Such a relevant topic. Tata Cars reliability needs to be called out. Bought punch, 400km in facing issues with AC. 2 times into service already, makes me dread what I have to face in the future with this car and the company as a whole
I recently visited tata motors showroom 2 times as I wanted to buy punch but they didn't give me test drive of punch and they were very rude ( as if they are saying buy if you want to, we don't give test drive). Maruti Suzuki people gave me test drive of both ignis and Baleno and they were very polite. Ultimately ended up buying Baleno instead of punch.
You got lucky there sir…we bought two tatas within 2 months of each other and we sold them off within 2 years of using them…we were happy with the cars until something broke down and it had to go to the service and things just kept falling from there on…one of them was safari dark edition on which we lost 8 lakhs in just a couple of years and we just shifted away from big carsthe other was a tiago which was replaced by an Ignis…we gave them a shot…we were hopefull…ultimately we turned back to maruti again…we lost a good lot of money on both the cars but the saddest part is we expected a lot better from what we got.

Just sharing my experience as a true fan of Tata and owner of Two Tata cars One Zest Petrol and Tiago Petrol. Starting with Zest it has done 95k overall experience with the car is okay I bought it when Tata was trying revamp it's image so the niggles were on lesser side, but now the car is 8 years old and Servicing the car at TASS is not all friendly as there is huge spare part issue and even the svc center are not happy working with car, but i know a SA for years he helps me out but he too struggles a lot for us. For Tiago it has a lot of fit and finish issues the boot closing issues as finally sorted after they changed the latch. Rear parcel fitting is so poor and the plastic around is getting removed from it lock it is eyesore. Sometimes there is unnecessary noise of rattling from seats which constantly need to be taken care off. So after all this experience and Tata fan i would say to the company is grow up find your issues from consumers and dealers work on them change vendors for some of parts which have bad quality. Improve your service center experience and this will only improve cars company from factory come with out any issue and niggles. Increase the service center in cities too handle the car loads. Instead of launching any new cars work on these issues. Just remember your safety tag usp won't work anymore as competition has come up with safety too.
As per my experience, Mahindra is much better than Tata when it comes to service experience, but they are equally bad when it comes to launching a product before properly testing it.
I remember this one incident where Mahindra provided a free XUV400 replacement to a customer when his car caught fire but TML ended up suing the person before he could recover from his medical injuries.
I am not willing to put my hard earned money on some inferior quality product . I need the bang for my buck . And I am doing my research. I think modern India is very intelligent. Can't take them for granted.
I wanted to buy Safari, asked for a car for Test Drive, I was told that all the test vehicles are being used in Showroom MD wedding to entertain their guest, I kind of agreed to wait for a week and I was told that cars were still not back. This was enough for me to switch to other car maker.
In November last week, i went to Tata showroom in Ahmedabad, progressive motors, motera branch.. To enquire of Tata nexon/ punch ev.. Meanwhile, sales person didn't offer me any discount for year end so I told him that maruti nexa is giving good discount. He replied to that then u shd buy maruti instead of coming to Tata.. It was so annoying customer service experience. Finally I bought fronx while I wanted to buy nexon / punch Ev. But now I feel that it's better to have maruti suzuki
That guy saved you from head ache may be…. I saw one guy near my house had bought nexon ev… i was driving to certain place and I saw this guy’s ev stuck in the middle of the road…. Felt very bad him, on top of that he looked like married recently.
I own a Tata Altroz Diesel for 4 years now. This is my 5th car in last 20 years, I need a bigger car and definitely TATA is not in the list of options. The car is excellent, but the after sales is messed, they can’t fix basic issues despite changing the parts everytime… and these extended warranties seems like scam, nothing is covered.
Why is Tata still flogging it's ICE horses, when they cannot provide larger engines but they could've had a sportier version of the Curvv EV with AWD instead (like the Ioniq 5 N line)
Yes, Mechanical issues and power delivery gets mostly sorted with an electric drive train... But QC, fit and finish issues still have to be rectified. I saw someone with a punch ev having some bolt in the doors getting rusted
Mahindra and Tata have been in the automotive domain for decades. They have zero excuse for not being able to offer the same levels of quality as the Japanese or European. If they rely solely on the patriotic appeal, I am sorry they are not going to last long. The one good thing they have done is to focus on safety. Reliability is what they need to get right now.
