    *_Heaven forbid anyone watching this, or owning one of these ever have to use it, but should the situation of life or death ever arise and one must use this thing... even being "untrained" I'd hiiiiighlly, hiiiiiiighly recommend cutting below the waist.. thighs/legs etc... escape would happen immediately, and you would be free from said clench. Your worst nightmare would be having this thing pinned up as "Exhibit A" in front of a courtroom full of people whom would be judging you and seeing this crazy ass looking blade!_*
    *_A cut to the arms, or the neck with one of these things would absolutely be lethal almost 100% of the time!_*

      These factors do come into play during a trial this is true. Same thing goes for guns. The more intimidating and "scary' your weapon is, no matter how practical will be judged heavily on appearance. Not to mention the wounds you inflict on your assailant will also be presented in court and I will say that this is going to leave... gruesome wounds. Good advice ☝️

    I have the civilian and take it over the talon anyday of the week. But these knives were ment strictly for one thing. Knowing that you will only use it in that hopefully rare situation you should never have to send the talon in for sharpening anyways. If I carry the civilian, I carry a second blade to do all chores or tasks for that day, leaving the civilian blade untouched always. Plus you use the civilian for anything other then it's intended purpose the tip will surely break on any of these blades.

    Used to carry one of these and it was awesome! Still have it to this day. However, I’ve since been carrying a Civivi Incisor II and it’s even faster to deploy and the blade is insanely sharp. Pretty cheap price too. Try it out, it’s a fantastic and practical self defense knife!

      Broke boy tactical here. Messaging you from a different TH-cam account because I got locked out of mine 😂😂😂 I've actually been looking at that model of Civivi 👍 do you think that the plunge lock is strong enough? that was my only concern

    I just bought this knife a month ago. I have several that I have carried for self defense. I agree that this is the best option. On my worst day I want the best equipment. Good evaluation!

    Hey man, good video! I like the quick deployment and ergonomics of this knife plus the fact that it’s a Spyderco, one of my favorite knife brands. That blade curvature lends itself to be an extension of your natural arm movements, especially if you have a self defense or martial arts background. Bottom line,that’s a knife designed to do damage, should you be forced to use it. Based on your recommendation, I’m gonna order a Matriarch 2 for my daily self defense carry!! Be safe, bro!!

      Thanks man!!! It's by far the most recommended in its catagory in my opinion. I really like the way you worded that! It really is designed in such a way that it's natural! And even says in the literature that is designed to be deadly in unskilled hands and I really do feel like the design is perfect for that. Excellent choice man I really hope you like it 👊

      It also tears your pockets to shreds and it's huge. Not to mention that as of here late a lot of TH-camrs have been showcasing the poor heat treat that cold steel has been putting on all of their knives 😢... Makes me sad. Used to be such a good brand before they sold out to GSM

      The only thing I don’t like is the pocket clip everything else is very knice it’s sharp it cuts deep it looks menacing feels good in the hand do you got a sponsor or something from the other knife company? They are two awesome blades buy both is what I would recommend

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      God no man I have 2050 subs 😂😂😂.
      Even if I did have a sponsorship from Spyderco that wouldn't affect my opinion. The Cold Steel srk carbon V was my first big boy fixed blade. EXCELLENT KNIFE!!!! My pre GSM Cold Steel srk San my vg10 is also excellent. I love my cold steel AD10 lite as well. It's just a fact that you will have to send your Black talon back to Cold Steel if it's serrated. Cold Steel will even tell you this it's not a recommendation it's a fact you will not be able to sharpen these on your own at least not properly which is why they came out with the non serrated version. You shouldn't be using a knife like this for utility anyways and I'm sure that you don't you sound like an educated person. So I hope you can agree with me when I say that most people break this rule and use whatever knife they have on them. So for the average person I do believe that the Spyderco would be the better option in terms of maintenance. I also believe that due to its size it's going to be a better option for Carry for most. You have to understand that when I recommend something that I'm generalizing that I'm speaking to the masses. I did even clearly state in this video that the cold steel was a better bargain by far!!! There's no getting around it it's the same design, you still get a wave feature, you get S35VN steel, you get G10 scales and it's larger.... And it's less money 😬. Yet I still recommend the Spyderco... You should be training with your knives which means that they're going to dull and you need to know how to sharpen it and at the very least be able to. The fact that you absolutely have to send the cold steel in to being maintained is why the Spyderco beats it. But if those things don't matter to you, I think you have a perfectly fine knife. I still stand behind the fact that it tears your pockets to s*** but if you can live with that I say go for it bro. I know this from firsthand experience with my cold steel AK-47. I would just recommend putting it through its paces and making sure it has a proper heat treat because GSM took over Cold Steel and they are a mass conglomerate and I have been hearing all over the place that cold steels heat treats have been taking a hit in quality 😬

