Handy Hint 52. Always use an extended bit holder (approx. 150 mm long) for this sort of work. This keeps the drill chuck far enough back so a) you aren't driving the screw at an angle, and b) the chuck doesn't scuff the side of the gutter or down pipe clip.
What I like most is the pure honesty. Make a mistake, you say so, we all have to learn. Keep em' coming.

I love watching your videos. I too learned what I know from my dad. He got ALOT of knowledge in me before he died when I was 18. (16 years ago) every job I do from hanging a picture to building a garage and landscaping has at least one moment where I remember him showing me something.

Lol...tried training my husband over Christmas... in fact, that's how he sold another narrowboat holiday to me. We went on it and he was a cheeky monkey to train, so it never happened 🙈 Looks like I'll have to continue to being a one woman band still lol
Most of my 6 week holidays from school where narrow boat holiday. On the leeds liveroool to chester but went down to Wales a few times. Loved it.

As you say working on a bungalow is so much easier than a house.
I find when you put the fittings on, a little bit of fairy liquid on the rubber just helps to ease it on to the gutter.

Don't worry about the balaclava Vikkie. You've got to be comfortable and happy to do good work. In the years to come what TH-cam commenters say will not bother the people who live in this bungalow. Leaking guttering will though!

Nice job. It would have added to the video if you drew up a quick list of conclusions on what you learned from the job, and how you would do it differently next time. For example, you learned that the string is best used to align the lips of the brackets making installation very quick. I'm surprised that the spacing is only 40cm when most manufacturers recommend 80-100cm. Also, you didn't go into enough detail on what fall is recommended which can range from 1.5-3mm/meter

Looks alright always a bit fiddly in corners and a blunt saw usually works better cutting plastic I got one I just use for plastic. Lol hope you done a holiday video on the boat. Cheers 👍
Yeah, I really struggled with those clips when trying to fix the guttering in situ 🙈😂 And yes, I did film it. Hopefully not too long a wait :)
Never used PVC gutters, only metal. I'd like to harvest rain water off of my out buildings. The PVC looks like it might be easier to work with. Once again, thanks for giving me ideas.

@@moonblink Never seen plastic gutters before. The last time I hung gutters was about fifteen years ago. I was replacing the ones on the back of a house that I was moving out of and my aunt was moving into. I don't recall PVC even being an option at the hardware store. My father had new siding hung on his house a few years ago and had his gutters replaced at the same time. I was just up on his roof this past fall cleaning the gutters and they were galvanized sheet metal just like the old ones.
I live rural now and I'm not a carpenter so I don't know how long PVC has been an option, but a new hardware store just opened near me so the next time I'm in town I'll have to check.

Good job... looks really nice! Most guttering seems to be black & round. What brand is the PVC guttering & is it available from Screwfix or Toolstation.

They said they bought it from Quay Plastics.
You look to have screwed into the mortar, you should never screw into mortar, as water can get in freeze and blow the mortar bed

Yes, definitely! We camped on the drive under the porch on Saturday night and everything was still intact, including the new roof tiles 😝