As per understanding, Tata's are going with cheap chinese companies for electronics. Tata Motors are okay with bugs which they say will fix via sw patches. Be aware before buying Tata cars.
Someone I know bought a Punch two days ago. 15km after driving, the car wouldn’t start. They tried everything possible but Nope. RSA came and tried everything, Nothing. Car was towed and the next day, one press, the damn thing started. What a bad experience with a brand new car. They’re scarred in fear now.
I have sold my 2016 Tata Zest Just for a simple reason that Ignition Coil is not available in stock since a long follow up ending up with a delay of 10 months .
I've owned a Tiago since 2016, and it's still running well with a few minor issues. Overall, the car has been reliable, handling many long drives without failures. However, my next car won’t be a Tata, primarily due to the consistently poor service center experiences, regardless of location.
this thing is to be realised by the Indian companies and the video is not for the people but by the people. Study the companies which have such a refined technology, try to bring change in the mechanics. this is the time otherwise it will be too late.
As a Tata nexon customer I agree 100% with your opinions.. Mine is the new facelifted version.. So many niggles that I'm regretting my decision.. The temperature controls don't work.. The heater stopped working and they replaced entire HVAC unit by removing dashboard.. Yet the same issue pops up again.. The fuel lid stopped opening.. Water has entered inside fog lamp.. Etc.. Every week a new problem comes up.. I haven't seen a company so immune and ignorant towards customer feedback.. With Mahindra improving so well.. Tata future is sketchy!
I am 100% sure tata is going definitely towards indica era. I own a nexon and before buying it i thought negative reviews are from bunch of suzuki lover, but most of the issues are real like build quality, svc and battery.
Absolutely agreed. There product are really low standards. No post sales support, poorly managed service station without good resolution of issues. I will never buy or recommend tata cars ever
Pls have a session on latest battery technology like Blade battery SSD AND GRAPHINE Battery and why are 2, 3 wheeler and cars Companies delaying still depending on lithium battery. Anyway BYD Company had implemented Blade battery almost 5 years but still our Indian brands r still depending on Lithium. Also it would be great if 2 wheeler comes with Blade Batteries.
A very balanced take. It is clear that you don’t want to bash the brand blindly but you want the issues to be solved. Having said that, I think there is quite a big difference between Tata and Mahindra(anecdotally, I do not have the exact statistics). I don’t hear as many negative things about Mahindra as I do about Tata. Most people I know have had good experience with Mahindra cars at least the newer ones. Ig the reason for that may be that Mahindra is much more prevalent in exports than Tata so their cars need to be acceptable in countries like Australia and South Africa and a few LATAM countries too.
I brought tata nexon within 6 months i got transmission issue clutch is so much notchy reverse gear not working properly !! I fight and got a new assembly changed and it works okayish but not ver good like hyundai or kia !!
Till now it was just about Tata's aftersales, but now there are issues at every level in Tata. JLR, Poor after sales, their saving grace the EVs, there are many more and within couple of months it will be lost too. No strong future plans apart from Sierra. Existing almost every product except Nexon need a Next gen. And the final nail on the coffin reliability of the product!
I have altroz and my sister has ignis. I felt altroz is better in every front other than engine and the after sale service. Altroz has less milega, more engine issues, high maintenance. But still i would prefer altroz over ignis just because of safety ( keeping in mind that how much our road is filled with skillful drivers)
Tata arrived again with new designs and safety marketing (which spread awareness and that is good). They delivered good on both fronts. But what they ignored completely, even after such a strong response from public, are quality of cars- niggle freeness and after sales service. Till date they have not solved it. Now, competitors are catching up in safety game. Look at Hyundai- 6 airbags standard in all cars. Recently Desire got 5 starts. But Tata has same issues. You just can not call their cars reliable. After so many years! If this continues, they will soon start to lose market share. On top of that, they are even not as strong in Engine department as Mahindra. Dear Tata, you have done it in design. Please get over it and face and solve issues.