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Oh yeah the Black talon 2 is awesome especially for the price versus the materials. But I have to say it's a tad bit too big and I mentioned it in this video you can't maintain the serrations on your own. Even Cold Steel will tell you that it takes a special machine to hone and sharpen their serration so you have to send it in. That's the only reason I went with this over it. Well that and the fact that this is far more carryable in my opinion. But still the Black talon 2 is awesome

    I’ve read a few people hurting themselves with the wave opener on accident over the coarse of carding the knife and taking it out say when in a casual moment…
    I ride Harleys and have a concern what if I went down and the knives jostled in my pocket would / could it open up and then cut me in a fall/off bike situation?
    Wearing gloves the wave opening is awesome though, since the hole is harder to access.
    Ideas?
    Thank you bro.
    Solid video.

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't really comment on people getting hurt with the Emerson wave solely because I have never heard this myself but I will look into this. I come from a family of bikers so I can actually answer this. This is going to depend on where you live in your laws but here in Texas the bikers I know preferably carry out the front knives OTF. If you do fall on it it would be no different than falling on a portable phone charger. And if it did deploy by accident during the crash that would mean the internal springs had broken so the knife wouldn't lock. Even though I come from a family of bikers I've never heard of that happening during a crash but I would imagine that anything is possible. It definitely sounds like a plausible reality. So my recommendation would be to get an out the front automatic knife 👍 if you can't carrying out the front knife I would recommend getting a Spyderco paramilitary 2 or para 3 and carry it tip down. I read a whole article about tip down Carrie and how it has a less likely chance of coming open in your pocket. Both of these options would be good since you wear gloves

    A cool looking knife that I could see myself getting for that reason. Self defense for me means a life or death situation. I wouldn't pull this out over a parking spot dispute 😉. With that in mind, for actual self defense purposes, I'd always choose a stabber over a cutter since a stabber can still cut but a cutter like this can't stab. Cool knife nonetheless.👍

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're referring to what happened to me as a parking lot altercation then you are grossly oversimplifying it 👍

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  ปีที่แล้ว

      And by the way stabbing is most of the time is empirically ineffective. You want to go after ligaments, tendons and nerve endings. The joints mainly. If you can disable those there's no reason to stab anybody you can just leave they won't be able to touch you or even walk after you they will be completely disabled. Causing a lethal blow is not the goal of self-defense. Getting a break in contact is the goal of civilian self-defense. And my only argument to your regular knife over this knife is that this knife is going to be much harder to take out of your hands than any other knife that you're talking about. And scarily enough yes people do try to grab knives out of people's hands by the blade 😂 as insane as that notion sounds it does happen. Nobody's grabbing this thing or taking it from you. I do see your point options are great. But I really do feel like that any position you're in where you feel like you might need to stab somebody slashing would be just as realistic and effective.

    • @NetshadeX
      @NetshadeX ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brokeboytactical4397 No, not at all in reference to you , I'm just saying in general I wouldn't pull out a knife to settle a dispute. Probably not even if I got mugged tbh, I don't carry around a lot of cash and cards can be blocked. I'm not going to court over the $20 in my back pocket. I'm talking life or death as in either some crackhead or mentally deranged dude randomly going after the lives of innocent people.

    • @NetshadeX
      @NetshadeX ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brokeboytactical4397 I beg to differ but to each his own. I'm not looking to break contact in a life or death situation, or methodically sever tendons or nerves. I'm not a trained Filipino martial artist. I'm talking prison yard frantic sowing machine style stabs wherever I can land my hits until my cardio gives out, left wrist, right ear, upper leg I don't give a shit, I'm going home, not him. That said it's the Spyderco Waterway for me. The design is near flawless. Long, slender, stout tip, excellent finger guard, ridiculous grip and the thing carries so well inside the waistband I don't even feel it anymore.

    • @brokeboytactical4397
      @brokeboytactical4397  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Look I absolutely agree with you I am not a trained Philippino martial artist either which is why I like recommending this knife because it's sole purpose and design was to be used in untrained hands 👍. In my opinion if it's come down to using a knife or self-defense you are in the worst possible position that you could possibly ever find yourself in... ever. I really appreciate the well thought out comments man and I and I agree to each their own 👍. Seriously thank you for not leaving some s*** head asinine comment and actually giving some real opinions in the comment section 👍

    Spyderco serrations are superior to Cold Steel serrations. Cold Steel's serrations are like cheap kitchen knife serrations.
