are repelled by things like that.
Alex Anderson Why would anyone follow it? What is there to follow? Having followers usually involves a belief system.
strewf In a sense, sure.
I learnt it in UK 40 years ago.
Also here because of David Lynch. Turns out I've been doing it for years I just was focus more on my self then my work. And now I'm using it to improve myself as an aspiring director.
My mantra is the main thing I need to find
Here because of my ADHD. Hoping to help relieve some of the chaos constantly going on in my brain
Hope it works out for you man. I am here, also for ADHD
@@LawsonEnglish very good answer indeed :)
Learned TM because of the "Fool on the Hill" and my friends in a "Yellow Submarine" and the many more who live next door.
I signed up for the Transcendental Meditation program several years ago. Best investment I ever made. It truly transformed my life.
Thanks. Fabulous
Rebecca! Didn't expect to see you here, love your channel!
Very much grateful for soothing and with perfect content session.