Every car has limitations. No car is perfect. In my friend circle lot of hyudai rand maruti owners who suffer a lot with their car . Problem is that they don't share this on social media . I am telling you tata cars are fantastic in all aspects.
Once I had a chance to talk to Tata motors QC head back in 90s when I had Sierra Turbo, he was not willing to even listen to my suggestions ! It was we are not ready to change take it or leave it !
I am glad that an Automotive channel came ahead and said this because I do not see any one else doing it. I am pretty sure everyone has their reasons but irrespective of what I see on social media, my experience with Tata cars has been full of issus, niggles and stuff that can be easily avoided. At the end of day, it seems obvious that Tata Motors doesn't care and are only concerned about juvenile marketing that focuses on trolling other brands about safety. Yes, safety is important but I'd rather not stranded in middle of nowhere over being able to reach my home safely. And the fact that TML uses heavier sheet metal is what is perceived as SAFE and other cars with 5* ratings aren't. This is how uneducated the general masses are and somewhere down the line, the manufactuer expects to get behind that. Sooner or people will start realising how unreliable the things are and sooner enough other manufactuers will start making ISSUE FREE & SAFER cars. Where will it lead them? P.S - Our 6 month old Altroz is now the least wanted car in the house, cause none of my cousins want to use it cause of the earlier issues they have felt in it. A 1,00,000kms+ run Baleno is what everyone wants the keys to. //end of rant
Tata has to do these things urgently Increase number of service centers and monitor the service quality entirely. I have tata punch and multiple times it has happened that they have blatantly lied about service being done while in actual nobody touched that particular part. They lie with a smile. Get some good engines , even if u have to buy them from some other companies do it. Focus more on customer satisfaction and after sales
Can we please have a video educating Indians of the nuances of LED headlights and how blinding it is to the other drivers and can we not stick to the halogens.
I am a nexon owner, guess what you guys are definitely on point. They have given good steering feedback, good suspension, nice sound system, good seating comfort but where is the engine. Why tata cars are not getting smooth engine. Howmany days they can sell by just showing safety. What will you do when a hyundai just get a 5star under a sub4meter, what if a German(kylaq) just jump into your segment and piss on your safety. Where you will head with your tractor engine and childish fit n finish. Mahindra is still doing good job atleast in r&d. Do they think they sell good because of some crazy tech. No, just a good body shell that's all and that will be very soon to be a basic safety acoss all brand. Don't take things for granted because of some blind fanboys.
I bought the TATA Nexon EV Max out of patriotism,., it has a major issues which can be addressed by software update but tata is yet to address it, its nt only me its the entire Max owners facing similar issues
They can buy citroen. Thats the solution. I have a tiaogo from 2016. It has its points. But the gears are really bad and bad service. Recently I found a good service centre in kerala. Luxon Tata. I hope that will help me to got for another two years. Dont have money to buy another car now.
Wonder how many of their existing premium customers will ever go for another Tata Car. As far as I am concerned, it is "Tata bye bye" forever. Not interested in any more SafariNG! By the time they realise, it would probably be too late.
Agree that tata cars have issues, but still people like me buy tata cars bcos hyundai and suzuki offer cars that are not at all safe with their inferior build quality and paper like sheet metal which crumples even with 2 wheeler touching it and then its damn costly to repair. Tata motors should also realise that if they fail to address this issue then one day when koreans and japnese guys launch good built cars then people like me will also swich to these brands.
They need to fix their customer service at their service centre and also sales centre. Very poor, will not be buying another. Loved my Tiago, took it for a trip from Mumbai to leh and back n had no issues, but their service centre is pathetic.
2 yrs back I bought Safari. Before Safari, I have had WagonR, Figo, Vento, Honda, but the number of days I have seen check engine light in Safari is ridiculous. I see it every week. It stays on for 2 days and disappears till next week or so. Tata servicemen call it as Tata technology. However, the general ride is very good. Unfortunately some niggles always remain.
Tata is trying to do too many things at the same time. They should focus in what they are currently selling instead of getting a new model out every year. The day Hyundai gets a seven seater like Tata Safari they are finished. Tucson is a 5 star rated car so similar quality made in india hyundai can take all the Tata customers away
Now maruti and other companies also start making safe 5 star cars so, usp of tata is gone now they need refined reliable engines and components with good service center's other wise they are going to lose market share
i like, 2010 year, discontinued, 2 cylinder, 624 cc engine producing 37 Bhp power, indian car with rear mounted petrol engine i.e "Tata Nano". Priced upto 3 lakhs. - unsafe car with unreliable engine 🤔🤔😃😃
Tata's EV versions are not under powered. I drove both punch petrol and punch ev... The petrol version feels so sluggish, I mean what the hell its like a loaded truck
Well I for the one I believe Tata should invest more in hybrid engines I just don’t believe IC engines will just puff away because honourable transport minister. Mahindra is doing what is needed and it will succeed terribly well in long run. Tata will be gone
Tata and Mahindra have the same problem. They are comfortable making crap as they know average Indian is dazzled by tech toys instead of actual well made cars that drive great. It will not change until the consumers demand better
After sales service is pathetic in Tata Motors. Service center people are Maharajas who don't like to cater to customers. My next car won't be a TATA FOR SURE!
Thanks to TATA no one talks about Mahindra. TATA is 100 times worse than Mahindra and being Mahindra customer myself I can say Mahindra needs to work on after sales and software issues in new cars.
I don't understand why everyone says Tata is bad 😂 have you compared the price performance and safety of tata cars with your favorite Japanese brands please compare it side by side do it. Then you say. Yes customer experience in service center may not be good like Hyundai or Honda or whatever but at the end of the day the more of a product you are getting at affordable price which is important for most of the people. I owned Maruti Suzuki for 15 years and now own Tata and in my location customer experience is almost same for both brands in fact Tata gives more quicker service than Maruti. And in Maruti Suzuki once my car's windshield was not pasted properly while replacing as a result rain water poured in my car so if this is premium experience from your Japanese brand then I am okay with Tata
Love how you are selectively comparing with Maruti Suzuki, which is the Indian counter part of a Japanese brand not an actual Japanese brand like Toyota or Honda. Wanna Talk about safety and 5 stars and all, until and unless everybody in the car are wearing a seat belt, crashing in a 5 star or 2 star car will end up with same results. Tata has really great price to performance ratio, their collaboration with Jeep and Landrover have resulted in great cars. On paper and in the showroom, out in the real world, the moment going to a service center with a minor issue holds up your car at least for a week. Glad you found good mechanics or service center but that is not the case for most of their customer base. And to top it all of, the JEEP engine which Tata uses in Harrier, seems less refined due to lower quality cabin compared to its Jeep counterpart. Again lower than the JEEP COMPASS, not lower than all the other brands. Of course Jeep costs a little bit more than the harrier for the FWD variant, but still not acceptable.
What performance? Tata has the worst engines. Their only decent engine is 2.0 diesel but that's from Fiat and it's much inferior to Mahindra 2.2 diesel.
Thats why Mahindra and tata can never be international car manufacturers. They will always be group of companies not expert in car manufacturering and service

It’s surprising that not more creators are talking about this in the youtube car community.
Because fan boys trash them.
R & D think tank should do needful to keep on the legacy go on
You guys are playing around hornet's nest. Many are very touchy with this subject.
😂
Brong old school cars with analog cluster, just forget giving digital cluster...
With new engines and improved plastic quality...
Based on reviews and specs I liked nexon and went to showroom to book. Attitude of the SR and how dealership had kept the cars, completely chsnged
If Hyundai/Honda/Kia produces a car like Harrier/Xuv 700 . It’s over for TATA/Mahindra.
Hyundai and Kia are working on it but it'll be out only in 2026.
Absolutely agreed. There product are really low standards. No post sales support, poorly managed service station without good resolution of issues. I will never buy or recommend tata cars ever
I have been using tata tiago since 2016. No problem till date. Its just that its 3 cycl and NVH levels are high . Rest everything is perfect.
😅 blade battery is also lithium (Li or LFP chemistry), it’s just form factor which is different.
If Suzuki or Hyundai builds cars with better build quality at good price point I don’t think I’d even think about Tata and Mahindra.
Nice points. Agreed
We like quality discussions
Tata Tiago/Tigor needs major updates.
Tata has to do these things urgently
Increase number of service centers and monitor the service quality entirely. I have tata punch and multiple times it has happened that they have blatantly lied about service being done while in actual nobody touched that particular part. They lie with a smile.
Get some good engines , even if u have to buy them from some other companies do it.
Focus more on customer satisfaction and after sales
Suffering from Tata Tiago since 2020…
Can we please have a video educating Indians of the nuances of LED headlights and how blinding it is to the other drivers and can we not stick to the halogens.
As long as Maruti, Hyundai, Kia get away with “BIG ISSUES” like safety.
Shummi.. nice shirt bro
Biggest issue with Tata is rust which is just totally unacceptable
Repeat customers are rare for Tata
Went for hyundai
Deshbhakti kai lia bht tax de rha already
Wonder how many of their existing premium customers will ever go for another Tata Car.
As far as I am concerned, it is "Tata bye bye" forever. Not interested in any more SafariNG!
By the time they realise, it would probably be too late.
I own a tiago ev and I may have to replace my ICE car next year and I am not considering tata or mahindra
Agree that tata cars have issues, but still people like me buy tata cars bcos hyundai and suzuki offer cars that are not at all safe with their inferior build quality and paper like sheet metal which crumples even with 2 wheeler touching it and then its damn costly to repair.
Tata motors should also realise that if they fail to address this issue then one day when koreans and japnese guys launch good built cars then people like me will also swich to these brands.
we need the lemon law in our country
They need to fix their customer service at their service centre and also sales centre. Very poor, will not be buying another. Loved my Tiago, took it for a trip from Mumbai to leh and back n had no issues, but their service centre is pathetic.
The only thing TATA is consistent at is quality issues
2 yrs back I bought Safari. Before Safari, I have had WagonR, Figo, Vento, Honda, but the number of days I have seen check engine light in Safari is ridiculous. I see it every week. It stays on for 2 days and disappears till next week or so. Tata servicemen call it as Tata technology. However, the general ride is very good. Unfortunately some niggles always remain.
99% of TATA buyers are first time car buyers who have no Idea about TATA cars' quality 😂
Tata is taking its market share for granted
Same with Mahindra cars. Would take a honda amaze any day over a TATA or Mahindra
Small issues aren't really small.
i like, 2010 year, discontinued, 2 cylinder, 624 cc engine producing 37 Bhp power, indian car with rear mounted petrol engine i.e "Tata Nano".
Any way Indian govt taking my money as taxes. So whatever little i have after that I need a quality car.
You both could teach English language to the americans and the british, so good at it (along with your expertise in the Automotive field). 🤓😆😆😄😄😆😄
Are you in your senses 😂
🤓😄
Common Tata... take these feedbacks... work on the flaws...
Seriously soon BYD will set their foot in India then game over.
Tata motors is successful only for share holder's 😂 not customers
I own new nexon
And its a good car but it has niggles .... certainly not a flawless experience
A should go for nano again. Bcoz mg commet is doing comedy circus in India
Tata have issues no doubt… but why my video hangs for like first 10 seconds everytime 😮???
All Tata cars looks same same 😅
❤
Tata is horrible. Their handling is worst and underpowered engine. And finally worst after sales service. Don't waste your money.
Mahindra ev is good cars
Ratan tata
Just reminding you, this is the company which made horrible TaMo RaceMo (“glorified Nano”) 😌. Just saying ✌🏿
Tata cars bekaar😢😢
Mahindra is already an international car manufacturer and hugely popular in Australia Africa etc 😊
@@dilsere1775opening showrooms doesn’t mean international brand. Mahindra is not even top 50 in Australia
@@dilsere1775mahindra is way worse in australia they have very good cars there.
